Samsung’s got something big planned for CTIA next week, and the expectations are running high that we’ll finally get a look at the Nexus Prime in all its Ice Cream Sandwich glory. Assuming that actually goes down, and Samsung debuts the handset, when might we hope for it to hit the carriers? There’s a new email leak out of Verizon that suggests big red could have the phone by October 27.
All we have is the text of the message, not even a screenshot (not that someone couldn’t just-as-easily fake a screenshot), so get your skeptic helmet on. Supposedly the [...]
We know there will be a Samsung Unpacked event at the upcoming CTIA where everyone is expecting the company to unveil its next Google-phone, the rumored Nexus Prime.
The teaser video below doesn’t give much away but if you fast forward there’s something showing at the end. It’s up to you to decide whether that’s the first look at the Nexus Prime with a (too) curved screen a-la Nexus S or something else. The new Exynos processor should be inside the next Google phone to give that extra boost Ice Cream Sandwich might need but it looks like we’ll have [...]
With October upon us, it’s just a matter of days until Samsung and Google debut their new gear what we’re hoping very much to be the Nexus Prime. In advance of the planned October 11 event, a picture has arrived of what’s claimed to be the Nexus Prime itself, showing off its high resolution, high density screen.
While this tease of an image only shows off one small bit of the phone’s exterior, we can see via the software its running that the phone does indeed have a 720p display. Why only 1184 pixels high, though? Don’t forget this is Ice Cream [...]
We already know that Samsung is preparing an Unpacked event for October 11 at CTIA but at the time we’ve seen the logo teaser we didn’t know what to expect. Things changed a bit with Samsung sending out invitations for the event.
If you check out the above image, you can clearly see that something Android related will be unpacked. Additionally, the “Google Episode” reference further hints towards a joint Samsung-Google unveiling and last time we checked it was the next Google Nexus device. Call it Nexus Prime, Galaxy Nexus or whatever you want, all things [...]
October is shaping up to be a very big time for new smartphone hardware, due in no small part to Apple’s plans to announce its next iPhone(s). If you’re not on the Apple bandwagon, there’s still plenty of new hardware on other platforms that’s being eagerly anticipated, like the Nexus Prime from Samsung. We’ve been fielding plenty of rumors addressing the reveal and release plans for the smartphone (as well as Android Ice Cream Sandwich), and now a new one looks at the possibility the Nexus Prime will make its debut at CTIA.
The theory is centered [...]
This weekend we learned from a leakster that the Google Nexus Prime will most probably land on Verizon on November 3. That same leakster has tweeted further information implying that the phone will see a global launch with both GSM and WiMAX support.
With “GSM or wimax radios inside”, the Google Nexus Prime, as it should be the case of a pure-Android phone, should work without a problem on carriers like AT&T or Sprint. Whether we’ll see a November 3 launch for the global model or only the Verizon variant is yet unknown though Samsung (and Google) would [...]
Google Nexus Prime, Samsung Nexus Prime, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and so on… There are many names to it but in fact it’s one device that the Android enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for. The pure Android phone will be allegedly landing at Verizon on November 3.
The information comes in a rather cryptic form: “Fore on the date Bruce Wayne’s true father did die; you shall in fact be able to buy in stores of red and black”, tweets Tom Fleming. Well, Bob Kane, the creator of Batman (Bruce Wayne) did die on November 3 and the “red and black” [...]
Here’s a new set of rumors about the upcoming Samsung Nexus Prime — it still can’t even get close to the number of rumors the iPhone 5 gets. It appears that it will reach the market as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The information allegedly comes from a Samsung rep; he said that the highly anticipated phone will be indeed called Samsung Galaxy Nexus — wonder what will happen with Samsung’s newly adopted naming convention? It will reportedly sport a 4.65-inch HD display of 1280 x 720 resolution, 1 GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot, will [...]
Samsung Prime rumors continue to pour in! Remember when the phone allegedly showed up at Verizon Wireless headquarters? Today’s rumor is related to Verizon too as the phone was reportedly seen at the Verizon Developer’s conference in Las Vegas.
A person claiming to be a Samsung employee held an unknown Android phone and, according to reports, it was the Samsung Prime. Those who saw the phone (because they were stripped of any devices capable of immortalizing the moment) claim that the Prime is indeed a larger Nexus S. Taller and thicker, it sports an eight-megapixel [...]
We recently uncovered some new evidence that helps us to nail-down the name of the Android Ice Cream Sandwich launch device as the Nexus Prime, as well as giving us some hints about the device’s hardware capabilities. The hardware’s just part of it, though, making the phone’s release dependent on the availability of ICS. Google’s been talking about a Q4 release for the updated operating system, but we may be able to narrow that down a little more now, thanks to a comment Google’s Eric Schmidt recently made.
Schmidt stated, speaking at the Dreamforce [...]
Watch this week’s Android Revolution as we go through what’s hot and what’s not inside the world of Google’s Android Project. In today’s show we go through all, and we mean “all” the Samsung device releases we got during the week in both their US event and their IFA event in Berlin. We go through the release of the Motorola Droid Pro and the final release dates for the LG Thrill 4G. We also dig in to a huge list of rumors, which include more information on what to expect on the Google Nexus Prime, or Droid Prime probably. We talk about our [...]
Yesterday we heard a rumor that Verizon would be making up for its lack of a Samsung Galaxy S2 by carrying an even more-hotly-anticipated smartphone, the Droid Prime, which would launch Android Ice Cream Sandwich. While details were sparse, we learned that the handset would likely be going by model number SCH-i515. That designation is already starting to pop up in the usual places we see a phone visit prior to its release, putting in an appearance with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.
The smartphone’s Bluetooth 3.0 certification backs-up some of what we’ve heard [...]
After seeing the Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile variants of the Samsung Galaxy S II, it became even clearer that Verizon is passing on the phone. Following basic logic, one would think that the Galaxy S II LTE (SGS2 refresh) would be a great choice for Verizon but it appears that the carrier has other plans: Droid Prime.
The Google Nexus Prime is known to be the next upcoming Google phone and Samsung’s legal team has recently confirmed that the Korean manufacturer is indeed making the phone. According to BGR’s sources, Verizon will get a Samsung SCH-i515 in October, [...]
Earlier this month, one of BGR’s sources with information on the development of Google’s next Nexus devices let slip some supposed details of the smartphone, like a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, full 720p display, and a possible name. Now armed with some follow-up info, BGR is confirming many of those specs, as well as naming Samsung the manufacturer of the handset, which it now believes may be called the Nexus Prime.
The 720p screen will purportedly be of the Super AMOLED variety, with a new HD designation. In further support of the claim processor choice, BGR now names the [...]
Watch this week’s Android Revolution as we go through what’s hot and what’s not in the world of Google’s Android project. This week we discuss the recent teaser of a Samsung event in Berlin on September 1st and we also breeze through all the leaks of the week, which by the way include information on the Google Nexus Prime and how it may bring a 720p resolution screen to the market. We go through all the all the Andriod Smartphone releases for the week and all the software updates you definitely must look out for. In the Dark Side we go through the HTC Evo 3D [...]
Back at the end of June we heard that Samsung was allegedly the one to manufacture Google’s next pure-Android phone — pretty much like the Nexus S. That phone is rumored to be called the Nexus Prime and has reportedly surfaced inside Verizon’s HQ.
The next Nexus is not only rumored to be running Google Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich but it will also allegedly sport a 720p display with 720 x 1280 resolution. There are various rumors about the phone’s display size, some hinting 4.5 inches and others talking about 4.65. We’ve also heard rumors of a Texas [...]
There are so many rumors around the next Google Nexus phone, allegedly called the Nexus Prime, that we already take it for granted Samsung is making it. In case you have any doubts, the manufacturer’s legal team comes to the rescue basically confirming the Samsung-made Google Nexus Prime.
In the screenshot above (full size) you’ll see a Cease and Desist letter from the Korean manufacturer’s legal team trying to stop a firmware leak for the Nexus Prime. Not only the letter confirms the existence of the phone but it also brings confirmation to the fact that [...]
A Samsung SCH-i515 is believed to be Verizon’s Droid Prime to arrive sometime in October while the Nexus Prime, confirmed by Samsung’s legal team, is believed to be the GT-i9250 (probably the same device with its carrier variant or two different models altogether).
For what it’s worth, a support page has been discovered online for the Samsung GT-i9250, which by itself doesn’t mean much, but in the big picture it means that the phone is getting ready for prime-time. What to expect? A 4.5-4.65-inch HD screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, a fast, dual-core [...]
Samsung has already basically confirmed its involvement in the development of the Google Nexus Prime — the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered successor to the Nexus S — and now the device’s user agent profile has surfaced. The big news here, besides the fact that the name for GT-I9250’s UAProf is nexusprime.xml, is the rather surprising (and perhaps disappointing) listing of a 480×800 WVGA resolution.
Now, it’s certainly possible that Samsung falsified the information here, under the assumption that this document would be made public; after all, the [...]
