We just got done talking about Amazon running out of first-gen Kindle Fires, and wondering what that means for the likelihood of a follow-up tablet launch in the near future. Well, if this afternoon's latest leak is accurate, it looks very much like a new Kindle Fire is right around the corner. The image above is supposed to be Amazon's next Kindle Fire; there's been no solid indication of what the company might name the tablet, but Kindle Fire 2 seems as likely as any. If the rumors play out that there might be two-such new tablets, a seven-inch and a ten-inch version, the naming might ...

Head on over to Amazon today looking to buy a Kindle Fire and you'll be presented with a number of opportunities to buy used tablets, but won't see any new ones for sale from Amazon itself. The company confirmed that it's sold out of Kindle Fire stock in a press release it issued this morning, making rumors about a Kindle Fire 2 on the horizon sound pretty darn assured. Last week, Amazon started distributing invitations to a press event scheduled for September 6. At the time, we speculated that it could concern the company's follow-up to the first Kindle Fire, though there wasn't much in ...

It seems like we've been talking about the follow-up to Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet all year long. Back in February, those rumors looked to the release of a Kindle Fire 2 as soon as this past May. Later, we saw those expectations slip a little, moving to late July, and later early August. Well, clearly there's no Kindle Fire 2 just yet, but the long wait might soon be over, upon Amazon sending out invites to an upcoming event. Early September is looking to be a super-busy time for smartphone and tablet fans. We're expecting to learn about Nokia's WP8 gear and Motorola's Droid RAZR ...

The Kindle Fire refresh, dubbed generically Kindle Fire 2, has been in the news in the form of rumors for quite some time now. Some reports are talking about not one, but two Amazon-made tablets to hit the market soon: a smaller seven-inch-ish slate and a bigger, ten-incher. The good folks at T3N have created some renders based on rumored specs and information. The seven inch tablet will most probably target the fresh Asus Google Nexus 7 as its competitor while the ten-inche will get the Apple iPad in its targeting range. The seven inch slate will reportedly bounce the resolution up to ...

Last time we talked to you about the Kindle Fire 2, we had heard that the tablet might launch on July 31. While that still might be when it's announced, a more recent rumor suggests that the KF2 will get here a little farther out, shipping on August 7. This date comes from Amazon's manufacturing partners in Southeast Asia, and supposedly only concerns the seven-inch Kindle Fire 2. While it looks like larger 8.9 and 10-inch models are still possibilities, they wouldn't become available until some later date. With the Nexus 7 shipping this month, and the iPad Mini seeming more and more ...

The Kindle Fire follow-up is highly anticipated and this has probably everything to do with the cornucopia of rumors around this tablet. Last we heard of the Kindle Fire 2, a report was convinced that Amazon will skip the 8.9-inch form-factor and go for a 10.1-inch built instead. We also heard reports of the tablet being launched in the third quarter. Falling nicely into place is another report, this time coming from Cnet's "source", according to which July 31 is the date to circle in your calendar if you are interested in the Amazon Kindle Fire 2 launch date. Other specs reported include ...
