We had a few moments to put the recently-announced HTC EVO 4G LTE up against the new Windows Phone-powered Nokia Lumia 900 at the EVO 4G LTE launch event in New York. These phones are very different. The EVO 4G LTE runs with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and utilizes HTC's Sense 4.0 interface, while the Lumia 900 is running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango with a small handful of software additions made by Nokia. The Lumia 900 is certainly heavier than the EVO 4G LTE, despite being less tall and wide. The Lumia 900 also has a less precise screen due to its WVGA resolution, but if you like the deep ...

First off let's compare the pricing. The Lumia 900 is available from AT&T for $99 with a new contract, or $49 from Walmart, or $0.01 from Amazon. The Galaxy Nexus is much more expensive at $299.99 from Verizon with a new 2 year contract, though it can also be found from Amazon for $99. Next, let's talk about LTE speeds and battery life. I've found the AT&T LTE network to be a bit slower than Verizon's LTE network, however AT&T seems to be more stable. I've seen the Galaxy Nexus lose its connection and never get it back numerous times. For battery life, the Galaxy Nexus is pretty good as ...

Nokia's Lumia 900 has done what seemed improbable for a Windows Phone: the black version has topped the charts in Amazon's "Best Sellers in AT&T" category, with the cyan variant holding down the number-three spot as of this writing. For a device running the least-popular smartphone platform, that's not half bad. Those ratings are based on pre-orders, since the device hasn't yet been released. And the buzz surrounding that pre-order is doubtless the source of some of the device's early success: while Amazon is known for excellent pricing on some pre-release hardware, it's still relatively ...

Chris Weber, President of Nokia Inc. North America, has received lots of emails about this new website called Smartphone Beta Test, and this means that the ball is rolling. April 8 is the day when the Nokia Lumia 900 will be available on AT&T's network but the countdown on the website seems to refer to a somewhat earlier date. At a first glance, there's no indication that we're looking at an official Nokia website. However, if you take a closer look at the top left, you can almost see the Nokia logo under that black chalk. That, and some references to Nokia's website found inside the web ...

Aside from the fact that the Nokia Lumia 900 is already on back-order with Amazon Wireless -- the phone officially went on pre-order on March 30 with an in-store availability date announced for April 8 -- it appears that it is doing quite well. As you can see in the image above (and at the source link below), we not only have one, but two Nokia Lumia 900 phones on the top spots of Amazon's best-selling AT&T devices. Both the black and cyan variants rule the list and this is just three days after the official pre-orders received the green light. Furthermore, Amazon's list of best-selling ...

We started-off the week by learning of the official AT&T launch plans for the Nokia Lumia 900. That included news of the phone's April 8 arrival and the opportunity to get your pre-order in starting today, March 30. For those of you who were really impatient, we saw the opportunity to get in an early pre-order with Microsoft a few days ago. If you were patient, though, now that pre-orders for the phone have gone widespread, we're already seeing the first big discount for the already-cheap Lumia 900, letting you grab one for half price. In order to secure a Lumia 900 for just about $50 ...

The screenshots above come from Russia and they are allegedly snapped off of Nokia's upcoming TV application to soon grace Lumia Windows Phones. Nokia TV would nicely compliment an already interesting application offering that the Espoo-company is offering to its Windows Phone customers. According to the report, Nokia TV will allow for video show streaming on WiFi and Data from a searchable database of local network offerings. The first country to see the app will allegedly be Finland, with local stations like YLE, MTV3 and Nelopen being supported. There's no info on a specific release ...

Back at the beginning of February, way before we had anything resembling a confirmed release date for the Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T in the US, Microsoft decided to be a little proactive and start accepting pre-orders for the smartphone at its retail stores. For a brief time, you could put down $25 towards securing a 900 when the phones eventually arrived. Just a week later, Microsoft abruptly put a stop to these pre-orders, accepting no more and giving no explanation for the change of heart. With the 900's launch plans now official, Microsoft is re-opening pre-orders, giving you one last ...

Many Windows Phone fans on AT&T were happy to find out that the carrier finally announced the availability date and contract price for the highly anticipated Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan II. Thing is that the Lumia 900 is $100 cheaper on contract than the Titan II, which begs the question: why would you spend more? It turns out that the $100 difference between the two will still exist if you want to go with the phone only, without a contract. The Nokia Lumia 900 will reportedly go for $449.99 while the HTC Titan II will cost you $549.99. The same question remains: is the larger ...

Fans of underserved mobile platforms, rejoice! AT&T today announced the impending availability of two important flagship Windows Phones: the Titan II from HTC, and the Lumia 900 from Nokia. Each is available starting April 8, and each offers its own take on a premium Windows Phone experience. The biggest difference is pricing: HTC's offering comes in at $199, a full Benjamin more expensive than the more-buzzworthy Lumia. Why is there such a divergence in price between these similarly specced phones, and who would opt for the Titan over the Lumia? Let's take a break from Android and iOS and ...

This time it's official, folks! AT&T just let the wording loose telling you what you've been waiting for since CES. The Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone will be available on April 8, for $99. One of the first 4G LTE Windows Phones in the world, the Lumia 900 on AT&T, is announced as a carrier exclusive in the U.S. Cyan and black versions go up on pre-order on March 30 but the high-gloss white version will also be on sale beginning April 22, after the other two colors hit the stores on April 8. As a reminder, the Lumia 900 packs a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, 1830 mAh battery, ...

"I've played with the Lumia 900 at my local AT&T store. It's scheduled to come out on Easter Sunday, April 8 for $99.00 with a 2 year contract". This is the description of the video which you can see embedded below. Of course, the above information was subject to many rumors that were talking about an April 8/9 availability date as well as a sub-$100 price point. Whether this is indeed an AT&T store or not is up to you to believe. To us, the video looks legit and with so many rumors pointing towards the same thing, this might become reality. After recently updating its Nokia Drive and Maps applications for Windows Phone, the Finnish company isn't stopping here as the Nokia Music application also received a version bump to number two. The good folks at WPCentral reached out to Nokia and found out that the new version of Nokia Music only includes UI and audio improvements. However, every incremental version number counts and speaks of dedication. As it unfortunately turns out though, the application refresh is not available in the U.S. (which could be good news for international readers who were always complaining about U.S. ...

When Nokia and Microsoft agreed to collaborate last year in February it was not sure which company was the other one's safety belt; truth is Nokia needed to regain a huge chunk of the market lost and Microsoft needed a strong hardware partner to build the buzz for Windows Phone. After launching the first Windows Phones -- the Lumia 800 together with the Lumia 710 -- five months ago, Nokia is confident. "Our strategy is working. When we formed an alliance last year with Microsoft our intention was to regain lost share. After one year, it is still working. We are the number one Windows phone ...

There's been a recent surge in news regarding launch plans for the Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T in the US; last night, we talked about new support for the rumored April 9 retail launch date, and earlier today we saw a new coming soon page for the handset go live on AT&T's site. The latest chapter in the 900's saga arrives as the claim that Nokia is paying AT&T to feature the Lumia 900 as a "Company Use" phone to which its retail employees can get free access. The CU phone program is designed to encourage employee familiarity with the models, so AT&T lets its retail workers get the phones for ...

Now that more and more recent rumors and reports are indicating an April 8/April 9 launch for the Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T, this exact bit can only come as a further hint that you don't have to wait much longer for your 4G LTE Windows Phone made by Espoo. If you follow the source link below you'll land on a special "Coming Soon" page for the device over at the carrier. You'll find the most notable features of the phone there but what you will not find, sadly, is an official price or availability date. Still, it should be pretty close; usually these pages indicate a launch just around the ...

Back in the day when we reviewed the LG Optimus 7, one of the Windows Phone 7 launch devices, we took a closer look at the "Play To" DLNA application which since has been renamed by the manufacturer to SmartShare. However, Nokia is now releasing a Beta of a similar app, called "Play To", for Lumia Windows Phones. The principle is the very same: you can display pictures and videos on DLNA-capable devices over WiFi, if you are on the same network. These can be TV sets, BlueRay players, or a computer running Windows 7 for instance. Future releases will most definitely include Music streaming ...

It's nearly time for Windows Phone users to get their first LTE option, upon the arrival of Nokia's Lumia 900. At least, it feels like it's nearly time, since AT&T hasn't offered an official release date for the smartphone just yet. Last week, we checked-out a rumor that we'd be seeing the 900 finally arrive during the second week in April, with online availability starting on April 8, and the phone hitting stores on April 9. There's still no official word, but further reports from AT&T employees continue to offer support for the rumored dates, and demo units have already been spotted in ...

We already knew that the Nokia Lumia 900 is awesome, regardless if it's the AT&T iteration or the international one. Joe Belfiore, Microsoft's Head of Windows Phone just tweeted that he's been "using one for weeks and it rocks!" The whole story behind this is a bit more complicated. Joe Belfiore might or might have not responded to a Facebook private message inquiry regarding the Lumia 900 on AT&T. In the alleged conversation (seen below), Belfiore purportedly said that there were some problems which pushed back the launch to April. Truth is that there was no official announcement yet ...

If you have a Windows Phone made by Nokia, any of the Lumia devices, really, you will be able to use the Creative Studio which is now available as a free download if you have an Espoo-designed phone. It's basically a simple photo editing application which could help you get more out of a boring (or dull) image. The best feature is probably the live preview where you can see real-time results, in the camera application, of the effects you apply. That aside, there's also a panorama mode if you're interested and not willing to wait until the Lumia 800 gets this as a native feature. The ...

It's that time of the year again, when we're both happy and sad, excited and disappointed all at the same time. Last year's Mobile World Congress was all about three things: Android, 3D and speed offered by emerging dual-core processors. This year's show was not that much different at all, if you come to think of it. It's safe to assume that everyone who was there -- or following our MWC coverage -- understands that, again, Android was all over the place. With or without Ice Cream Sandwich on smartphones or tablets, the Google platform -- and its OEM partners -- has flooded the show floors ...

While Australia and Canada are preparing for Nokia Lumia 900 pre-orders, us in the States are still left wondering which one of the rumors to believe: first we had March 18 and more recently we've heard of an April 22 launch date. A new set of rumors has surfaced which adds even more variables to the equation: "very soon" and April 8 followed by 9. People (or probably just a single person) posting on various websites claim to have a connection with AT&T which brought it to their knowledge that the Lumia 900 will be available on April 8. Since it's a holiday, the phone will be available ...

Many seem to want the Nokia Windows Phone flagship. The Lumia 900 will be on pre-orders next week with Canada's Rogers, as we reported earlier, and it is now Australian e-tailer MobiCity's turn to put up a dedicated pre-order page. According to the page you'll find at the source link below, those who want to secure a unit have the opportunity of choosing between the white, black and cyan flavors. With no other accessories and standard warranty it is listed for AU$799.00 (around US$845). This is of course a no-contract price and once carriers will start having the phone in their line-up you ...
