A few of these Chinese manufacturers know what it's like to have a phone bought off by the lot in a flash. LeEco is one of them and its latest flagship, the Le Pro 3 featuring the rare Snapdragon 821 if you pay enough, is the latest hot button example. The company reports that it got 3.57 million pre-orders the day of release, with the initial batch of 500,000 units reserved in 15 seconds. And there are several memory configurations out there starting at the equivalent of $270, people had to be settling to "assure" themselves a chance at getting a first-batch phone. Of course, at this ...

One of the first US retail outlets to let people know it has the LG V20 rearin' for release is B&H Photo. Yep, that camera place off Ninth Avenue in Manhattan that's closed Saturdays. But come this Sunday, October 2, just as it opens back up for another week, the store (at least the online version of it) will be up and running with pre-orders of the first smartphone announced with Android Nougat. There's only a silver version listed on the fairly empty product page, so we don't have price details just yet. We do believe that with the give and takes of what's being offered in Korea ...

As Samsung promotes how the Galaxy Note 7 recall has gone in terms of customer retention in the device exchanges process and despite allegations of a new Note 7 bursting into the same kind of flames that triggered this recall in the first place, there is leavening. After everyone who's due a new Galaxy Note 7 when they pre-ordered an old one, there comes the audience at large. Whether or not Europeans will take to Samsung after this ordeal, that's yet to be seen. Sales will resume in the continent starting October 28, "subject to full completion of the exchange programme." Samsung stated ...

That iPhone 7 in Jet Black that you pre-ordered weeks ago still hasn't gotten to you yet? Sit your butt down, your chances are still slim for a fast pickup. KGI Securities's Ming-Chi Kuo has a research note saying that the glass-aluminium combination build has been trouble at the factories with yield rates dipping to between 60 and 70 percent. Demand for Jet Black has mounted to about one-third of pre-orders globally and nearly half of Chinese orders. The firm also found in its pre-orders survey that there was an even split globally between iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus reservations. All that ...

The Elite x3's initial rush to market has HP reeling the Windows 10 Mobile phone back just a bit. While the US is seeing some sales action going on, some Microsoft Stores are holding back. In particular, there's one in Virginia that won't sell the high-power, business-focused device until mid-October. Windows Central was notified that a tipster got word "that the Elite x3 cannot be sold until October 11th." Inventory is in stock rooms, but the main roadblock happens to be camera issues that HP is trying to fix. The Microsoft Store websites for the US and Canada have listed the phone for ...

Sony Mobile has notified Xperia Blog and, presumably, other people on its email list, that the struggling unit's latest flagship will be out for sales on Amazon, Best Buy and other outlets soon enough in the US. The Xperia XZ will be presumably up for pre-orders on October 2 for $699, a price comparable to ones we've found in Europe and Taiwan. We presume that certain retailers will take their own promotional spins with this release as they have done for the Xperia X Compact, also recently released. Sweeter deals have been found with the prior batch of Xperia X phones. Both new phones ...

This recall process has been a dumpster fire... no pun intended. While Samsung is sorting out its multiple Galaxy Note 7 exchange programs in the US and totally failing at its first-party switch-outs because of shipping concerns, the chaebol is initiating its programme for the United Kingdom and Ireland. In its announcement of the programme, Samsung has made available a serial number checker in which customers can input their Note 7's IMEI to figure out if they should exchange the device. A software update on older devices is also being distributed right now to limit charge on the ...

In discussing when Samsung will restart Galaxy Note 7 sales in the US, it seems that Evan Blass of VentureBeat has also related the event to the start of some sort of sales activity for the LG V20. It was disappointing to hear word that the V20 would probably be shipping out after Google's Pixel phones have had a chance to, but Blass seems to have affirmed this rumor with two tweets. First off, we're learning of a long lead-in period to new sales of the Galaxy Note 7 devices in the US. Even though customers have apparently started exchanging their battery-defective phones or their ...

It's boxy, it's relatively weaker than previous generations, it lacks a working fingerprint sensor and it supposedly has a pretty neat camera. But if your smartphone game is petite, yet still powerful, Sony's Xperia X Compact is your only route to go. And unlocked GSM units finally on pre-sale at Amazon in the US in black, white and blue for $499.99. Yep, $500. Amazon is softening the blow with a $50 checkout credit and shipping trucks are scheduled to set out next week on the 25th. Given, though, how many times we've been praising manufacturers on their $400 phones this year, we're ...

A telco giant in Canada has tacitly admitted that it canceled iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders after those orders were routed through the wrong site. Rogers Wireless customers have been tweeting out their frustrations with not only the cancellation, but the extended wait they now face with the re-purchase process. One person who had their iPhone 7 shipped and ready to pickup at a nearby store was then notified that the reservation was canceled. After applying for another iPhone, he found that he was placed at about 400th in line. @RogersHelps You cancelled my iPhone 7 Plus reservation ...

No headphone jack? No major redesign? No actual physical home button? No problem, said millions of iFans around the world, as they pre-ordered the heck out of some of Apple’s most controversial iPhones in the super-successful iOS device family’s history. Unfortunately, we’ll never know exactly how many iPhone 7 and 7 Plus copies have been snapped up since September 9, and how many more people will snatch them off the shelves of physical Apple stores and authorized retailers during the upcoming first weekend of concrete availability. What Cupertino isn’t shy to reveal is only ...

T-Mobile CEO John Legere took to a Periscope livestream to talk about the Un-carrier's iPhone 7 carriage and revealed that pre-orders for both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch variants have tallied up to "like four times" the number of iPhone 6 pre-orders the carrier got in its first four days. The matte Black version, not the Jet Black color, was revealed as the most popular in T-Mobile's population. "This has been the biggest launch ever for us," Legere said. There's plenty of evidence to back Legere's claim up. Shipping delays piled on T-Mobile variants of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus faster ...

As Sprint did not get the LG V20 this year the same way it did not get the V10 last year, the tradewinds have so not blown the right way for not-Europe. Online retailer Clove Technology relayed the news that official carrier sales for the V20 will not be happening in the UK in its blog. Clove will, though, SIM-free. We don't have any cellular information for the V20, but it's likely that an EMEA version would support UK carrier bands. The retailer is also promising a warranty and device support as well as English language, operator brand-free units. Pricing and availability will be ...

Didn't we warn you earlier? The social media posts complaining about one thing or another? In this case, it's about iPhone 7 pre-orders. And that Jet Black version did sell out quick — in many cases, people reported "minutes". First, a quick word of what's happening with the earliest possible shipping dates for the four other colors (Black, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold) on the Apple Store site: For AT&T, the 32GB iPhone 7 models will be shipped between September 26 and 28. The 128GB Rose Gold model will be shipped during that time as well. All other iPhone 7 variants will ship ...

Ready for social media drivel about how difficult it will be to buy any one of these things? We're not ready yet. The Apple Store is getting ready online. The usual closing up shop is now on before the rush of pre-orders begins. And Apple is being coy about what it has already made public, calling all the products above "something special". It's a quick rumor turnover for the Galaxy J7 Prime as Samsung has put the device out onto the Vietnamese market. The specs of this "meh" looking device are as previously rumored: there's a 5.5-inch full HD screen running atop an octa-core processor with a max sprint of 1.6GHz. That's backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with the option for a microSD card to extend it. There's a 13-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front one, both opened up to f/1.9 aperture. Everything gets its juice from a 3,300mAh battery and the device ends up being 8.1mm thick. While a fingerprint sensor ...

You wouldn't actually want to swim with any earbuds as water and the ear canal don't make for great partners in resonance, but the point is that fitness audioware company Jabra has some new wireless earbuds you can submerge in water. Like Samsung's Gear IconX, the Jabra Elite Sport are tiny little buds that plop right into your ear for you to listen to music or take calls with. Sound output has been refined with the help of hearing aid firm ReSound to ensure the buds' "medical-grade credentials". Each bud has two microphones — one to take your voice during calls and the other to cancel ...

The HP Elite x3 is beginning to let loose of its pre-orders period globally — though each country has to play it by ear — and it looks like the UK side of operations is ready to get away from the qualifying heat and shoot for the real thing. Both HP and Microsoft are offering the phone for its revised £706.80 price with delivery wait times as low as two days. HP's site is warning people of low stock, but that's all the word from HP. It's still the only meaningful Windows 10 Mobile phone that has a Snapdragon 820 out there. Might as well get comfy with it. Source: HP, Microsoft Via: ...

Words from Samsung executives teasing the media about a "possible," "potential," "may or may not happen" Galaxy Note 7 in China with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage have fallen through. At least, for now. Samsung opened up pre-orders today for the Galaxy Note 7. Like everyone else's, it has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and no superiority over the rest of our Snapdragon 820 Note 7 units whatsoever. No, even China won't be getting the Exynos 8890. Shipments start heading out late on September 1. There are some pre-sales freebies, too, like a some OTG storage and a rebate on Level Over ...

Months ago, China was introduced to one glossy, glassy phone from Honor with two eyes and a young target. The US got to learn about the Honor 8 last week. This week, it's Europe's turn. Presentations have been made in London, Madrid and other locations for the Huawei P9 in Honor's clothing and we now know that pricing will start at £369.90 or €399 for the 32GB model. Everyone will be missing out, at least initially, on the 64GB version, priced at €449. The Euro pricing is identical to US pricing. Honor's website and the Huawei-run vMall will stock the devices first. vMall is ...

If you think that £750 was a bit over the top to fork over for a Windows 10 Mobile phone with a desk dock, well, Microsoft thinks so as well. Then again, maybe its lowering the price of the HP Elite x3 Business Pack because it had to move back its release date of the product. First boxes were supposed to hit the post today, but we're now seeing them going out on August 22. Furthermore, if you pre-order an Elite x3 right now, you'll be paying just a bit less than your fellow customers: £706.80 including VAT. What's four days between you and Microsoft? £43 and change, apparently. ...

Remember the Galaxy Note 7? From that Korean company? Well, wash your mind from that and just look at this jewel of a phone that will bring your "eyes to the world." It also brings Huawei and its affiliate, Honor, back to the US for another product launch. The Honor 8 was launched from an event in San Francisco and with a move in markets from China — where it sold 280,000 units in the first four hours of sales — to the US, the smartphone is definitely getting targeted toward the Samsung crowd. The company reminded us of how hip and young it is, — Honor's Global President George ...

What's a few days between a multinational tech conglomerate and its anticipating customers? Well, possibly a few weeks of shipping hassles. But if you're hitting your carrier up for an iPhone this September, you're probably going to have an easier time than most and without the wait until 3am Eastern/midnight Pacific. That said, it'd help if you could get an idea of how long you'll have to wait for your AT&T iPhone 7 (or 6SE). And 9to5Mac thinks it has an idea, thanks to a leaked AT&T store reset schedule. Two dates are listed on it: September 9, and September 23. The former ...
