Sony's IFA 2014 event is in full swing, but Sony having the varied interests that it does, it got started with some non-smartphone hardware, showing off its latest cameras. But it wasn't long before the company transitioned into something a little more up our alley, revealing the latest Cyber-shot lens-style camera accessories for its smartphones and tablets. Late last month, word got out about Sony's schedule for its IFA announcements, revealing plans for a press conference on September 3. But while sometimes an invitation will take the opportunity to give us a little tease of what news to expect, all we knew about Sony's shindig was the time and date. Would we be left to speculate on our own about what might new products might be taking the spotlight? About a month back we came across a rumor discussing a possible follow-up to some of last year's weirder smartphone accessories, the Sony Cyber-shot “lens-style cameras” that affixed to existing smartphones to give them high-quality image sensors, big lenses, and optical zoom capabilities. The QX10 and QX100 models we have now give us a 10x zoom and 3.6x zoom, respectively, but word was that this year's edition would bump that figure up to something like 30x zoom.
