What's worse, a device that you hear rumored for months and months but never seems ready to go official, or one that sees a formal announcement, but then never manages to actually go up for sale? It's been over one hundred days since ASUS announced the PadFone X at CES, to be an AT&T exclusive in the US. We were told that pricing, specs, and availability info would be forthcoming, and while we have gotten an update on those hardware details, there's been no news concerning a start of sales. Instead, AT&T's been talking about the PadFone X every few weeks, reminding us that it still ...

Back at the CES in early January, ASUS announced the upcoming PadFone X for AT&T. Like PadFones before it, this would be a combination smartphone/tablet dock setup, this time with a five-inch phone and a nine-inch tablet, both full HD. While we got that display info, some general talk about a large battery, and confirmation of LTE-Advanced support, ASUS still hadn't revealed a lot of detail about this hardware. Then we end today's show talking about iOS 8 and even iOS 9, aside from the rumors of the ...

Two months have passed since CES, but plenty of the hardware that showed its face at the expo is still taking its sweet old time in getting to market. ASUS, for instance, announced a whole spread of new gear, much of which we're still waiting to show up. For instance, there's that really cool dual-OS Transformer Book Duet tablet, but rumors have suggested that Google might be trying to derail the project. We also got news at CES of the PadFone X, which was to be an AT&T exclusive; that's great, but when might it actually be available? We still haven't seen a firm date, but with ...

Considering all the teasers it had been dropping, we sure had some pretty high expectations for today's ASUS CES announcement. The company had been hinting at a dual-boot Android/Windows tablet, and a later video sure seemed to imply we'd be seeing new smartphones in 4, 5, and 6-inch screen sizes. Now that's all been confirmed, as well as some surprises. The Transformer Book Duet is ASUS's new dual-boot, hybrid, all-sorts-of-convertible tablet. It goes from Android to Windows 8.1 at the touch of a button, and from tablet to notebook with its keyboard dock. There's a beefy Intel Core i7 ...
