What exactly qualifies as a "remix?" How deluded do you have to be to believe in all these "Prime" rumors? Why are we so transfixed by the notion of lasers on smartphones, and so easily taken in by a smartphone commercial, if it's shot like a trailer for Inception? We tackle these questions, and the biggest announcement section in the history of the podcast, in episode 096 of the Pocketnow Weekly. No, that's not bragging – it's just an unavoidable symptom of a month packed with unboxings, hands-ons, product launches, and reviews (both forthcoming and already-published). But even in the ...

We at Pocketnow have a lot to be thankful for this week. We're busier than ever, our YouTube channel just passed 500,000 subscribers and we're deep in the planning stages for the new year's big tech expos. But most importantly, we're all still in the business of reporting on mobile gadgets, and that's something we all feel pretty lucky about. On today's late-Friday edition of the Weekly, we'll fill you in on some of the fun stuff coming down the pipe: from our forthcoming LG G Flex review, to wooden Moto X devices hitting shelves, to the future union of Windows RT and Windows Phone. We'll ...

Update: According to one of Nokia's localized Facebook pages, the Lumia 525 should "be available on 14 December at the suggested retail price of SGD249 at Nokia Stores and Nokia Solution Partners". That translates from Singapore Dollars to roughly $199. The first time we heard about the Nokia Lumia 525 was at the end of October when a certain contest announcement revealed its existence. Since then, we've seen the device leaked in press renders showing off future possible color options, and today, the Nokia Lumia 525 becomes official. We're expecting the press release to be published soon ...

Nokia's Lumia 525 didn't make an appearance at Nokia World, but from all the recent appearances it's been making, it's sure been looking like the smartphone is just about ready to go official. Yesterday we checked out some shots of the phone as it got its TENAA certification, and today we have a couple press renders to look at, giving us our best view of the handset to date. Up top we see the 525 in orange, white, and yellow – a nice fall array of colors, and precisely those we previously heard would be available for the phone. And below, you'll see another render from a different ...

Ever since the Nokia World event last month, we've been wondering what would become of those model we had heard rumored so much, and were expecting to see Nokia launch, but ended up being no-shows at the announcement itself. Those included both the Lumia 929 and Lumia 525 “Glee,” and lucky for us we get to check out some new signs of each this morning. The 929 shows up in some nice, clean pics, revealing the hardware from all angles. All the Verizon branding we've seen before is present, and we get some hands-on measurement of device dimensions, revealing a 10.5mm thick body. Look for ...

Whatever happened to the Lumia 525? In the lead-up to the Nokia World event earlier this month, we heard enough rumors about this handset – one we had been calling by its codename, Glee – but when the time came for Nokia to actually introduce its new hardware, there was no 525 to be seen. What gives? Were the rumors totally wrong about this model, or was it just not ready to go public yet? It's looking like Nokia still has some plans for the 525, as we see the model pop up in a new promotion. Live Nation Ontario is running a contest that not only offers tickets to one of its shows, but ...

Apple's not the only one with big news coming soon, and in just a matter of hours, Nokia's throwing a Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi. There's a lot to cover here, so let's dive right in to the device that feels like it's the nexus of this announcement, the Lumia 1520. Well, it wasn't always the 1520 - not to us anyway. We've been talking about the general idea of a phablet-sized Lumia for a while, and back in August, that started taking shape as a phone codenamed Bandit. Before the month was out, we heard that Bandit might launch as the 1520, and our first look at fully-assembled hardware ...

We just brought you the latest development concerning Nokia's six-inch 1520 phablet, showing the FCC its stuff, but that's far from the only Nokia model we've been tracking. A whole mess of new products are expected for next month's event, and while we can't say if these two will be joining them, this afternoon we get some new info on both the Lumia 929 (above) and the previously unnumbered model known only by the codename Glee. Supposedly, Glee will arrive as the Lumia 525, which certainly fits with the lower-end part of the description we've heard for that model; no word yet how the ...

How about some Nokia rumors while we wait for the EOS/Elvis/Zoom/Lumia 1020/Lumia 909? According to this recent report, for which you'll need a lot of salt, in addition to the "R" folder and skeptical hat, Nokia is not only preparing tablets, but it also might have a truckload of phablets planned. The information comes from an "anonymous" source and its veracity can't be, for the moment, verified. Treat it accordingly! Nokia recently trademarked a certain "ZOOM" moniker and apparently, this will be a family of products. As far as tablets are concerned, Nokia is preparing, according to this ...
