The anticipated start of retail sales for RIM's BlackBerry Z10 keeps moving forward on us. First we were hearing dates out in late February and even March, while more recently we've been looking to availability sometime in the first week of February. With the model just about to go official at RIM's launch event tomorrow, today we get our first glimpse at the phone's packaging, as well as learn that it could go up for sale as soon as tomorrow. A leaked memo from Vodafone in the UK reveals the carrier's intent to start sales of the Z10 as of 5PM local time tomorrow. That certainly doesn't ...

The problem with BlackBerry news has been, at least until recently, that it just wasn't very interesting. Sure, we'd occasional get news of some hot new hardware, but then RIM would milk the life out of those devices; as of today, the Bold 9900 is still the company's top model, and it launched eighteen months ago. Even on the software side, there was little happening to grab our attention, and especially in light of all that was going on for iOS, Android, and even Windows Phone, it was really hard to find a reason to care that much about BlackBerry. Everyone likes a good story about a ...

We've known to expect a white BlackBerry Z10 for a while now, and have had a few opportunities to check out depictions of just such a model thanks to a number of leaks. Well, press renders and official photographs are well and good, but if you've been wondering when we'd have the opportunity to check out the white Z10 in the flesh, we've got good news for you, upon a smattering of images surfacing with just a couple days to go before RIM's grand BB10 launch. While there's not much here we haven't seen before, the opportunity to check out the phone so close-up, unobscured, and from so many ...

Research in Motion is preparing to launch its brand new BlackBerry 10 devices in less than a week but according to a Bloomberg report Lenovo might have some merger plans that include the Canadian company. The Chinese multinational computer maker is trying to boost its mobile business and executives are dropping hints about the options. Lenovo's Chief Financial Officer Wong Wai Ming said that the company is "looking at all opportunities, RIM and many others. [...] We’ll have no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along that could benefit us and shareholders". Lenovo already bought ...

BlackBerry 10 will be here in just a matter of days, and while we're looking forward to giving to the new platform a spin, we harbor no illusions that RIM's just going to be able to waltz back into the smartphone game like it didn't essentially take a year off while everyone else kept pushing out new, innovative products. The company has a lot of catch-up work to do, and a huge part of that is going to be convincing the public to give it another chance. That's going to take some big-time exposure, and what better way to reach a huge audience than with a Super Bowl ad? RIM hasn't yet clued ...

Of course there are a lot of rumors about upcoming BlackBerry devices! The Z10 is particularly omnipresent in the headlines and today we have an alleged press render leak showing off the forthcoming BlackBerry Z10. We've already seen a pair of leaked renders the other day but this time we get the chance to see the white flavor of the phone too. January 30 is the day for RIM's BlackBerry 10 launch and depending on which rumors you're likely to believe, the full-touch Z10 here will arrive as early as February 5 in some regions (or end of March for some carriers in the US). There will be much ...

Make no mistake: RIM's BlackBerry 10 launch is still scheduled for January 30. While that should bring us all sorts of news on just how we can expect the new platform to roll out, rumors are already looking to just when the first hardware will arrive. So far, we've heard a couple possible dates for the arrival of the full-touch Z10, with both a February 28 date attached to a launch in Canada, and a much farther-out March 27 for T-Mobile in the States. As we start to close in on RIM's announcement (less than a week to go), a new rumor suggests that the Z10 could arrive much sooner than any ...

Ever since late last month, we've been able to associate the BlackBerry 10 L-series hardware with the name Z10, thanks to a number of leaked RIM documents. While not particularly likely, the very slim possibility remained that Z10 could still be an internal name for the handset, or at least one that wouldn't be universally applied. Now that's very much looking not to be the case, upon a new leak revealing the (unfortunately, in a very low-res screenshot) Verizon web page being prepared for the Z10's debut. The message here seems clear: even though we had heard about a number of different ...

Like we said yesterday, now that we're in the BlackBerry 10 home stretch, we're expecting to see some of the most detailed, substantial leaks concerning the platform and its hardware begin to surface. Today, a whole mess of slides for training carrier employees on BB10 has leaked, and among other things, it helps to iron-out some of the confusion surrounding the different L-series models we've heard about. Over the past several months, we've heard about the London, the Laguna, the Lisbon, and even Liverpool. The obvious assumption might have been that they're regional variants of the same ...

As shouldn't be too surprising, as we start closing in on the BlackBerry 10 public launch (two weeks from tomorrow), we're seeing better and better leaks arrive. Today we add to what few images we've seen of the X10, RIM's hardware QWERTY BB10 launch hardware, as well as get an extended hands-on look at the full-touch Z10. It wasn't until late last month that we first got an opportunity to check out RIM's new hardware keyboard handset on-camera. These new shots today have been pulled off Instagram, where the owner of the phone's comments imply this isn't precisely the X10 as it will be ...

BlackBerry 10 is just over the horizon, and we'll get the full scoop on the new platform right at the end of January. Any new platform is going to face some initial struggles, and app availability can be a key hurdle to overcome; after all, even the most impressive smartphone platform won't develop much of a following if there aren't any good apps to run on it. A little earlier this month we heard RIM estimate that it should have about 70,000 BB10 apps available in time for launch, and it sounds like it's making solid progress towards that figure, announcing that recent porting efforts ...

OK, so RIM's got its big BlackBerry 10 shindig on January 30, and the actual phones are supposed to hit carriers soon after, but just when? So far, there's been a lot of guesswork focused on February and March, but no real dates singled-out. Today, we've got two to look at, thanks to a pair of leaks. First up, a leak out of Bell in Canada (and who better to know about BlackBerry than a Canadian carrier) names February 28 for when it will first have BB10 hardware ready to sell. It doesn't name which phone we're talking about here, but the Z10 is the logical candidate. Then there's T-Mobile, ...

The latest system update to arrive for RIM's BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha handsets has arrived, and with it, a whole bunch of new images of the full-touch Z10, along with a short video showing off the BBM video call support we've been wondering about lately. The image set highlights some of the key software features that RIM will likely highlight in its BB10 promotion. BBM video calling is confirmed again here, and we get a chance to check out the white version of the Z10 hardware. All the big US carriers are on-board with BlackBerry 10, and with RIM's big launch event just two-and-a-half weeks ...

RIM's BlackBerry 10 launch event is coming up in just a few weeks, and everything we've seen suggests that the company will get the ball rolling with a pair of BB10 handsets, the full-touch Z10 and the hardware-QWERTY X10. Over the course of the past year, though, we've seen a whole lot of leaks and heard rumors discussing other potential BlackBerry 10 hardware, though with nowhere near the level of corroborating evidence we've seen for the Z10 and X10. Just how many BlackBerry 10 devices does RIM really have waiting in the wings? In a recent interview, RIM CMO Frank Boulben tackles the ...

January is finally here, and with it, the last details of BlackBerry 10, and its launch hardware, are really starting to come together. Late last month, we finally got a good look at RIM's BB10 hardware-QWERTY hardware, the X10, following a number of leaked pics of the full-touch Z10. Today, our attention swings back to the Z10, as well as to some just downright odd BlackBerry news out of T-Mobile. First up: the Z10. Sprinkled in amongst all the BB10 gossip last fall, we kept hearing talk about how excited all the carriers supposedly were to finally add BlackBerry 10 devices to their ...
