Nokia's first Windows tablet, the Lumia 2520, launched last fall, and we quickly saw carriers in the States lining up to offer the 2520 to their subscribers – well, at least AT&T and Verizon were interested. A whole lot of time has passed since then, and we've seen plenty of other Windows tablets emerge, but the 2520's still managed to hold on to a bit of the spotlight, and early last month @evleaks posted a T-Mobile document that sure seemed to reveal that the carrier was planning to belatedly welcome the 2520 to its collection of tablets. This week we get to check out additional ...

A product recall is generally no fun for any of the parties involved. The manufacturer has to deal with a huge expense, retailers get frustrated by not having products on their shelves, and end users are left inconvenienced. Last month we told you about a headache Nokia was facing over the chargers used on certain international editions of the Lumia 2520 tablet, after learning that they posed a small but tangible risk of electrocuting the user during operation. From what we heard at the time, it sounded like Nokia was handling things well, halting sales of the tablet and advising owners to ...

Last fall, Nokia released its first Windows 8 tablet, the Lumia 2520. After using Nokia phones for years, we were right curious to see what sort of tablet effort the company could put together, and we came away very pleased with what we saw. And if the 2520 wasn't impressive enough on its own, 2014 brought with it the release of the Power Keyboard accessory that very much dialed things up to 11. All of a sudden now, though, the 2520 has hit a snag, with Nokia sounding the alarm over a defect in the tablet's power adapter. If you're in the US, you probably don't have to sweat it; this issue ...

Inbox Zero. It's become something of a myth in the Pocketnow Weekly recording studio ever since we started actively courting listener feedback all those months ago. Skip a listener-mail section here, another one there, and before you know it you've got a mountain of mail it'd take a whole episode to get through. So that's just what we're doing. Just like we did on episode 076, we're devoting an entire podcast to your missives. We'll hear from people concerned about dual-SIM stigma, people worried about the future of Apple, and people writing to remind us that the automated home isn't as ...

The Lumia 2520 graced our lives months ago, brightening our unboxing desk and leaving a lasting first impression. Sadly, it didn't stick around long enough for us to give it the full review treatment, disappearing in a shipping accident so mysterious we sometimes still bring it up on the Pocketnow Weekly podcast. Fortunately, Nokia has sent us a replacement unit, and this time around it's included a bonus: the recently-released Nokia Power Keyboard. The long-awaited accessory brings two USB ports, a 2,027 mAh battery, and one of the most comfortable keyboards ever to Nokia's Windows RT ...

The All New HTC One won't grace us with its presence until the end of the month, and at this point we're beginning to wonder if HTC will have anything left to reveal at the announcement. Before that, of course, we've got the usual news of the week, including a duo of Samsung tablet reviews, rampant speculation about a brick-and-mortar Google ...

It's only been about four-and-a-half months now since Nokia officially introduced its Lumia 2520 tablet, and it's already started fading from the spotlight. While eagerly awaited, once it got here our attention quickly shifted to devices like the Lumia Icon, not to mention rumors of additional tablets, like a possible eight-incher. In fact, we haven't had cause to discuss the 2520 for months now, following its appearance in the Pocketnow Readers' Choice awards. But now it's back on our minds, as we learn that some promised versions of the 2520 may never see the light of day. Back when it ...

Six weeks ago, we came to you with a simple request: tell us what you think were the best smartphones and best tablets of 2013. In the time that's followed we've seen you vote... and vote, and vote, and vote. This past Friday, we finally closed the polls and got to the business of declaring some winners. With no further ado, let's start checking out what you chose, beginning with smartphones: With twenty-three choices, voters had a lot of options to consider. Everybody got some votes (though we have to tip a special last-place hat to the BlackBerry Q10, which managed to get an embarrassing ...

"Avalanches above, business continues below." That's a lyric from a very weird song, but it also encapsulates the goings-on in the Pocketnow offices this week - with technology news bubbling up from the outside world even as review devices tumble down from above. We'll talk about those devices as well as the rest of the happenings in the mobile technology world, and we'll take questions from your listener mail in the ninety minutes of this week's podcast. (We'll also take every opportunity to distract you from Michael Fisher's awful audio quality with promises of G Flex coverage, coming ...

Nokia's first Windows 8 tablet is now here, with the Lumia 2520 finally available for sale. The 10.1-inch slate will run you about $400 with a carrier subsidy, or $500 free-and-clear. We've already given you a hands-on look at the model, and our full review is forthcoming. One thing that's not available just yet, however, is the tablet's official Power Keyboard, a combination wrap-around cover/stand/extended battery/keyboard/USB expansion hub. When it finally does go up for sale you'll be able to snag one for an extra $150, but Nokia's got a much better deal in store for early 2520 ...

It is November 21 and a Monday rumor suggested that the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet -- which is already under the microscope in our labs for the review treatment -- would be available today on Verizon. If you head over to the source link below you can grab yours, in black, for $399.99, on a two-year contract. Of course you can also opt for the $499.99 month-to-month option, as well as choose the red version of the slate. The same rumor implied that the Nokia Lumia 929 would become available today too; we can't seem to find it just yet, in case the rumor predicted the future accurately, but ...

It was just a few short months ago that the idea of a "Nokia tablet" was fodder for only the most speculation-heavy episodes of the Pocketnow Weekly podcast. Well, time sure moves quickly, doesn’t it? The Lumia 2520 is the latest in a long line of Nokia devices we’ve covered this season, but as the company's first-ever Windows tablet, it deserves a close look before it goes on sale at AT&T this Friday. Announced at Nokia World 2013 and further teased via availability leaks ever since, the device has finally made its way to Pocketnow's Boston offices for a thorough battery of ...

De-packaging gadgets is fun enough as it is, but the joy is multiplied tenfold when the subject of the unboxing is a device you never thought would see the light of day. For months, the notion of a "Nokia tablet" has been little more than fodder for speculative debate on slow-news editions of the Pocketnow Weekly podcast. But now it's here, willed into solid reality by the events of Nokia World 2013, its sleek rounded edges beckoning from within its staid retail packaging. And by gum, we're gonna review it. But before we do that, we've got to get it out of its box. So tune in as we slip ...
