Looking at what’s expected for Nokia World this year, we singled-out two Windows Phone handsets we hoped to hear announced. It’s now looking more and more likely that both will be featured, with the pair showing up in a new set of pics that might just nail-down their names for once.
It was starting to seem likely that, of all the names we’ve heard associated with it, the Nokia 800 would end up as the Lumia. According to these new pics, both the 800 and what we know as the Sabre will share the Lumia name, arriving as the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710.
With less than 24 hours to go until Nokia World event where the Finnish company is expected to unveil “a bunch” of Windows Phones — according to Steve Ballmer — new images of the upcoming Nokia 800 have surfaced.
As you can see, it is basically the twin brother of the Nokia N9, with an added button on the side for the camera shutter and a relocated flash on top of the camera, instead of its left side. The version pictured is the pink one out of the total three colors available (with black and cyan also in the package).
Meanwhile German carriers are [...]
The Nokia Lumia name first popped up on game stats at the beginning of the month and now again in the EXIF data of a couple of pictures found online on Flickr.
Before you get too excited, the photographs have been already removed by their respective uploaders but, according to the EXIF data pictured above, the phone used was a Nokia 800. We’ve already see press shots of the Nokia 800 codenamed SeaRay and it is possible that the official model name for the phone will be Lumia.
The EXIF data speaks of an f/2.2 camera on the Nokia 800. Nokia N9 has a camera with the [...]
Three days to go until Nokia’s World event starts on October 26, 2011. The eyes of the world are once again on Espoo as it will show off “a bunch” of Windows Phones according to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
The Nokia 800 dubbed SeaRay should definitely be among the phones to be unveiled and, after seeing official press renders and even ads, we now get the chance to see a TV commercial. To be quite fair, it’s not a commercial but a teaser where you can see the colored tiles featured in the ads, the N9-like casing but if you look close you’ll see the [...]
We all know what the Nokia SeaRay is back from the day Stephen Elop himself showed the device off in that “super-secret” video. From the looks of the phone, it appears to be the Nokia N9‘s twin brother, running Windows Phone instead of MeeGo.
If the image above is legit then those in Germany will most probably be able to grab the SeaRay from T-Mobile Deutschland. There was another image recently showing off some Nokia Windows Phone from the same carrier and today’s snapshot appears to be the original render which was pictured previously. Only question [...]
When is Nokia’s Sea Ray WP7 smartphone going to finally arrive? We looked into some of the latest news and rumors surrounding the handset’s release earlier this month, and at that point it seemed like we’d see a limited European release before the end of the year, with wider global distribution following in 2012. Now we’ve run across a new rumor that says we might have to wait until 2012 for even the European release of the Sea Ray.
The Street’s Scott Moritz presents this as an unconfirmed rumor from an unnamed source, citing delays in the [...]
As Nokia prepares for the launch of its first Windows Phone, it also appears to be gearing up for a refreshed retail presence, and with this refresh comes the first concrete evidence that the handset will be dubbed the Nokia 800.
While that name certainly falls in line with previous rumors, we also recently saw the company soliciting suggestions for a potential US branding of “Sea Ray“; like the Astound and the D.O.A. Journey, the company’s WP7 handsets may be in store for different domestic and international monikers. At least globally, “800” [...]
We all know and expect the Nokia SeaRay Windows Phone to hit the market already and bring us some Finnish hardware goodness along with the sweet juice of Mango but what else does Nokia have up in its sleeve? We know the SeaRay is only one of Nokia’s prototypes and plans for Windows Phone and today we can see some more.
Here’s the story: the video below is an alleged “Nokia-Microsoft” video MyNokiaBlog received from a tipster using an ovi.com e-mail address but claiming to be from Microsoft. It appears to be a mix of two videos: one showing off some (so [...]
Nokia’s shares as well as word-of-mouth reputation has been a real rollercoaster lately and even more recently after its February announcement of abandoning Symbian and turning to Windows Phone, as part of the strategic alliance with Microsoft.
According to recent reports, the Finnish phone maker is preparing a major global integrated campaign for October, the time when it is expected to launch its first ever Windows Phone. The campaign will be spanning out to six months and, with the invested £80 million (around $129 million) is expected to bring Espoo back on [...]
After seeing the picture of the Nokia SeaRay with on-screen soft buttons instead of the hardware physical buttons for Back, Start and Search, we’ve speculated that it might be something either Nokia or Microsoft brings to the table with Mango.
Eldar Murtazin tweeted that “according to design guideline there no need to put hardware buttons on front”. He might know something the rest of us don’t already know. Nokia had to use up the spare 54 pixels between FWVGA and WVGA to emulate the buttons as the Sea Ray is basically the N9.
On the other hand, [...]
Nokia recently launched the MeeGo powered N9 which is advertised to be the first “pure-touch” smartphone but Stephen Elop allegedly also showed off the Finnish manufacturer’s first Windows Phone.
Technet.hu claims to have received an email containing a video of a secret meeting between Elop and Nokia employees — though the video hasn’t been published. In the aforementioned video — images are purportedly frames from it — Elop is said to have showed off a smartphone which resembles the N9 but which was running Windows Phone.
At the [...]
We’ve seen Nokia’s Mango-running Sea Ray smartphone in action, initially on N9 hardware before appearing on something more customized towards Windows Phone 7. Now that August is here, we’re closer than ever to seeing the release of Mango handsets, what with the official announcement of the Fujitsu-Toshiba IS12T. When is Nokia going to step up to the plate and formally launch the Sea Ray? Invitations to a joint Microsoft/Nokia event suggest that the date could we could be finding out by August 17.
As part of this party, which will help kick-off the gamescom [...]
You definitely heard about the Nokia Sea Ray, one of Nokia’s alleged existing Windows Phones, the one that Stephen Elop himself showed off recently to a small audience of Nokia peeps. It’s a modified Nokia N9 which seems to be running Windows Phone just fine!
If you are a fan of the smartphone or just want to spice up your Windows Phone Emulator experience, there’s a Nokia Sea Ray emulator skin you can download and use. After applying, the emulator will look just as if you’d be working on a Nokia Sea Ray. The skin is available in both portrait and [...]
Nokia Sea Ray should ring a bell ever since Stephen Elop himself showed off the manufacturer’s first Windows Phone around a month ago. We then saw a picture of the phone running Windows Phone and cleverly using up the spare screen real estate to compensate for the lack of buttons. It’s not the case as it turns out.
In the video below you can see the Nokia Sea Ray again, with its four buttons on the right side (volume up, volume down, power and dedicated camera buttons), charging plus synching port and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top. Even more, the prototype is [...]
Here’s a picture of the Nokia SeaRay we’ve seen showed off by Stephen Elop himself yesterday, the first Windows Phone to come out of Nokia. It is based on the Nokia N9 with some modifications but many noticed that the smartphone doesn’t have any buttons on the front.
As you may very well know, Windows Phone requires obligatory Back, Start, Search and Camera buttons as part of the system reqs. While the SeaRay sports a dedicated camera button in addition to the N9, it doesn’t have any buttons on the front. At least not hardware.
If the image above [...]
If you’ve been online anywhere yesterday you definitely heard about the “leaked” “confidential” video where Stephen Elop himself shows off Nokia’s first Windows Phone called Sea Ray. Think of it as the recently launched MeeGo-powered Nokia N9 running the Redmond platform with a few design and functionality retouches.
Based on the Nokia N9 official renders — and the changes Nokia had to make in order to make it a Windows Phone, like the dedicated hardware camera button — come the unofficial Nokia Sea Ray mock-ups. What we do know in [...]
