The original LG Spectrum made a lot of headlines at CES 2012, even though we fell out of love with it quick during our review. Now LG has brought a US variant of their Korean Optimus LTE II as a follow-up being dubbed the LG Spectrum 2 to Verizon. The device may not be the Optimus G that has lots of us drooling, but it packs a 4.7-inch AH-IPS display, a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 8-megapixels in the back shooter and 16GB of storage along with wireless charging support if you buy the extra pad. Sadly the good news end there. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and judging ...

Back in the long-long-ago (OK, it was just July) we heard that Verizon was looking to bring LG's Optimus LTE2 to its subscribers as the Spectrum 2. At the time, the LTE2 was sounding like a pretty high-end offering, being one of the first smartphones to come equipped with 2GB of RAM, but a lot's happened since. Did Verizon just forget about the Spectrum 2? We still haven't received any confirmation from the carrier itself, but the smartphone just managed to pop-up in Best Buy's system, where it looks like it could be preparing to launch. We had previously seen the Spectrum 2 appear on a ...

Are you a Verizon subscriber looking to upgrade in the next several months? Curious what your choices will be like? Some new roadmap info for the carrier has just leaked, giving us a peek at what's on the agenda through the rest of the year, into early 2013. First up is the Samsung Stratosphere 2, a mid-range Android powered by a Snapdragon S4 and featuring a sliding QWERTY keyboard. That one should hit Verizon before the end of the month. In October, the LG Spectrum 2 is expected to make its appearance. This what's been released internationally as the LTE II, and we've been waiting all ...

Over the course of the past several weeks, we've been following the progress of LG's Optimus LTE2 as it prepared for a launch on Verizon. We've known this handset as model VS930, and got the chance to check out the phone in full Verizon livery earlier this month, but hadn't yet heard much in the way of detail regarding just how the phone would land at Verizon. As it presumptive release date approaches, we're starting to fill in some of those gaps, and today learn that the LTE2 will supposedly come to Verizon as the Spectrum 2. That's pretty sensible, as while users in the US might equate ...

LG cooked-up the Optimus LTE2 as its response to the likes of HTC's One X and Samsung's Galaxy S III, taking its original Optimus LTE from last year and bumping specs up all over the place. We're left with an Ice Cream Sandwich Android running a Snapdragon S4, featuring a hefty 2GB of RAM and a 4.7-inch 720p display. Already available in Asia, we've been keeping an eye out for signs of the phone's launch elsewhere. It seems that we're getting closer and closer to an eventual Verizon release, as evidenced by some new imagery of the handset showing-off how it will appear for the carrier, but ...

Last week, we got to see a picture of what was supposedly a shipment on its way to Verizon, chock full of LG-VS930 smartphones. Of course, that news isn't very useful without knowing just what the VS930 is, so we looked into how to connect the dots between that name and a phone with which we were familiar. Along the way, we had to make a few logical jumps, opening up the possibility that we were misinterpreting the situation. Now, however, LG has confirmed the identity of one of the codenames under discussion, making it appear very likely that Verizon is going to be getting the ...

Love it or hate it, Apple managed to once again change the game of voice commands with its own Siri virtual assistant launched on the iPhone 4S. Not that voice commands were something new but the idea has been taken to a new level -- one of natural conversation -- and now Samsung has also debuted its own S-Voice on the Samsung Galaxy S III. Not wanting to be left behind, LG has introduced its own offering, called Quick Voice. Functionality is basically the same: commands and natural conversations to call, text, launch apps, search and much more, like searching YouTube for instance. The ...

What's better than a brand-new smartphone? A big ol' box full of new smartphones, obviously. According to a newly-leaked pic, it looks like Verizon is starting to receive shipments of a new LG model, which very well may be the manufacturer's 2GB-RAM-packing Optimus LTE2. How do we get from model LG-VS930 to the LTE2? Well, the LG-VS930 is tied to LG codename D1L through some benchmark results from earlier this year. That D1L is one we talked about before, when we heard that it would have specs like a dual-core 1.5GHz S4 processor, a 4.7-inch 720p display, and an LTE modem. Those just ...

The LG Optimus LTE II, with its 2GB of RAM, tried to steal a little bit of spotlight from Samsung and its Galaxy S III announcement in London, as we learned initial details about the phone on May 4, and follow-up capabilities shortly after. Needless to say that the main selling point of the phone is the fact that it is "the world’s first smartphone offering 2GB RAM for optimal LTE connectivity, speed and stability". It is powered by a 1.5GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor and has a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Display with 1280 x 720 resolution. Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16GB ...
