The pal that helps you and many other people pay up is updating its Android and iOS apps. Unlike many other apps, it's providing customers with a good idea of when to expect an update. Version 6.0 of the app, said to have "a new look and feel," will head to devices with Android 4.0.3 or later and iOS 9.1 or later. Windows Phone users will end availability for the current version of the app while both Amazon Fire and BlackBerry OS users will not be able to use the app beyond June 30. Joanna Lambert, Vice President of Global Consumer Product and Engineering, said in the company's blog post: ...

You often hear the world’s most valuable company justifying its success on the unmatched loyalty of its customers, but exactly how do you scientifically assess such a vague and deeply abstract concept? Leave it to New York-based consultancy firm Brand Keys to interview close to 43,000 consumers aged 18 to 65 in the nine US Census Regions, in order to determine the most beloved brand names in no less than 72 categories, ranging from airlines to breakfast bars to deodorants to smartphones, tablets, and social networking sites. The logo that prevailed in the most sections of the ...

It’s pretty obvious Google decided to put greater emphasis on Christmas savings than Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals this year, very recently taking $50 off the Nexus 5X and 6P, as well as throwing in $20 Play Store credit with second-gen Chromecast purchases, and further bundling in some sweet free premium content. The latest special offer technically comes from PayPal, not the search giant, though Big G must have also given its blessing for your $3 discounts. Granted, 3 bucks isn’t a lot of money, but if you’ve been keeping an eye on apps, games, movies, books or magazine ...

Square’s approach to helping buddies send money to each other is kind of smart, so much so that it has driven some envy in the industry. PayPay was really one of the pioneers of the whole concept, but over the years the service has turned into more of a bank than anything else. It only makes sense for the company to look for a simplified way to return to its roots, and today we see how. The company has just announced a new service called PayPal.Me, that intends to simplify monetary transactions between friends. The concept is rather interesting though, where you can create a personal URL ...

Google's Play Store gives so many of us a seamless app-purchasing experience that it's easy to take the convenience for granted: we tie a credit card to our accounts, and we're off, ready to purchase away. But things aren't so easy everywhere, especially if you don't have a credit card you can use for such purposes. Today we learn about some steps Google is taking to make Play Store purchases even more accessible, implementing new payment methods and bringing existing ones to new users. Starting today, you can complete Play Store payments via PayPal. Just enter your account details when ...

Should we even be surprised at this point? Time and time again, smartphones roll off the assembly line with all these cool features baked-in, and then carriers go and get uppity about them for one reason or another, and leverage the largely undeserved power they hold over OEMs to force the deactivation of specific abilities. It's a struggle we've been following for years, seeing casualties like NFC payments or unlockable bootloaders get hit along the way. The latest incidents to come to our attention have affected Samsung's Galaxy S5, and earlier this week we talked about how multiple US ...

The Windows Phone App Marketplace keeps growing by the hundreds, and it's always great to seem some essential apps reach it. This time PayPal has brought their official client app to Windows Phone that provides almost every service and functionality that we find in its iOS and Android counterparts. You can send and receive money, administer your account and even access details on all the companies that have said yes to the "PayPal Here" service. Sadly you still can't snap a photo of your credit card to add it as a payment method to your account, but this is just version 1.0, so let's cut ...
