T-Mobile introduced the United States to its first native Windows Phone Mango handset last fall upon the release of the HTC Radar 4G. Since then, it’s become one of the carrier’s most popular models. To help keep it up on top, the phone will soon be getting a small software update, as revealed through a leaked T-Mobile screenshot.
According to this info, notifications for the Radar 4G’s update should start going out to T-Mobile subscribers today. Most of the changes attributed to this release, bringing the phone up to system software 7.10.8107.79, are [...]
For what we expected to be a pretty mediocre Windows Phone for a 2nd generation device a couple months ago, the HTC Radar 4G turned out to be quite a nice device, and the sales seem to be agreeing with us. The HTC Radar is the 3rd top selling phone on T-Mobile USA during both November and December of 2011 according to the Canaccord Genuity monthly channel checks. The Samsung Galaxy S II was T-Mobile’s top seller for those two months followed by the HTC Amaze, both Android phones. The other three top carriers in the U.S. have very similar top selling phones. Number 1 on [...]
The T-Mobile HTC Radar 4G was a bit of a surprise hit when it was released last October for a very fair price of just $99 with a 2 year contract. Now there’s an even better deal where you can get the phone for free, and T-Mobile will give you an extra $100 for your old phone. First off, the deal is only good through 1/5/2012 which is tomorrow. Secondly, it’s a web-only deal, so you’ll have to go to T-Mobile’s site to take advantage of it. Thirdly, you’ll want to make sure that your current phone qualifies for the $100 trade-in, which you can do by [...]
The HTC Radar in the image above is the T-Mobile variant, the Radar 4G and, opposed to what we’ve been seeing — plain white flavor — it is a two-toned device.
It surfaced on the official Microsoft Windows Phone website and the black seems to complement the white/grey aspect of the phone. It is unknown whether the phone actually exists (as in whether it will be available for purchase in the future) or it is just a mock-up or wishful Photoshop render. We have to admit though that it is looking quite good and could appeal to those who want an in-between black or [...]
A few weeks ago, we learned of an update on its way to several Windows Phone models, including the HTC HD7 in Europe. Although we thought the release would be geographically restricted, some HD7 owners on T-Mobile in the States did report successfully being able to update. If you weren’t among them, and have been waiting for your own chance to get at the new software, a leaked screenshot from T-Mobile’s computers reveals plans to deliver updates to both the HD7 and Radar 4G, starting tomorrow.
The big news for the HD7 is the addition of support for Internet Sharing, [...]
The Microsoft Store is having a pretty nice Black Friday sale today through Monday while supplies last. Amoung other good deals on PCs, Xbox bundles, games, and accessories, there’s also some free Windows Phones. Of course, that is to say free with a new contract (or upgrade), but still that’s pretty good. The free phones available are the new HTC Radar 4G on T-Mobile, the HTC Trophy on Verizon, or the HTC Arrive on Sprint. You don’t have to go into a store either since you can just place the order online at the Microsoft Store website. If you or a family member [...]
Everyone is preparing for Black Friday and the deals are starting to pour in. This time it’s Microsoft with some great offers for those who want to pick up a Windows Phone. If you have a Microsoft Store nearby, get there tomorrow.
You’ll be able to grab a new Windows Phone for free from any Microsoft brick and mortar store tomorrow with the occasion of the Black Friday deal. Of course you still have to sign a two-year carrier contract but if a new Windows Phone was already on your shopping list — how about a Titan or Focus S? — you know where to find them [...]
We all know the HTC Radar is one of the manufacturer’s first Windows Phone handsets running 7.5 Mango, and featuring the new hardware supported in this latest version of the operating system.
It looks like at least one German retailer didn’t get that message. While obviously a typo, we have to wonder just what Windows Mobile 2003 (couldn’t even spring for SE?) would be like on this modern hardware. Then again, on second thought, let’s just keep Windows Phone installed like it should be.
While there haven’t been many secrets left concerning the US launches of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango devices, we’ve still been looking forward to see what Microsoft had to reveal at the event it had scheduled for earlier today. We did end up learning a little new information, but more than anything, today’s event was about building-up Windows Phone buzz, with more than a little help from a six-story-tall WP7 smartphone.
The only new tidbit we picked up had to do with the HTC Titan on AT&T, the last of the four handsets (also including the HTC Radar 4G, Samsung [...]
Watch this week’s Windows Phone View as we wrap up all that’s Good and Band inside the world of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. In today’s show we start by going through the new possible benefits all of us may get by the Nokia and Microsoft partnership, since it seems we’ll get Nokia Maps for free very soon, no matter what Windows Phone you carry. Microsoft has also unveiled a new Marketplace Extra service that allows you to discover apps just like our weekly show, the Windows Phone App Roundup. We talk about Adam Lein’s recent review of the [...]
The HTC Radar 4G just arrived at T-Mobile this week, but if you were expecting to have to wait a little before any really good deals on the phone came around, we’ve got a pleasant surprise for you. If you’ve got an old phone in working condition that’s just been gathering dust, T-Mobile’s got a trade-in promotion going that can net you the Radar for pretty much nothing on-contract.
While this may not be quite free, since you’ve got to factor in the value of your old phone, we’re betting more than a few of you have old dumbphones lying around [...]
The HTC Radar 4G on T-Mobile, which scored a remarkable 4.5 out of 5 in our review, was supposed to be available from the carrier starting Wednesday, November 2, at least according to the official launch information.
If you head over to the source link below you will be surprised to see that the phone is actually available online a couple of days before its announced availability date. It will set you back $99.99 with a two-year contract but you’ll get a 4G-capable Windows Phone running the latest Mango iteration of the platform.

In our review of the HTC Radar 4G we were a bit surprised by the speed of the device, given, what many would presume to be, low-end specifications. It only has a 1Ghz processor after all. It turns out the WP Bench benchmarking app has confirmed what we noticed and shows that the Radar 4G is significantly faster than all of last year’s Windows Phone models.
On the other hand, it’s certainly not as fast as some of the other new 2nd generation Windows Phones that have been coming out lately. At any rate, though it may sound like last year’s specs, it [...]
The HTC Radar 4G is the first new device available in the U.S. running Windows Phone 7.5. Sure, the upgrade has been available on existing devices for a while, but now we finally get to see some of the new enhancements and new hardware improvements. If you were to only go by the basic specifications list that accommodates the HTC Radar 4G, you might think it’s just a rehash of last year’s HTC Trophy and certainly isn’t anything special. Read on to find out if this guy is just last year’s model with a different color, or if it’s actually got some skills [...]
HTC is clearly excited about its new Windows Phone Mango handsets, the HTC Titan and Radar 4G. If you’ve read our Titan review, you’d know that we’re sharing in the company’s enthusiasm. Hoping to spread some of that interest out elsewhere, HTC has produced a whole bunch of videos featuring comedian Jim Gaffigan, showing off some of the capabilities of this hardware and Windows Phone software while having a few laughs.
There are sixteen of these videos altogether, a mix of minute-long clips that focus on one particular feature and longer-format videos. [...]
It’s been almost a month since T-Mobile announced plans to carry HTC’s Radar as the Radar 4G, and nearly just as long since a leak suggested that T-Mobile would begin sales of the Windows Phone handset on November 2. Now the carrier has made things official, posting to its Facebook page that the Radar 4G will be available starting Wednesday, November 2.
While the date might have been tipped-off by the leak of an earlier roadmap, that old pricing information needs to be updated; instead of the nearly $200 mentioned back then, now T-Mobile is saying that the Radar 4G [...]
One-and-a-half months after HTC introduced the Radar Windows Phone — together with the Titan — at this year’s IFA in Berlin, the Taiwanese manufacturer is now officially launching the phone in India.
The phone is HTC’s first Mango-device and sports a 1GHz processor, 3.8-inch WVGA screen, 512MB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, f/2.2 lens-equipped five-megapixel camera with improved low-light performance, and a front-facer for video calling and (future) Skype. It will go for Rs. 25,490 (around $517) and its current announcement coincides with Microsoft’s [...]
Londoners have been invited to an HTC event that’s currently underway, where the company promised to show them “what’s next”. A rumor said that this shindig would be a platform for the company to highlight some of its new Windows Phone handsets, rather than anything Android. Sure enough, Mango is the word, and so far HTC has debuted the Radar and Titan Windows Phone smartphones.
We had heard that the Radar (pictured above) might just be the HTC Omega that’s been in our sights for a while now, and so it is. The less-powerful of the two models, the [...]
The next generation of Windows Phone is upon us, which includes the release of Mango, plus a wave of new hardware. Among the first batch of devices is the HTC Radar and Titan, the latter of which is the most powerful Windows Phone device yet, packing a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU (dual-core Windows Phones will arrive at some point, but not yet), with 512MB of RAM, 16GB of ROM, and a massive 4.7″ WVGA Super LCD display. There is a 1.3MP on the front allows you to use video chat, and the camera on the rear takes photos at 8MP with its F2.2 lens, which should offer great [...]
It looks like Mango could be nearly upon us, with rumors suggesting Microsoft could officially launch the OS any day now. Once that happens, we can expect the floodgates to open and start to see the arrival of all the new Windows Phone hardware we’ve been hearing about for months and months. One such model will be HTC’s Radar, which we’ve already seen described as “coming soon” to a carrier. Now we may be able to put a date to its release, with one retailer announcing plans to carry the phone beginning October 1.
The UK’s Phones 4u made a [...]
HTC Radar is the lower-spec’d wave-two Windows Phone to come out of Taiwan, alongside its larger, faster cousin, the HTC Titan. They were both launched at the beginning of September and showcased at this year’s IFA in Berlin.
Orange U.K. has the phone listed with a “coming soon” label but there is no information regarding the availability. As far as the pricing is concerned, it will be offered for free on contract. How soon is “coming soon”? Our guess is that it all depends on whether Microsoft decides to officially launch Mango this week, as [...]
