The smartphone SoC race is starting to heat up in 2014, following last year's lull punctuated by the failure of NVIDIA's Tegra 4 to catch on in any meaningful way. But now not only is NVIDIA making a comeback, but other parties are getting involved, as well. For a while now we've been looking forward to LG's first effort, but well over a year later, we're still waiting. The G3 may have launched without Odin under the hood, but we could finally be getting ready for our first run-in with an Odin-powered phone, as a rumor attempts to identify where Odin will make its first appearance. ...

The Sony Yuga and Odin, aka the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, have been no strangers when it comes to rumors and leaks. We've recently seen the two phones allegedly captured on camera after previously hearing all sorts of hear-say about the two members of the 2013 Sony line-up. With CES just around the corner (and MWC following soon after that) the reports are becoming more and more numerous. This leak though is not your ordinary leak: it comes straight from Sony. The two press shots seen above have surfaced on the manufacturer's website and the file names are pretty self explanatory: we're ...

Some rumors that arrived yesterday helped attempt to answer a few of the questions we've had about Sony's upcoming Yuga and Odin Androids, including that the Odin would supposedly arrive as the Xperia X. While we've had a few looks at leaked pics of the Yuga, Odin's been far more elusive, and the one really nice image we had to go by turned out to be a (very well done) fan-made render. So, just how will the Odin look? A hands-on report posted to a Vietnamese smartphone forum takes a stab at a few specifics, but what it has to say is just a little odd. This "reliable source" describes the ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the recent rumors of Apple and Intel working together to build a new watch. Then Toshiba makes the scene after years of smartphone irrelevance to show us their new project, which consists of bringing Lytro technology to smartphones. Later we talk about the Sony Xperia X and Xperia Z which are rumored to be launched at CES 2013. Believe it or not, the HTC HD2 is next after almost half a decade of existence, and this time because it can now run Windows RT. We end today's show talking about Google's app choices for 2012's best. Yes, blooper ...

For the past several months, we've been fielding rumors about the Sony Androids under development with codenames Odin and Yuga. They sounded pretty similar, both supposedly sporting 1080p displays, and we've recently begun to hear details about how they might arrive, with the Yuga rumored to launch as the Xperia Z. Today we hear a little more about how that phone could make its debut, as well as how Odin fits into the picture. According to these latest claims, the Odin will go up for sale as the Xperia X. While it and the Yuga/Xperia Z will have slightly different looks, Sony may intend ...

Lately, we've been hearing more and more details rumored about Sony's upcoming 1080p Androids, codenamed Odin and Yuga. It's started to look like the Yuga could be the Japanese version of the phone, while Odin would see an international release. As we wait to get official news on the phones (fingers crossed for CES or MWC), some images have surfaced that may be the first pictures we've seen captured with this Sony hardware. Back around when we first heard the name Odin mentioned, it was associated with three different model numbers. The presumption at the time was that these models C6502, ...

We've got some opinions of our own about what Sony should be planning for its Android offerings next year, but if we concentrate on those rumors we've actually heard, there have been two models at the forefront of what Sony's been developing: the models codenamed Yuga and Odin. Both have been attached to specs like five-inch 1080p screens, but why would Sony be planning two such very similar handsets? Some new rumors hope to clarify just what Sony's thinking there, as well as provide us some new details about the phones' construction. Supposedly, the Yuga might be the hardware that Japan ...

For the past several weeks, we've been hearing about a new high-end Sony Android, supposedly being developed as codename Odin. With rumored specs like a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro and a 1080p screen, it seemed likely that this would be Sony's next flagship model, competing with phones like the HTC Droid DNA we've been following for Verizon. A little over a week back, we got a look at what was supposedly the phone's hardware itself, and to that image we can now add a leaked render that's just managed to surface. Indeed, this image matches that previous shot (shown below) nearly perfectly. ...

With so many fakes and hoaxes floating on the interwebs these days (and coincidentally, of the same maker as this bit right here) it is quite easy to get fooled when looking at images of a phone. Also taking the source of this picture's first appearance in consideration, which is called Concept-Phones, you won't judge us too hard if we're a bit skeptical (hint: if you look at the speaker together with the branding, these are off center; the buttons on the right don't seem right). It claims to represent the upcoming Sony flagship we've heard about recently, dubbed 'Odin'. The alleged specs ...
