HTC is attacking the doldrums of August with more deals. It has ended its $100 off promotion on the HTC 10 and is instead bundling a $199 pair of earbuds. The JBL Reflect Aware C earbuds, to be specific. They run through a USB-C connection and have active noise cancellation. These earphones were launched with the HTC 10 back in April and have only started selling last week. The $199 value is yours free with the purchase of a $699 HTC 10 at the company's site. "The world's first USB-C sport earphones with noise cancellation and adaptive noise control," the ones that got launched about four months ago with the HTC 10, are finally for sale. JBL's Reflect Aware C earbuds are being sold only at HTC for the moment. The Harman-owned audio hardware maker does sell its regular Reflect Aware earphones with Lightning jack. Both are touted as sweat-proof and with 14.8mm dynamic drivers. And yes, both cost $199.95. It's a pretty powerful package for a pretty penny. Source: HTC, JBL Via: The Verge

The hunt is already on for the best Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid Edition deals available nationwide, as the two new Verizon-exclusive “SnapPhones” need all the help they can get to compete against the world’s first modular handheld and the ultimate jack of all trades. Enter Best Buy, which joins Big Red’s highly anticipated launch pre-order party with something much sweeter than 40 percent off “every other Mod.” There are several perks to be had at the third-party retailer, starting with a free JBL SoundBoost speaker attachment no matter your method of purchasing either ...

The world’s second modular smartphone, or a pretty conventional device to start with (that can merely hook up to a range of promising, albeit expensive modular accessories)? That, our friends, is the million-dollar question… the following Moto Mods review video doesn’t aim to definitively answer. Time will tell exactly what the Moto Z is, and, if it can pave the way for a bold new direction in an industry badly needing true innovation. For now, we simply intend to expand on previous first impressions of three intriguing Moto Mods, having spent a little quality time with them, and ...

Hello Moto. Today we're taking our first look at the first, proper, joint flagship phone venture between Lenovo and Motorola. These two companies are both known for creating "flexible" gadgets. Motorola's MotoMaker is easily the most complete platform available for allowing consumers to personalize and customize their phones. Lenovo has a solid reputation for building modular business accessories and multi-mode PC's. He have high expectations for what these two manufacturers should be able to accomplish when working together. We recently received a very well stocked reviewers kit with both ...

Big changes are coming to the way we listen to music on our smartphones, and the analog headphones we've been using for years are feeling the pressure from new, digital alternatives. Most of the conversation we're hearing these days is centered around Apple and rumors that it will ditch the analog headphone jack in favor of a Lightning-only solution for the iPhone 7, but headphone-makers have also been turning their attention to other platforms as well, especially as the versatile, convenient USB type-C connector comes to more and more handsets. Today we're learning about one of the newest ...

A good audio experience is one of the biggest deciding factors for me when I’m looking into buying a new smartphone. “Does it have front-facing speakers?” “How loud do the speakers get?” “What about earpiece sound quality?” Especially given how much music I listen to and how many YouTube videos I watch with my friends and coworkers on a daily basis, having loud, clear sound no matter where I go is important to me. Ever since the One M7, HTC has become sort of a household name when it comes to smartphone audio. Its BoomSound speakers are louder than just about anything else ...

Another holiday season's come and (almost) gone, and if you're among the lucky ones, the receding tides of commercialism have left you with a bounty of gadgetry under your Christmas tree, Hanukkah bush, or other homespun symbol of holiday joy. The holiday season is a crucial one for all platforms, but this year we've had our eye trained especially closely on Windows Phone. At this time in 2011, the Microsoft device stable didn't offer much in the way of eye-catching goodies, with the then-unannounced Lumia 900 still months away from release. Would-be buyers of Windows Phone devices were ...

It's been nearly six months since we last hosted a Windows Phone device in the Boston offices of Pocketnow, but in the past six hours we've welcomed in two of the newest and hottest. The Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 810 each enjoyed an unboxing in our studio this afternoon. Neither is a light or a small device, but the product we tour in this video is bigger and heavier than both of them combined. Times ten. It must've been all the excitement around the Windows Phone 8 launch, coupled with the irresistible promise of wireless charging mated with loud, bass-y audio. When I reported to ...
