Existing customers who already have the service will find charges on their next bill will be $0.00. The device pricing will be: $49.99 buy one get one free, and the Pixi will be $29.99 buy one, get one free. The ...

After mysteriously announcing two webOS devices will be coming at CES but not specifying which ones, AT&T has taken the wraps off of the GSM versions of the Palm Pixi Plus and Palm Pre Plus. According to AT&T, the GSM Pre Plus will go for $150 after rebate while the Pixi Plus will retail for $50 after rebate. The devices are still listed as coming soon from AT&T, but you can sign up to be notified on the carrier's site.

While we're campaigning for Windows Mobile ports to Windows Phone 7 Series, Palm's on their own mission to get developers to port their iPhone apps to webOS based smartphones, such as the Palm Pre and the Pre Plus. According to Electronostia, "The kit's approach, which runs native code within the platform's web-based framework, is said by AllThingsD to be so direct that an iPhone game can be converted in a "matter of days." Few changes are necessary, and the performance is purportedly as fast as on its native Apple counterpart." The tech news site also "attests" that some iPhone ...

In this video we compare the email experiences of the major smartphone operating systems (excluding Blackberry). This is a follow up to the Home Screen Comparison video we came up with a few weeks ago. While this particular test is pretty subjective, it's easy to see in the video that the email clients of the iPhone and HTC HD2 are the fastest. Beyond being fast, an email client must also be efficient by reducing the number of screen presses needed to do certain tasks. And finally, rendering fidelity of messages is also important, meaning what you see when viewing a message should be ...

Sprint has finally given an ETA on the webOS 1.4 update, which was promised by Palm at CES. The update brings a number of bug fixes, but the most interesting feature would be Adobe Flash 10.0 support for the webOS smartphone, which unfortunately is limited to the Pre only so Pixi users are left out for Flash support. Sprint has since yanked the post, but it seems that the update will arrive tomorrow and will be available over the air. Per Sprint's post, it seems that Flash isn't included with the update, but the update does add support for the plug-in. After the 1.4 update is installed, ...

The Mobile Hotspot app that debuted on the Verizon Wireless Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus requires a special tethering add-on that costs $40 per month for the ability to turn your webOS device(s) into a mobile hotspot and share your Verizon Wireless mobile broadband conenction with up to five other devices. Those who do not want to fork out the extra $40 per month can look towards unofficial solutions, such as the MyTether app, which is a "homebrew" app, which requires some hackery similar to the iPhone jailbreak process. The app costs a one-time charge of $15 for the privilege of ...

Imitation is the biggest compliment, and Palm should be more than flattered with the Pre's not so pretty twin in the Alcatel OT-980, which is made for carrier Orange. The Alcatel model features a similar form-factor sans the Palm polish and Android instead of webOS on a lower resolution QVGA resistive (instead of capacitive HVGA) touchscreen. The device seems to be made for the low-end market; the device is expected to retail for $300 prior to carrier subsidies. Specs for the Alcatel smartphone are: -Android 1.6 -Resistive QVGA (240×320) Touchscreen -600 MHz processor -192MB RAM -2 ...

It looks like the Palm Pre Plus on Verizon Wireless is experiencing some growing pains, with users reporting some issues with MMS and GPS. The first issue, MMS, isn't all too serious. It seems that when the device is connected through WiFi, the Pre Plus attempts to send MMS messages over WiFi rather than Verizon Wireless' CDMA/EVDO Rev. A network. The quick solution until a bug fix arrives: turn off WiFi prior to sending MMS. The second issue being reported is that the Pre Plus isn't able to get AGPS triangulation for navigation apps (like Google Maps) on the device and users have to wait ...

The Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus, which is now available exclusively on Verizon Wireless, may be making its way into GSM form for AT&T and a global release in the future according to some testing information. At CES this year, AT&T had stated that it will be getting two webOS devices, though which devices were not disclosed. It would make sense that the upgraded Plus models would be a hot commodity for the GSM markets as both the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus improves on their non-plus models from Sprint, with the former adding double the RAM and double the storage while the lesser expensive ...

Quite a few Windows Mobile users have been scoffing at the Verizon Wireless Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus with the hotspot capable Mobile Hotspot app, which enables the Palm models to act like a mobile hotspot allowing you to share your VZW mobile broadband connection and tether your laptop to the internet. As Windows Mobile users, you probably have heard of the HTC Internet Sharing app, an HTC-made free app for HTC Windows Mobile devices, that offers the same functionality. Additionally, there's also a paid app called WMWiFiRouter that does the trick as well. However, where the webOS ...

We had talked about the contract pricing and promotions for the Verizon Wireless Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus, but there are a few readers who have asked me about non-contract pricing. For the commitment-phobe who can't seem to pick up the pen and sign away two years of their life over to Verizon Wireless, the Palm Pre Plus will retail for $600 sans contract and the Palm Pixi Plus will go for $400. According to the Verizon Wireless rep that we spoke with, although you can purchase the phone at its full price, this isn't pre-paid pricing: "It essentially is a month to month contract ...

We have reviewed the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus on wireless CDMA/EVDO carrier Verizon Wireless. The most notable upgrade for the webOS devices--previously available on Sprint sans the Plus moniker--is the ability to share the Pre Plus' and Pixi Plus' internet connection with up to five other devices, similar to the stand-alone MiFi. WiFi tethering, unlike Bluetooth tethering, removes some of the bottleneck in speed that Bluetooth may have. Additionally, it allows multiple simultaneous connections. This way, your Pre Plus can bless your laptop, Zune HD, or iPod Touch with wireless ...

While not a lot has changed between the Sprint Palm Pre and the Sprint Palm Pixi on the outside, Palm made some incremental upgrades that give both devices a more polished look befitting of their "plus" moniker on Verizon Wireless; the devices were officially announced at CES earlier in the month. In the video below, we'll give you a quick unboxing and hardware tour of the Palm Pixi Plus and Palm Pre Plus, which will both be available on Verizon Wireless beginning January 25. The Pre Plus is getting double the storage--up to 16 GB from 8 GB from the Sprint Pre model. Additionally, the Palm ...
