Back in June we saw Microsoft begin making some headway towards bringing Office to competing platforms, and witnessed the arrival of an iOS port of Office for the iPhone. While this was progress, we were also wondering when the same sort of package might become available for Android users. Today we get our answer, with Microsoft releasing Office Mobile for Android phones. That's "phones," specifically, because just like the iOS version, this one isn't designed for tablet-sized displays. It's also – just like on iOS – a subscription-only app, meaning there's no way to pay once and ...

With the latter apparently ready to go, we were hoping that we'd see Office arrive sometime this year. A new roadmap now ...

The first signs of an in-development version of Office for iOS arrived all the way back in February, but Microsoft has been very cagey about its existence ever since. We got a chance to see what appeared to be the app running on an iPad back then, and while Microsoft responded that the discovery was plagued by "bad info", it didn't elaborate and give us the full picture on what we could really hope to expect. Rumors have trickled out ever since, including some sourced to Microsoft's Czech division, and about a month ago we got a look at some screenshots which seemed to show the app in ...
