We've been expecting HTC and Verizon to deliver an Ice Cream Sandwich update to the Rezound in the very near future. The phone shows up on the manufacturer's list of upcoming ICS updates as supposed to get its update in June or July, and last week we got to see a newly leaked ICS build that seemed like it might be the final revision. Today, HTC updates its own support page for the phone to reflect the availability of that very same 3.14.605.10 710RD build, but where is it? HTC's software updates page for the Rezound gives today's date for the availability of this new release, but we've yet ...

If you missed the list of HTC devices getting the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update -- and the approximate dates -- you should check it out now. The HTC Rezound on Verizon is listed there with an estimated date of June-July. However, an Ice Cream Sandwich build -- 3.14.605.10 -- has been leaked for the phone and is available for the brave among you.  There is no exact change log but those who took a closer look noted that the changes are minor, which indicate that the update is maturing and nearing it's final version. Other changes mentioned are the fixes for SMS thread and ...

Verizon started-off the week by confirming the upcoming arrival of updates for the Droid 4, RAZR, RAZR Maxx, and Rezound that would allow those phones to roam internationally on GSM/UMTS networks, despite their CDMA pedigree. We'll be seeing those updates come out sometime this summer (with a good chance that global roaming and Ice Cream Sandwich will arrive simultaneously for at least some of the models), but if just the news of this forthcoming feature has you thinking about picking up one of the models early, Amazon Wireless has some pretty nice deals ready for you. Subscribers signing ...

Yesterday, we saw Verizon clear up a few things about upcoming updates for some of its Android lineup that would bring these CDMA phones the ability to roam globally on GSM-based networks. All told, the carrier committed to getting this feature out to the Droid 4, RAZR, RAZR Maxx, and Rezound sometime over the summer. Today we get a hint of just how this roaming might arrive, thanks to a recently-leaked ICS ROM for the Droid RAZR. While it's not clear exactly what software build we're looking at here, the takeaway seems to be that the update that will enable global roaming will likely be ...

HTC's been talking about which of its Androids would be seeing updates to Ice Cream Sandwich for some time now, so we've generally had a good idea for what to expect. We've already seen the company start delivering those updates to some of its lineup, leaving the question of just when it would get around to hitting the rest of them. To help with answers, the manufacturer has put together a convenient table, detailing just when it expects to make ICS available for those remaining devices. It looks like the majority of phones that haven't yet started getting ICS will do so next month. That ...

Late last week, we started hearing some new rumblings about Verizon's plans for bringing global roaming to some of its Android lineup. We already knew that both the Motorola Droid 4 and LG's Spectrum would make the cut, and Verizon would activate their roaming abilities at some point in the future. The new leak that brought the issue back to the forefront last week concerned HTC's Rezound, with an in-store display advertising the pending arrival of global roaming as one of the handset's features. There were also rumors accompanying that find that Motorola's Droid RAZR (Maxx) would join ...

Signs started emerging late last year that Verizon was planning on bringing global roaming capabilities to a couple of its then-upcoming LTE-enabled smartphones. It wasn't long after that when a Verizon representative confirmed plans to bring just such a feature to a selection of the carrier's Androids. These phones wouldn't arrive with global roaming enabled, but the feature would be delivered at some point in the future – it seemed at the time like it might be closer to the end of Q2. It looks like Verizon could be nearly ready to flip that switch, as retail locations are updating ...

Those of you who are rocking an HTC Rezound from Verizon and are power users probably know that there was no shortage of Ice Cream Sandwich leaks. The latest is version 3.14.605.5 with build date of April 28 and it brings some improvements (and some drawbacks). First of all there are updated radios in the leak. Then there are your usual improvements (as reported) like the lock screen shortcut settings that are now separated from launcher bar shortcuts, 3G/4G icon displayed prior to entering decryption password, messages application – wrong sender displayed on occasion and IPv6 ...

"As the primary consumption of media moves to the smartphone, we have an opportunity to create a premium experience on that device." That's what Beats By Dr. Dre President and COO Luke Wood told the Wall St. Journal when HTC acquired a majority stake in the concern last August. "This will give us opportunity to innovate," said HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou in the same interview; "They really would like to deliver studio-like sound quality." Flash-forward to April 2012. Eight months later, the smartphone maker still owns the majority of Beats and their mobile devices still bear the ...

The contents of a purported internal Best Buy news posting were leaked last week, claiming that this week we'd see the OTA arrivals of Ice Cream Sandwich updates for a pair of smartphones on Verizon. First, the Motorola Droid RAZR's update was supposed to start going out yesterday, followed by the HTC Rezound's tomorrow. We noted yesterday that the RAZR rumors seemed to be unfounded, with no new software arriving and the company itself tweeting that it would have more info on the phone's upgrade plans at a later date. That also started getting us concerned that we wouldn't likely see the ...

Best Buy is really proving itself to be a font of rumors lately. Earlier today we looked at an email attributed to Best Buy which seemed to reveal the planned release date for the HTC One X on AT&T. Now we move from Windows Phone to Android-land, with a new source out of Best Buy suggesting that a few Verizon handsets are about to see the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich next week. A little while back, we looked at a leaked ICS ROM that had become available for the HTC Rezound, showing progress since an earlier ROM that made it seem like the finished update was nearly ready-to-go. According ...

There already was an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the HTC Rezound leaked at the beginning of the year but this one we're telling you about now seems to be closer to the real deal, as it appears to be a release candidate (though not final). According to reports it contains Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, added CMAS support, support for IPv6 over eHRPD, HTC Sense 3.6, added Caller Name ID app, updated VMM/BUA plus, and new storage UI in the Settings, plus a lot of other fixes. If you have a Rezound (which needs to be fully stock with and with a locked bootloader), follow the source link ...

So far, news about which Android handsets will be making the journey to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and which will be left behind to stagnate has largely been coming from the manufacturers themselves. Some, like Motorola, have detailed support pages up outlining which models should be seeing updates, and when. Other are content to release snippets of their progress on the likes of Twitter and Facebook. Today, though, that news is coming from a carrier, with Verizon publishing a list of devices on its network that are slated to receive Ice Cream Sandwich. Verizon calls this a list of its ...

As we start to get into mid-February, there are probably a lot of you out there wondering where all the Ice Cream Sandwich updates for your existing Android phones are. After all, weren't we hoping to see these releases really start arriving in early 2012? The good news is that the wait is nearly over, at least for some HTC users. The smartphone manufacturer posted a message to Facebook this morning talking about plans for the delivery of its first Ice Cream Sandwich updates in March. We already knew about HTC's plans to start selling phones running Android 4.0 in March, with the launch of ...

If you like the HTC Rezound (and Verizon) enough to sign a contract then you will probably want to grab this opportunity! Instead of paying $199.99 for the smartphone from the carrier you could get it for $ 79.99 from Amazon Wireless. The price requires you to sign a two-year contract but if you still want the phone but consider upgrading, it will set you back $159.99, which is still less than what Verizon is currently asking. The HTC Rezound packs 3G/4G LTE connectivity, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4.3-inch Super LCD touchscreen with 720x1280 resolution, 16GB memory, ...

The HTC Rezound appears to have an additional radio which makes it a global roaming capable device, a world phone if you will. According to recent reports, turning off LTE, throwing in a GSM SIM card in the slot and doing a little tinkering brings up a new global option. Voice calls and data were enabled after a little bit of hacking but texts aren't there just yet. They'll probably make an appearance once the community follows the lead and plays some more with the device. Verizon seems to be preparing an over-the-air update for the Rezound as its documentation was published. The update ...

Owners of the HTC Rezound who feel adventurous and don't mind tampering with their phones in a way that could void the warranty can head over to RootzWiki and download what seems to be an early build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the phone. According to reports, it is Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's own Sense custom UI on top of it, in its 3.5 iteration. Be aware that initial reports are talking about various things not working in the ROM, reboots as well as watermarks on many screens. There should be another leaked ROM coming soon (and the official release couldn't be that far ...

These were the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G. HTC Turkey seems to have taken to Facebook a table (the one above) detailing devices that will get the new Android update as well as an approximate time for the roll-out process. Aside from a confirmed December 2011 date for the EVO 3D (which seems to be late), the list says January will be the month to expect the update for ...

While those were the only obvious changes, apparently HTC has quietly started unlocking the bootloaders for a couple additional models. Owners of the HTC Vivid and Rezound have been posting reports of their success attempting to unlock their phones through the use of HTC's tool. ...

As we see a new crop of super high-resolution Android phones arrive to the market like the Galaxy Note, HTC Rezound, and Galaxy Nexus, there's new potential to experiment with changing the pixel density to one that allows more data to fit on the screen at one time. You can do this as long as your phone is rooted. Using a free app like LCD Resolution, available on the Android Market, you can force your Android to use a variety of screen resolutions. While you might break certain stock applications, most other programs will work perfectly with the higher resolution.

The HTC Rezound ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but will probably get Android 4 ICS in an update next year. Alongside Gingerbread, HTC has also integrated the Sense 3.5 user interface. With HTC Sense 3.5 come a few widgets that help to unify status updates to social networks, get important information about finances or news, and change settings from the Rezound's seven home-screens quickly.
