Watching what XDA does to new devices is like witnessing a car getting stripped and placed on concrete blocks in a bad part of town. They really don’t move on until they’ve extracted every last usable bit. In this case, they’ve been dissecting the dual-core processor equipped LG Optimus 2X. We already hooked you up with a clock/weather widget, standard wallpapers, and ringtones from the device; well, now it’s time for some Live Wallpapers.
Ghost99k, from XDA, pulled four Live Wallpapers for use on other Android 2.2 (or higher) handsets. One of them [...]
The clock & weather combo widget from the LG Optimus 2X Android-powered smartphone has been pulled from a system dump of the device, allowing other Android users to enable it on their daily drivers as well. As usual, the extracting comes by way of XDA, but there’s quite an annoying limitation at the moment. Although the widget takes up only half the screen visually, the version out of XDA gobbles up all slots on the Home screen, leaving no room for other widgets or app shortcuts. Luckily, if you’re using a customizable Home screen replacement, like LauncherPro or [...]
LG’s Optimus 2X, the first dual-core smartphone on the market, will ship in a white version come February, according to the Korean manufacturer. The regular black model went on sale in LG’s home country yesterday.
Ever since Apple’s highly-publicized difficulties with manufacturing a white iPhone 4, the color has attained a certain air of mystique, as if Cupertino’s troubles — reportedly related to the camera — were indicative of an industry-wide challenge. Incidentally, the white iPhone 4 will likely begin shipping in early [...]
Launched back in December 2010, the LG Optimus 2X is the world’s first dual-core smartphone and is set to arrive to Australia somewhere at the end of Q1, beginning of Q2, according to LG Electronics Australia.
Expected in Europe early 2011, it is already available for preorder but the Australian version is taking its time. According to Nathan Dunn, General Manager of Mobile for LG Electronics Australia, the Android powered dual-core LG Optimus 2X we had our hands-on with — that records excellent 1080p video by the way — will be carried exclusively on one or [...]
Thanks to the need of smartphone OEM employees to share test photos amongst one another, sites like Picasa and Flickr are full of images captured with unreleased and, in some cases, unannounced devices. Most of these shots are about as inartistic as you can imagine: picture after picture of people’s keyboards, mice, and coffee mugs — when they’re not macro shots of the wall. However, there are always a few gems among the junk, and we’ve managed to collect decent snaps of almost every handset announced at CES. (Full disclosure: we cheated with the Inspire 4G and [...]
The LG Optimus 2X — the world’s first dual-core smartphone — was launched back in December and, according to the specs, we knew that its eight-megapixel rear camera is capable of recording 1080p FullHD videos.
Thanks to the Greek website Techblog, we can now enjoy a short video recording sample shot with the Optimus 2X in 1080p. We got to say we’re quite impressed by the recording quality — aside from the digital zoom which pretty much behaves the same on all devices, camcorders, cameras or phones — especially if we compare it to other [...]
At CES we got some hands on with LG’s dual-core powered Android handset, the Optimus 2x. Overall we found it to be a fast device, thanks to the Tegra 2 CPU powered the device matted to 512MB of RAM. It also had a gorgeous 4″ WVGA display with fantastic contrast. It’s not likely that the Optimus 2x will see a US release, at least for a while, so it comes as no surprise that it’s going up for preorder in Europe. eXpansys is showing the smartphone for £499.99, which comes out to about $770. They’re showing a ship date of around February 21. While you could [...]
Joining the ranks of Motorola which is also releasing Tegra 2 powered dual-core goodness a la the Droid Bionic and Atrix 4G, LG was showing the Optimus 2x at CES, which felt faster than the aforementioned devices from Motorola. The 4″ WVGA screen was also quite impressive with great contrast, vivid colors, and crisp icons. Compared to the Revolution, the Optimus 2x was quite thin and light, though not as light as the Optimus Black. As with most of the device we saw today, the Optimus 2x is running on Android 2.2.1.
Launched as the world’s first dual-core smartphone mid-December 2010, LG Optimus 2X is featured in an extended close to three-minute ad or presentation where the manufacturer shows off the power of the Tegra2 powered smartphone.
The video emphasizes on the Tegra2 chip which is powering the device and offers improved performance for launching applications and switching quickly between them for multi-tasking. Fast internet speeds delivered are also featured as well as the HDMI-out capability, the FullHD 1080p video recording and playback as well as the gaming experience on [...]
LG’s dual-core Tegra2 powered Optimus 2X, launched mid-December 2010, has been put to the test against Apple’s iPhone 4 in terms of browser speed and Internet navigation.
Looks like the Korea-manufactured Android handset is a clear winner two times in a row with both devices being connected to WiFi (according to the icons in the notification area). We could ask questions about browser cache and similar in terms of test fairness but we won’t; instead, we’ll just bow our heads to the processing power of the Tegra2 and how the Flash-enabled browser takes [...]
LG announced today that the LG Optimus 2X Tegra2 powered dual-core Android smartphone will be available in Europe starting next month, after its official launch last week.
The device, also known before as the LG Star, will feature an exclusive collection of music and ringtones written by movie soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone, consisting of 15 ringtones composed specifically for LG and 10 of his best-known tunes from the world of cinema — with free images and video clips coming also next year. Nothing was mentioned related to pricing but we have a general idea thanks to [...]
LG has recently launched the world’s first Tegra2 powered dual-core Android smartphone, the LG Optimus 2X and we heard rumors that T-Mobile will have it in its line-up.
Android and Me is citing an un-named but trusted source according to which T-Mobile will carry the LG Optimus 2X around March 2011. The reason for this is that T-Mobile will be allegedly shipping the device with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box and the time until March is needed to prepare everything for the launch. If T-Mobile is really serious about the device (and if the rumors turn out to be true) [...]
The dual-core handset codenamed Star, and just revealed as the LG Optimus 2X, has passed the FCC on its way to retail. Unfortunately for Tegra-hungry Americans, this version of the so-called P990 looks to be solely a European-spec’ed device, although its support for AT&T 3G in the 1900MHz band means that importers can expect wireless broadband in some domestic markets.
With a dual-core Tegra 2 processor from Nvidia, the Optimus 2X has blown through initial benchmarks, creating quite a buzz surrounding the four-inch, Froyo-powered device. Expected to be one of [...]
We were wondering about the price of the just released LG Optimus 2X Tegra2 dual-core Android smartphone and looks like we can have an approximate idea about how much it will cost. Right from the start, this might only be a placeholder or a special pre-order price but a Swedish Etailer has the device listed on its own dedicated page.
It goes for 4,999 Swedish kronors (roughly $731 or 555EU) without a subscription and 3,099 Swedish kronors (roughly $453 or 344EU) with a contract. Whether the webmaster is only playing a bit or any of these might indicate a price close to the [...]
While some smartphone names are more fanciful than others, there’s nothing quite like one that’s just a straightforward, cut-and-dry assessment of the phone. That looks to be the case with the German localization of the upcoming LG Optimus 2X, which is reported to be named the Optimus Speed.
After all, with a dual-core Tegra2 processor, the first such chip in a smartphone, the Optimus 2X is poised to deliver some serious performance upon its release. Thankfully, the phone’s development name, the LG Star, has been dropped in favor of these more descriptive [...]
The sexy looking LG “B” we showed you yesterday was confirmed by LG in a tweet that said the “super slim & super bright” device will be on display at CES early next year. On a “see it to believe it” note, LG confirmed the existence of the thinner-than-the-iPhone Android smartphone but the tweet got quickly deleted. Maybe the world wasn’t supposed to know about the fabulous AMOLED-killer IPS LCD screen on the (roughly) 8mm thick device. We have a feeling we’ll hear (see) more about the “B” till CES though.
As far as [...]
LG has tipped the name and model number of its upcoming dual-core Android-powered smartphone, codenamed Star. In a press release about another fairly powerful Froyo model poised to hit South Korea, the 1GHz TI OMAP 3630-equipped LU3000 a.k.a. the LG Optimus Mach (pictured below), the manufacturer casually revealed that the Star will be known — in Korea, at least — as the LG Optimus 2X, model number SU660. Doing a little digging, Phandroid was able to find several more videos of this model on YouTube (embedded bottom), some of which prove that the initial Quadrant benchmarks [...]
LG officially launched the LG Optimus 2X Android smartphone, the world’s first Tegra2-powered dual-core processor-enabled handset.
Codenamed LG Star, the device seemed to blow the Samsung Galaxy S away in comparison videos earlier this week. Powered by nVidia’s Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip processor clocked at 1GHz, the Optimus 2X offers 1080p HD video recording and playback as well as delivering multimedia content via both DLNA and HDMI. It currently runs Android 2.2 Froyo but it will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Besides the 1GHz Tegra2 processor, [...]
