We had a vague general idea about iPad mini and fourth generation iPad sales judging by the pre-orders which sold out one after the other but now Apple has published official sales numbers and they are looking good. These numbers refer to first-weekend sales (starting November 2) and they are double compared to those from March when the 3rd gen. iPad went on sale. Apple sold three million iPads throughout the weekend, in just three days. Apple seems to count both the iPad mini and the 4th gen. iPad in its total three million numbers and it also apparently only refers to WiFi only models. ...

Apple introduced both the iPad mini and the fourth generation iPad at its keynote on October 23. Pre-orders were available staring October 25 and both items seem to have sold more than the initial stock, with the iPad mini selling out first, followed by the New iPad with Retina Display. Pre-orders should arrive at owners' doorsteps today, November 2, which also marks the brick-and-mortar store availability.
