We've known for some weeks now that LG's Optimus L9 would be finding a home at T-Mobile this fall. At the time of that news, neither T-Mobile nor LG were willing to say anything along the lines of just when the phone would hit stores, and hadn't yet revealed at what price the handset would launch. Some leaks managed to at least give us an idea of when to expect the L9, but we had been awaiting official confirmation. That comes through today, upon T-Mobile announcing that the LG L9 will go up for sale on October 31. An earlier roadmap also suggested the same Halloween release, and now that ...

We've heard about a bunch of new phones soon to be showing up a T-Mobile, but just when will they all actually arrive? Today we get a better idea at retail launch dates for a couple models, representing both Android and Windows Phone camps. Even before the HTC Windows Phone 8X was announced, we saw it pop-up in an earlier T-Mobile leak, back when it was still going by the codename HTC Accord. At the time, the phone was tied to a November 14 launch date. Especially with early leaks, dates have a way of changing over time, but in this case it looks like things are still on-track, with the ...

The LG Optimus G may be the most exciting smartphone to come from the company in a long time, and could even find itself at the heart of an upcoming Nexus-series handset. Still we shouldn't let news of the Optimus G overshadow the rest of LG's lineup, which includes some decent mid-range devices like the Optimus L9. We got a chance to go hands-on with the L9 back during IFA, and now it's coming to the US, with T-Mobile announcing plans to carry the smartphone. Don't look for a blazing quad-core S4 here, with the L9 relegated to a more pedestrian 1GHz dual-core SoC. The rest of the phone's ...

Here in America, the smartphone landscape doesn't always follow in lockstep with the rest of the planet. Sometimes we get hot new devices months ahead of the rest of the planet, as with the American-made Motorola Droid RAZR M; other times, we only see widespread availability of cool hardware months after release- the Nokia Lumia 800 and PureView 808 are good examples. And carrier sponsorship -or lack thereof- has a huge effect on whether a particular smartphone gains traction here. It's for this reason that LG hasn't featured strongly in my writing here at Pocketnow, or in my life in ...

As we reported just a couple days ago, the Optimus G isn't LG's only offering for the upcoming fall season. The new L9 features a dual-core 1GHz CPU with a deceptively large 4.7″ IPS display, 1GB of RAM, and a lightweight build. The newest iteration of the LG UI featured here is pretty interesting, allowing users to customize individual app icons, home screen transitions, and more. On top of that, the experience is light and snappy, feeling more like stock Android than a skinned build. Check out the video below for our full hands-on from IFA in Berlin.

Recently LG announced its latest flagship phone, the Optimus G, which impressively packs Qualcomm's quad-core S4 chip running at 1.5GHz. Not forgetting the budget-minded buyer, they've also announced the L9: a dual-core 1GHz phone with a 4.7" IPS display (no word on display resolution just yet), 1GB of RAM, and handsome symmetrical design with an elongated home button. Reminding us that it's a budget device, the L9 can take photos at just 5MP. It'll ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and will include new software to allow the user to customize the on-screen keyboard to optimize ...
