The BlackBerry Z10 is a nice introduction to the world of BlackBerry 10, but for many old fans of BlackBerry, the Q10 with its hardware keyboard may be the more desirable device. We're looking for the international retail launch of the Q10 to occur sometime in April, but have heard that the US wouldn't see the Q10 for itself until another eight to ten weeks after it hits stores abroad. That could place its availability out as far as June, but a new rumor suggests that at least one US carrier would offer the Q10 sooner, with rumors that T-Mobile plans to start selling the phone in May. N4BB ...

It should hardly come as a surprise when a smartphone is available in another country before the US; by this point, we're all painfully aware of how paranoid US carriers are about the dreaded demon-possessed smartphone that's going to bring their networks to a halt, and the painfully slow certification processes they employ to vet models for operation. In that light, the waits that BlackBerry fans in the US face for the arrival of the Z10, and months later the Q10, don't even feel like news. But still, we had so much hope that BlackBerry might "pull an Apple" and see its new hardware make ...

Last week, with the launch of BlackBerry 10, we learned that while some nations would be getting the Z10 straight away, or at least in the very near future, BlackBerry fans in the US would have quite a bit of a wait on their hands, with the phone not arriving until March. Carrier leaks have suggested that the US won't even get a break and see the phone in early March, but be waiting until nearly April. Of course, the Z10 isn't the only BB10 handset on the horizon, and we also learned that BlackBerry would be releasing the hardware keyboard Q10 sometime in April. We suppose it shouldn't be ...

Dreaming about a big 4.7-inch BlackBerry 10 smartphone? Don't count it on it showing up anytime soon, as in a follow-up Q&A session to this morning's BlackBerry 10 launch event, CEO Thorsten Heins confirmed that the screen configurations used on the new Z10 and Q10 models will be those the company sticks with for future BB10 handsets. That means a 4.2-inch widescreen 1280 x 768 option, and a square 720 x 720 3.1-inch screen for the company's QWERTY models. While that's going to make things simple for developers, and help create an iconic look for BlackBerry 10 models, we can see how ...

Today's BlackBerry event is more than just about a platform launch: it's about new hardware! We've been looking forward to two BlackBerry 10 handsets, the full-touch Z10, and a hardware-QWERTY model we thought would be the X10. Well, a good event could always use a few surprises, and that keyboard model turns out to be the Q10, instead (Q for QWERTY, get it?). Unlike the BlackBerry Z10 with its widescreen 4.2-inch display, the Q10 goes for a smaller square screen to make room for the keyboard. The Q10's rear panel is covered by what the company calls a glass-weave structure, which ...
