Even though LG's Optimus G is by all consideration still a quite new handset, we've already been hearing rumors about a G2 for some months now. We looked at a few of those back in November, when we heard the phone would feature a 1080p display and get a nice processor bump, moving up to one clocked at 2.0GHz. Now some new rumors add a little support to those claims, and make it look like the G2 could be ready to make an appearance at the 2013 CES next week. The LG Optimus G may certainly be an impressive phone, but we've already started to piece together the story of the company's follow-up flagship device. HTC got the ball rolling on 1080p smartphones with its Droid DNA, and now plenty of the other OEMs look ready to follow suit; we already caught wind of at least one LG 1080p model in some benchmark results earlier this month. Now a new report claims that LG is preparing to release the so-called Optimus G2 sometime around next May. Like that model we saw in the benchmarks, the G2 would supposedly employ a 1080p display.
