The HTC-made T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide just recently received its platform update which unfortunately is not Android 2.3 Gingerbread so you’ll have to settle for the 2.2 Froyo version of Google’s mobile operating system.
The update is not over-the-air and what’s even more strange is that it’s PC-only (sorry Mac users) but it boosts your versions to Android 2.2.1 Froyo. With the code to the kernel and drivers developers and tinkerers can start building custom ROMs which can make the smartphones go faster, batteries last longer, and who knows what other sorts of cool stuff!

HTC’s official Sync application for Android devices was recently updated for APAC & EU HTC Hero (Android 2.1), HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Legend, Desire, Wildfire, HTC Aria (APAC Only) and now it’s time for an update that will also support U.S. devices.
