Watch this week’s Windows Phone view as we wrap-up all that’s good and bad inside the world of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. In today’s show we begin by talking about all the rumors that surround the launch of the Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T. We later cover all the recent commitments that Nokia has made for the current Nokia Windows Phones in the market. We continue with our week’s coverage of the Nokia concept redesign for Windows Phone and Project Detroit. We later discuss the recent leaks of Windows Phone Tango’s multitasking capabilities [...]
Back in the day when we reviewed the LG Optimus 7, one of the Windows Phone 7 launch devices, we took a closer look at the “Play To” DLNA application which since has been renamed by the manufacturer to SmartShare.
However, Nokia is now releasing a Beta of a similar app, called “Play To”, for Lumia Windows Phones. The principle is the very same: you can display pictures and videos on DLNA-capable devices over WiFi, if you are on the same network. These can be TV sets, BlueRay players, or a computer running Windows 7 for instance. Future releases will most [...]
If you have a Windows Phone made by Nokia, any of the Lumia devices, really, you will be able to use the Creative Studio which is now available as a free download if you have an Espoo-designed phone. It’s basically a simple photo editing application which could help you get more out of a boring (or dull) image.
The best feature is probably the live preview where you can see real-time results, in the camera application, of the effects you apply. That aside, there’s also a panorama mode if you’re interested and not willing to wait until the Lumia 800 gets this as [...]
Despite the fact that the WiFi Hotspot capability of Windows Phone has been introduced with the “Mango” refresh, the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710 don’t currently support this feature. However, the entry level Nokia 610, introduced at MWC where we inspected the hardware, is advertised to support this functionality.
If you follow the source link below to the official Lumia 610 page on the Nokia site you’ll see that it says: “use as a WiFi Hotspot for up to 5 WiFi-enabled devices”. It may seem strange that the 800 and 710 don’t support [...]
It’s that time of the year again, when we’re both happy and sad, excited and disappointed all at the same time. Last year’s Mobile World Congress was all about three things: Android, 3D and speed offered by emerging dual-core processors. This year’s show was not that much different at all, if you come to think of it.
It’s safe to assume that everyone who was there — or following our MWC coverage — understands that, again, Android was all over the place. With or without Ice Cream Sandwich on smartphones or tablets, the Google platform [...]
Alongside its flagship Lumia 900, Nokia also announced the budget Lumia 610 Windows Phone at this year’s MWC. After taking a look at the phone itself we reported that the company itself thinks the price point should be lower in order to make the device competitive with Android phones.
Thanks to the FCC you can have an early look at the Lumia 610 manual, which is available to download from the source link below. One interesting bit is that you will be able to turn your phone face down in order to silence an incoming call, pretty much like in the good old days with Windows [...]
Of course, the Lumia 610 announced together with the Lumia 900, is a cheap Windows Phone made by the Espoo-based company. However, Nokia still needs to work on the pricing for its Windows Phones in order to compete with Android.
$250 is a great price for the Lumia 610 but there are many Android phones out there that are even cheaper. Plus, Google’s platform is already a leading and most popular one so why should someone pick up a Lumia 610?
“We are competing with Android”, Niklas Savander, executive vice-president at Nokia said. “We have a lot [...]
The Nokia Lumia 610, alongside the Lumia 900, are the two new Windows Phones Nokia launched at this year’s MWC and we’ve taken a separate look at both of them with the occasion of our hands-on videos.
This time we are comparing the two against each other and then we throw in the HTC Titan and the last year’s LG Optimus 7 so that you can have a better look at what to expect if you are preparing to grab a Lumia 610 Check out the comparison video below.
Nokia Lumia 610 is the newcomer, joining the Lumia family of Nokia Windows Phones alongside the Lumia 800, Lumia 710, AT&T Lumia 900 and more recently, the Lumia 900.
Cyan, magenta, white and black versions are available and they all pack a 3.7-inch WVGA screen, 256MB RAM, and 8GB of storage space. It will probably be the cheapest among all but it surely looks unique and it has a lot of potential. Whether it will help Nokia start selling volumes, only time will tell. Until then, check the hands-on out below!
The budget-friendly Lumia 610 has been rumored for quite some time, and finally, Nokia has made the new Windows Phone 7.5 device official. It has a 3.7″ WVGA screen, 256MB RAM, and 8GB of storage space. The battery is a bit small at 1,300 mAh, though with a smaller screen, it should provide enough juice (in this case, 6.5 hours of talk time). Look for the Lumia 610 in Q2 for around $250 in blue, white, pink, and black.
Nokia also announced the availability of their flagship Lumia 900 as a world phone with DC-HSPA+ for twice the speed of HSPA+. Beyond data, the specs are [...]
We recently learned just which smartphone models Nokia may be preparing to show off at this year’s Mobile World Congress, including the Lumia 900 and Lumia 610. There’s another Lumia model that we’ve talked about in the past but haven’t heard much about lately, one that’s starting to make some noise again. Could Nokia be planning on using the MWC to demonstrate this supposed Lumia 719, as well?
We last mentioned the Lumia 719 just before our coverage of the CES began, when we were still trying to work-out what Nokia would have to display at that [...]
Watch today’s Windows Phone View as we wrap-up all this week’s Good and Bad inside the world of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. In today’s show we talk about the Nokia Lumia 800 being launched in Europe and certain enhancements to the Nokia Music app. We later go through our hands-on videos of the Nokia Lumia 800 and our full review of the Samsung Focus S. We then go through the recent milestone reached by the Windows Phone Marketplace of 40,000 apps, and where things are going with the Nokia-Microsoft partnership. We go through some recent rumors we [...]
Watch this week’s Windows Phone View as we wrap up all that was good and bad inside the world of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. In today’s show we begin by talking about all the Nokia devices that have been leaked during the week, and which ones we consider fake. We later talk about the LG Miracle, which sadly doesn’t seem to be such a miraculous solution for LG. We then go through our week’s coverage and end the Good section talking about Windows Phone Tango, even though it fit best in the Bad section.
In the Bad section we talk about [...]
We’ve gotten wind of the names, but not the details, of the handsets Nokia reportedly plans on revealing later this month at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress. The six devices are supposedly split evenly among smartphones — two Windows Phones and a Symbian — and three S60 S40 featurephones. Specifically, we’re now expecting the global version of the Lumia 900, an entry-level handset dubbed the Lumia 610, and the Nokia 808 PureView, which has been rumored as a full touchscreen successor to the camera-centric N8. Also tipped were the Asha 302, Asha 203, and [...]
We started-off the week by bringing you news of Nokia’s expected lineup of new devices for the Mobile World Congress. Among the handsets we learned were in Nokia’s plans were two Windows Phone models. The Lumia 900 is one we’re familiar with thanks to CES, and the only difference we expect to see at the MWC is a new global cellular radio. The other model is quite a bit more mysterious; we know it as the Lumia 610. While we still have plenty of questions about this handset, we’re now starting to see signs confirming the handset’s existence, as well as [...]
As has been rumored, Nokia is indeed bringing a pair of Windows Phones to Mobile World Congress, a global version of the Lumia 900 and a new entry-level handset, the Lumia 610. Specs on the 900 are well-known, but details on the the 610 remain elusive; we’re pretty sure that it sports a five-megapixel camera, which casts some doubt on the purported specifications making the rounds which give it just a three-megapixel shooter. Apparently the 610 will come in four different shades, while the 900 will be available in white, black, and cyan.
Nokia is also expected to announce [...]
