Hewlett Packard's Pre 3 is nearly upon us, with US sales anticipated to begin later in July, and HP accepting pre-orders for the smartphone in Europe, shipping soon. Is it too late, though, for a little hardware revision? A page on HP's site suggests that the Pre 3 may be in store for a new processor. We've been expecting the Pre 3 to run a single-core 1.4GHz chip, but a specs page for the Pre 3 in the UK is showing the smartphone running a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon. Could we be looking at regional differences in how the smartphone is configured, possibly addressing supply-chain issues ...

While the HP Pre 3 is on pre-order in Europe and shipping mid-July it should also be making its entrance on the U.S. market sometime this month. According to recent rumors though, it appears that it will not come to Sprint! According to an un-named source, the HP Pre 3 is not coming to Sprint at all and, for what it's worth, there are no planned future HP devices headed to the carrier yet. There's no information on which of the two parties took the final decision -- or whether it was a mutual consent -- but HP didn't see the sales numbers it expected from Sprint and the carrier itself made ...

Earlier this year, it was looking as if Europe would have its hands on HP's Pre 3 by now, with pre-orders for the smartphone open since May, in preparation for a late June launch. With June come and gone, when will the Pre 3 finally materialize? HP has since added Pre 3 pre-orders to its own website (our prior experience with them was through Amazon), taking orders for the webOS handset with plans to start shipping in a couple weeks. HP's direct pricing for the Pre 3 matches what we saw with Amazon, costing you the equivalent of about $640. The company marks the smartphone as "currently ...

Fans of webOS may have the diminutive Veer to help tide them over, but for many of them, the Pre 3 is the model they've really been looking forward to. We've been following the phone's progress towards its release, putting in appearances at the FCC with both CDMA and GSM versions. Some new information from a couple sources now places the smartphone's release in late July, as well as reveals the Pre 3 will have Skype integration, including video chat via its front-facing camera. The only carrier whose rumored release has a date attached to it is Verizon, where the Pre 3 is said to arrive on ...

The HP Palm Pre 3 for Verizon has recently passed FCC and the AT&T application tipped a webOS 2.3 feature but this time it's one more time for the Pre 3 to visit FCC. It seems like a European GSM version of the HP Pre 3 visited FCC and got certified. So there we have everything that matters covered, AT&T, Verizon and European bands all passing FCC. Now all we need is the smartphone itself but if you just can't wait for the Pre 3, take a look at the tiny Veer 4G if you're on AT&T. We've got the unboxing, hardware and software tour ready with the review coming up shortly. Source: FCC Via: ...

The upcoming HP Pre 3 will feature a front-facing camera when it finally arrives this summer (hitting Europe in late June), bringing with it the opportunity to place some video calls with webOS. HP's a bit late to the game on that one, but it could be looking to distinguish itself by offering some innovations to how we use videoconference software, revealed in a paper the company's recently published. First up, HP tackles the problem of properly framing your outgoing video feed. Instead of taking up screen space by showing a thumbnail view of your own face, the company suggests using ...

While HP's webOS-powered Veer has just arrived in the States, it's beefier big brother, the Pre 3, is taking its good old time. We've seen what looks like both an AT&T and a Verizon-equipped Pre 3 get their FCC certifications, but haven't heard just when the smartphone might go up for sale. HP's site for the Pre 3 says that there's "planned availability this summer", but just when and where? The first signs of upcoming Pre 3 sales have surfaced, with the German version of Amazon now accepting pre-orders for the smartphone. You can place your order now for the Pre 3, which Amazon.de says ...

We know that webOS users wanted to be able to do some editing for the documents up on Google Docs right from the web without any other applications involved and it looks like your prayers have been answered! If you are running an HP Palm smartphone with really any version of webOS -- webOS 1.4.5 confirmed -- you are now able to do the editing online, on the web, for both documents and spreadsheets. You might see some missing features (cloud printing) or some features not working as they should but the glitches will hopefully be ironed out soon. You still need to get passed the typical ...

A new Hewlett-Packard phone has just received its FCC clearance, with the agency publishing the documentation showing the phone's compliance with testing. After examining the evidence made available through these publications, there's a good chance that we're looking at the Pre 3 as configured for a launch on Verizon Wireless. According to the FCC documents, this HP phone carries model number F30CV, one we haven't seen show up previously. Considering that the F30CN with AT&T frequency bands has already arrived at the FCC, presumably the Pre 3 on AT&T, it seems pretty clear that we're ...

An HP handset that is likely to be the Palm Pre 3 has just passed through the FCC, sporting AT&T 3G capabilities and, more interestingly, reportedly running webOS 2.3 -- a version of the operating system that we've never heard of. It's important to note here that there's no direct evidence of this being the Pre 3, but with the Veer 4G having already gotten FCC approval for the same bands -- and no other known HP/Palm handsets on the horizon -- the QWERTY slider described in the application would seem to have only one likely identity. Speaking of HP/Palm, this is the first Palm handset to ...

Earlier today we got a chance to check out a mysterious new HP Palm smartphone, a keyboardless slate that's supposedly the HP Stingray. Fresh from the same source who provided that intriguing pic comes something new for the Pre 3, a shot of the phone running on Verizon's network. Unlike the Stingray, we know for sure that the Pre 3 - previously identified as the Mantaray - is definitely on its way to market. HP has gone official with the Pre 3's specs, including a 1.4GHz processor that should set a high-water mark for webOS smartphone performance. Combined with a larger screen than the Pre ...
