Michael Fisher, formerly of Pocketnow, was smitten with a certain "intelligent object" the moment he first set his eyes on it. He wanted one of these things for over a year. He pre-ordered one today. Now, you can, too. Monohm has taken the Runcible, "a smart pocket watch for the post-smartphone era" to crowdfunding site Indiegogo with a goal of raising $250,000 in 15 days. As of this post, the fund is close to 20 percent of that line with the help of 113 backers. Monohm aims to have the production workflow be locally-sourced and locally-based around Northern California. The wood for the ...

Every so often, OPPO updates its A-series phones. They're always floating around to give those who don't like selfies and who don't like mid-range flagships just something, anything to work with.  And that's what we're dealing with here with the A59: decency. The gold-colored, dual-SIM, 32GB variant of the phone is currently on pre-sale through June 18 for ¥1,799 or $274. The unique two-toned NuAns NEO brought a new sense of zen to Windows 10 Mobile. We didn't particular think it fair, though, to have the phone at CES before selling it only in Japan. But beyond word that the people at Japanese manufacturer Trinity were going to put out something other than the NEO for its international audience, we haven't heard much since January. However, NuAns is announcing that it is pushing forward to sell the NEO to the world and will launch a Kickstarter campaign the week of June 27 to field pre-orders. It's no HP Elite x3 in terms of specs (at least there's ...

Sure, LeEco may have announced the Le Max 2 in April with all the bells and whistles of these 6GB of RAM. But we've had to wait a little while before the company was able to make any of that hunky goodness available to us. Well, pre-orders have started lighting as the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option has on LeMall.com. It'll take a few weeks yet before phones start shipping out, but at least it will do so at a price of ¥2,499 ($381). For foreigners, LeTVMart also has that variant of the Le Max 2 on pre-sale for $499. Source: LeMall, LeTVMart Via: GSMArena

It's a slow and sure launch of Sony's new Xperia X line of smartphones. Of course the major Asian markets have it, but so does most of Europe and it may be the case that the United States will — sooner or way later. India has a sure thing going for it with Amazon.in taking the online pre-orders for the Sony Xperia X. The 64GB model comes in black, white, lime gold and rose gold. Sony's also offering its SBH70 Stereo Bluetooth Headset and some Rs. 2,700 in content from Amazon Kindle, Gameloft, Sony LIV and Hungama Play for free with the Xperia X. Both that phone and the also-announced ...

Sony's going through with its Europe distribution plan of its new Xperia X smartphones. It recently added the Xperia XA Ultra, a camera-ful little phone, into that plan. We're now seeing that the Japanese manufacturer is setting that device into pre-order motion as well as UK site Unlocked Mobiles has the phone available for £298.98 with shipments starting June 27. Britons can get the Xperia XA direct from Sony for £239 with boxes out the door beginning June 20. Where's the £60 difference? An extra gig of RAM, a larger screen with better resolution and double the selfie cam ...

Japanese manufacturer that is not Sony, FREETEL, has taken its baby steps to launching its unlocked phones in the US market. We saw the new company back at the major trade shows earlier this year, now it's time to get pre-orders started for a couple of phones. The Priori 3 is a barebones entry-level phone with Android 5.1, a quad-core MediaTek MTK6735P, a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480p) display, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. The phone is available for pre-order for $89, 10 percent off its list price, and will ship in about four weeks. Also on Android Lollipop is this higher-end Kiwami, with a ...

A phone called the Xiaomi Mi Max officially launched last week and the starting gate has since been rendered invisible. The company has been giving away a few lots of the phone to some lucky Weibo users, but the real roadshow is still set for May 17 — and that's only to sell 100,000 units of the lower-speccd version with a Snapdragon 650, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Kinda sad to see that the masses will have to keep waiting. And by masses, we mean 10 million pre-orders. The pre-order tally was up to 8 million within the first couple days of availability last week, so we've seen the ...

In specs Chinese trust. Apparently, HTC couldn't take that maxim seriously enough to have released its full-power HTC 10 in China. Instead, pre-orders went up on TMall and JD.com for the HTC 10 Lifestyle — the exact same flagship as the HTC 10 that everyone else gets ... except for the mid-range Snapdragon 652 that's in place of the Snapdragon 820 and 3GB of RAM instead of 4GB. While the phone does come standard with 64GB, the price stacks up to ¥3,799 or a fairly stiff $583. Focus Taiwan is reporting that after 11 days on the market, only 251 units have been pre-ordered. HTC has yet ...

Oculus is about to be more visible than ever before this weekend as the company can finally stop going it alone in sales. Its Rift headset will be coming to the Microsoft Store online and Amazon on May 6 at noon Eastern. It'll also hit the brick-and-mortars with 48 Best Buy stores nationwide demonstrating and selling the virtual reality rig starting on May 7 with more locations soon to stock the Rift. Oculus warns of limited inventories as it's already barely keeping up with pre-order volume. If you already did put in a pre-order and are arranging to get a demo and a purchase at a Best ...

If a 44mm smartwatch makes sense for your wrist, you may interested in either Huawei Watch for Women — one is encrusted with Swarovski zirconia and named "Jewel" while the plainer one is named "Elegant." We got to know them at CES and it was a full month ago that the Google Store started listing, but not selling the two. Google's still not selling them, but Best Buy, Newegg and B&H are to varying extents. With Best Buy, it only has an entry for the "Jewel" on its site, though it looks more like the Elegant — the picture and the price of $449.99 are the tells. Orders will get ...

Sony's revised smartphone strategy has brought us an upper mid-ranger and a lower mid-ranger this year. We've been teased for a while about what the end of the Xperia Z line will mean for the prospective buyer. The teasing continues, but if you live in the United Kingdom, you can act upon it. Amazon.co.uk has both the Xperia X and the Xperia XA up for pre-order with delivery beginning May 20. The Xperia X, as a reminder, runs on a Snapdragon 650 and has both a five-inch full HD display and a 23-megapixel main camera. As such, it gets a pretty devastating price tag of £499.99 ($720). HTC has its 2020 vision and its all somewhat pixelated and awesome and it'll make you light-headed if the company's head's in it for too long. We're talking about the Vive, of course, but the chief of the unit overseeing the product, Wang Tsung-ching, is banking on it. During this year's China Green Company Annual Conference, Wang said that HTC's VR output and sales will be more important than its smartphones within the next four years. Wang also said that virtual reality technology will have great applications in professional uses like mental and physical health assessment. It's not ...

The "Hipster Troll Carwash" has become the "Hot Topic Craze" in mobile tech, at least for this microsecond. HTC has found its footing once again with the HTC 10 and with a clear month until Motorola — under Lenovo — has something to offer, we'll see a full month's of worth of sales. But it has to start somewhere. In the US, Verizon said it has first dibs for carriage. In the UK, it's Three that has started pre-orders for the phone with deliveries targeted for May 6. Three is currently only offering the phone purchased with a two-year contract plan and an upfront fee of £49. We'll ...

If you're chewing on Big Red and would like to check a new phone off of your to-get list, get ready to wait. And then you can hit the decks. April 29 is the day when Verizon will begin pre-orders for the HTC 10. Brick-and-mortar stores will also start showing off demonstration units — known to us as "exclusive in-store previews" through a statement provided to Droid Life — on that date. Verizon claims it will be first in the US to carry the HTC 10. Many sites, including ours, have reviews up for the device, but hey, seeing (and touching) is believing. Even if you're copping a feel from ...

If you're super-duper interested in kawaii novelty and don't need $1,800 or so in your wallet, you should probably buy one of Sharp's latest products, developed in collaboration with the University of Tokyo: RoBoHoN. Yes, that little Astro Boy/ASIMO tryhard takes calls. It has a camera, too. RoBoHoN compensates for its small screen by shooting out a 720p projection when needed. It also has a few neat dance moves it executes with its 13 servo motors controlling its limbs. And you're really supposed to talk with RoBoHoN to get things done. But it interacts with you and all your data in ...

If you had any interest in Sony's latest phones, you had a delightful surprise sent to your inbox this morning as the company said that some "exclusive" pre-order offers are coming soon to Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia Ear — a Bluetooth earbud — buyers. Will it be a big enough splash to really put a dividing line in lineage between the Z and the X series? And whatever happened to the Xperia X Performance? We'll have to see what they are. Sony is also taking the opportunity to promote the Xperia X's SmartCapture technology — it can apparently lock onto a moving item and predict how ...

Pre-order madness meriting early shipments aren't unprecedented. T-Mobile pedaled into overdrive by fulfilling Samsung Galaxy S7 edge pre-orders before the month in which sales were to officially begin. In AT&T's case with the LG G5, it's the same case in technical terms, but it's practically a wash. Android Central is reporting that shipment confirmations for a few of those AT&T LG G5 phones are out right now. Some of those unboxings could happen as early as tomorrow, a day before South Korean stores have these things on the shelves. Everyone else everywhere else, if they play ...

Don't let the word "Chromebook" scare you. If you're looking to switch off to a more spartan and streamable digital lifestyle, you'll get everything you need in one of those puppies. Google is lousy with demand from the education sector and those kids can get work done on that thing. While we see a dual-core Intel Celeron processor here along with standard Intel HD graphics integration, you do get a ...

Even in China, there's no pre-order frenzy that Xiaomi or OPPO can muster that beats a run on Apple. The iPhone SE is in its fifth day of pre-sales and in China, it's been making a footprint through the internet — mostly because Apple has had a hard time managing large China-sized crowds in front of their physical retail stores. CNBC was able to gather numbers on some of that pre-order traffic in the country. The business network got its numbers through three authorized online retailers: JD.com is reporting 882,295 pre-orders, Suning has 1,709,427 while Gome is scoring 889,668. ...

The Galaxy S7 has had promo after promo after promo to boost its sales. LG has been trying to keep up with Samsung's shenanigans with a couple of its own tricks. US Cellular was the first carrier in the country to make its LG G5 offer known. AT&T pushed the envelope with a BOGO deal and a free battery. T-Mobile went all-out and put in the LG 360 CAM in the bag gratis. But it looks like Sprint — whose CEO has been a little hapless with Twitter today — will take the race at this stage with low prices and an accessory bundle. With the stipulation that you trade-in your current phone, ...

Apple is looking for some wind in its sales. Cupertino and Wall Street have been expecting a plateau of iPhone revenue this year. We've been expecting this iPhone 6c. no, 7c, sorry, 5se, I mean, just SE now, for awhile. It's supposed to be the first four-inch phone since 2013. Leaks and quips yelled of prominent equipment — specifically, the internals and hardware features of the iPhone 6s. And it was supposed to look pretty darn fancy — think iPhone 5s-caliber design. And it was supposed to be cheap. Well, "Apple cheap" isn't that cheap, but analysts would end up guessing $449 to ...

When's the LG G5 headed out for shipment? The chaebol itself is pulling the lever on March 31 while retailers have ranged from the first day to just outside the first week of April. More of them have come to the fore to support the early bird special. Namely, New York's B&H Photo and the UK's Carphone Warehouse are both up and ready to handle pre-orders for the modular, dual-camera flagship right now. In both cases, the phone can be bought unlocked (or SIM-free, as the Brits say) and carries 32GB of storage. While it doesn't have any "Friends" modules to sell, Carphone Warehouse will ...

When LG teased an "early April" release, we didn't think it'd be as early as early could get. Then again, with US carriers early-birding the Galaxy S7 before the calendar could even flip over from February, we might be catching some signals on this side of the Korean divide. A close source to Droid Life is reporting that US Cellular, considered to be the fifth tier-one mobile carrier in the US in what's really a four-player market, is getting pre-orders on for the LG G5 when March 28 comes around. Boxes hit store shelves April 1. Pricing comes down to $636 in full or 24 monthly payments ...
