Skipping listener mail for two weeks in a row? We know, we know ... unconscionable. But we also know you'll forgive us in exchange for two things: a packed review schedule, and an awesome podcast guest. We're bringing you both of those as the week winds down to a close. In addition to the usual news segment narrated by the soothing voice of Chief News Editor Stephen Schenck, we've got additional insights on Samsung's new Galaxy S5: how it compares to its forebears, how well it fares against competition like the HTC One M8, and a debate on the merits of standout features like the ...

The new HTC One M8 introduced us to Sense 6, and new owners of the smartphone are already getting a chance to enjoy the software. What about those who have older HTC, devices, though? When will they get their own shot? Right before the M8 debuted, we heard a rumor attempting to outline HTC's strategy for updating current phones with Sense 6. According to that document, the original One M7 might see its update land in either May or June. Then at the One M8 launch itself, HTC confirmed plans for these Sense 6 updates, but without nailing down a precise timetable. Well, today we've finally ...

The HTC One (M8) has received positive overall feedback -- and there's a reason why it scored so high in our full review -- but at the same time there were voices on the internet -- cause that's what HTC is telling you, to "ask the internet" -- that were not satisfied at all with the black space below the screen, where the HTC logo resides (and where the capacitive buttons were placed on the previous iteration of the phone). According to HTC's own Jeff Gordon, the "black area with the HTC logo" "not "empty" by any means". Apparently, as the HTC exec explains, "underneath is a huge amount ...

One of my favorite shows of all time is Joss Whedon's Firefly. Like most of Whedon's shows, a passionate fan base quickly emerged. Unfortunately, it was cancelled after just one season, and none of the networks wanted to pick it up for a second. Why? The numbers weren't that great. The characters, the sets, and the story were all fantastic. So why did it do so poorly? Even Serenity, the major motion picture that followed the series, didn't break any box office records. Why? In both cases, it came down to marketing -- or the lack thereof. We're seeing the same thing play out again, only ...

If you're looking to buy a phone and the one at the top of your list has been around for a while (the Nexus 5, for example) you could easily take it for a spin. For devices that have just been released (or are still awaiting release from certain carriers), or if you'll be ordering your phone online, going "hands on" before pulling out your wallet may be a luxury that you cannot afford, or may be impossible depending the part of the world you call home. In those situations, sites likes Pocketnow try and take the guess work out of your decision process by providing in-depth reviews and ...

Apple follows the news as new patents have the company exploring dual cameras for thinner iPhones. Samsung is next as rumors continue about manufacturing delays with the Galaxy S5. We end today's show with HTC, as we get the company's official launch of the HTC One M8, ...

Have you ever put most your faith – or all of it, for that matter – in something? Chances are, you have. Odds are also pretty high that something you put your faith in let you down, at least once by now, unless you're an overly-cautious (read: likely very boring, uneventful) person. That feeling you get when it happens, though, that pit in your stomach, is exactly what I'm feeling right this minute. After seeing Samsung's Galaxy S 5 announcement, I wasn't enthused. I'm still not. Sony's Xperia Z2 seems to be the hotness, but I'm not salivating over Sony's squared, industrial design ...

We'll have extensive coverage on the 2014 HTC One, and we're going to bring you our first impressions, live, in our usual Editorial Roundtable. The HTC M8 leaks again, just as we were wondering what else is there to say at the event that would surprise us. This time around, following up on yesterday's hands-on video leaked (in German), we're seeing the M8 being compared to its predecessor, the 2013 flagship, the M7. Embedded below, for your viewing pleasure, is a video coming from TechSmartt on YouTube. The comparison looks at similarities and differences in design, hardware, software, and performance. The official unveiling event happens later in the day, but this video should get you through the waiting. Enjoy all nine minutes ...

Tomorrow, we're looking forward to Sense 6.0 debuting on the all new HTC One; for something that's not yet official, that news is all but certain. OK, but what does Sense 6.0's arrival mean for all the other HTC hardware? What existing devices might be getting Sense 6.0 by means of future updates – and then, when might we hope to see those updates arrive? Well, apparently HTC's current problem with leaks extends far beyond the new One itself, and the latest identifies its plans for bringing Sense 6.0 to last year's One, One Max, and One Mini. The first device to get a Sense 6.0 update ...

March 25 is the day HTC is expected to release the 2014 follow-up for the HTC One, and even without today's leak, we were wondering what else is there that HTC can say in order to surprise us. The phone, and its features, related aspects, have been leaked extensively over the past couple of weeks, but today we're seeing a full 14-minute video hands-on of the yet unannounced device. It is German, so if you don't happen to speak the language, you'll have to settle for the video footage itself. Apparently the phone is being called "HTC One" and not "The New HTC One", at least that's what's ...

March 25 is when the world expects HTC to show off the successor of the 2013 One, tentatively called The All New HTC One. While there is no rumor yet regarding availability -- despite the cornucopia of leaks that show off almost every aspect of the upcoming phone -- HTC has lowered the price for the last year model, probably in preparation for the 2014 One. You can grab the 2013 HTC One discounted for $499.99 (down $100), or you might as well wait for a couple of more weeks and go for the newer version. Don't get us wrong, the 2013 HTC One is still an exceptional device, with a solid ...
