Apple is reportedly going to launch two different iPhone models this year, and even though we've called both devices the iPhone 6, we do know that there are significant differences between both of them. Earlier this year the rumors were that these devices would launch separately, but two credible reports recently have pointed to a launch date of both devices on September 19th. At this point it's hard to confirm that, and with some new reports today of a later date, things have begun to get complicated. A new source is claiming that both iPhone models will have a different name, just like ...

Rumors continue to point to Apple launching its next-generation iPhone 6 during September. For the company to be able to meet demand, manufacturing has to begin months ahead of the launch, which was also a big rumor that happened a couple of weeks ago. At this stage you can expect some finalized iPhone parts to emerge, and today we've come across the most important one. Leaked photos show us a full comparison between the black and the white screen glass of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. These comparison photos also show us what the display looks like when compared to the display of the current ...

Ever since the launch of the first-generation iPhone, Apple's obsession over making a phone that's thinner and lighter than its competition has always been clear. Ergonomics are a big deal for the Cupertino kids, and every subsequent launch of the iPhone has seen additional loss in weight and millimeters. Rumors have the iPhone 6 going through the same process, but manufacturing issues have already begun to surface. Reports have it that for the iPhone 6 to be just 6 mm thin, Apple has recurred to using just one Brightness Enhancement Film (BEC) in its backlight. The iPhone has historically ...

Even though the web is full of photos of iPhone 6 mock-ups, we all know these are based on the leaked schematics we saw months ago, and not really something that came out of a Foxconn assembly plant. Prototypes evolve, as we learned with devices like the iPhone 5, and clearly Apple has months until the final release of the iPhone 6 in order to polish the final design. If you're wondering what additional polish is missing, rumors already point to what to expect. Leaks from trusted sources in Japan point to major changes, starting with the plastic borders we currently see. The report claims ...

Now that the Google I/O dust has settled down (just a little bit), we can turn our heads and attention to the main competition: Apple. We're hearing reports talking about the iPhone 6 launch date, and Friday, September 19, 2014, is the date rumored. Apple is expected to unveil a 4.7 and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6, and apparently there will be no 16GB version; this year, Apple is rumored to only offer 32 and 64GB versions. However, the same way we heard that only the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will get OIS features for its camera -- the larger phone being positioned, according to reports, as the premium ...

As Google I/O is about to kick off, we're seeing some reports concerning iPhone 6 features that will reportedly be included on Apple's 2014 flagship. There were a lot of reports in the past, with leaks, and images of mock-ups, and the trend seems to be continuing. According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 6 will have optical image stabilization (OIS). However, only the 5.5-inch model is believed to sport OIS VCM (voice coil motor), while the 4.7-inch variant, due to yield rates, is expected to feature a "middle-mount open-loop voice coil motor", an improved version of the the one ...

We're getting closer and closer to the iPhone 6 release date, as there are preparations on both the software and the hardware side. Apple has recently released a second beta of iOS 8, while we recently caught a glimpse of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 in a leaked photo. Next month, July, is when mass production of the largest iPhones ever will start, according to a recent report quoting "people familiar with the plans". While there is no exact iPhone 6 release date yet, the sources claim that the smaller of the two, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 might ship to retailers around September. As far as the ...

Reports keep pouring in of Apple preparing for an iPhone launch in September. It's happened in the last two years, and Apple's recent preparations to begin manufacturing have also revealed much progress. Obviously Apple just designs and then its partners manufacture, and Foxconn in particular has just taken a gigantic step to get ready. Foxconn is reportedly hiring as many as 100,000 employees in mainland China to begin production of the iPhone 6. Pegatron is also reported to increase its work-force by 30% in order to satisfy the demands that Apple has for the production of its future ...

Apple did innovate many years ago when it launched new sensors like an accelerometer and a proximity sensor on the first-generation iPhone. Most of you might not remember how much of a pain it was to go into landscape mode on smartphones before that, but that said, Apple has become quite slow in adopting new sensors on future iPhones. We've seen how Samsung has expanded the list of sensors significantly in its Galaxy line-up, and it seems that now Apple wants a piece of the pie. Some code that's hidden within Apple's iOS 8 SDK reveals that there is compatibility for a barometer in future ...

There are simply too many leaks of iPhone 6 dummy units lately, up to the point that we've chosen to not cover some of them, since hey, they're not the real deal. Still, if you all remember two years ago, famous Taiwanese actor Jimmy Lin became even more famous when he leaked a real model of the iPhone 5 a couple of weeks before its release. If you thought Lin was done with that, you're wrong, as we saw some recent leaks of the real-deal 4.7-inch model in his hands a couple of days ago, and today he strikes again. Lin just posted a photo on Weibo where he's repairing the shattered display ...

The fact that there was no hardware announced at WWDC 2014 makes Apple's fall launches quite compelling. We were expecting the company to launch the iWatch and some revamp to the iPhone at the event, and at the moment all we have are progress reports. The latest rumors from China are in today, and it gives us a clear picture of what to expect for both the iWatch and the iPhone. When it comes to the iWatch, rumors are slowly getting more detailed. This report mentioned a launch by Q3/2014, and that we should expect to see components and production from Largan, Foxconn, Pegatron, Quanta, ...

Apple's next flagship, what we've been referring to as the iPhone 6, has been hotly anticipated throughout multiple leaks. What somehow hasn't managed to leak up until now is that this phone may feature a QHD display, just as the LG G3 does. Taiwanese actor Jimmy Lin, known for his early leak of the iPhone 5c last year, has posted an image to Weibo showing off what's allegedly a live iPhone 6 model, compared to the iPhone 5s. Though we can't say for sure whether Lin's model is indeed authentic, it lines up with what we've seen on previous dummy units and the actor's track record is ...

The closer we get to Apple's yearly iPhone event, the more and more leaks seem to indicate that there will be two models with two different screen sizes. As we slowly start taking this for granted (until Apple proves everyone wrong, or not), we're even seeing reports and opinions on the pricing for the two upcoming models. Today though we're seeing an iPhone 6 leak, in a set of pictures purportedly depicting a real-life 5.5-inch iPhone 6 physical “dummy” mockup (next to the 4.7-inch version). The space grey version can be seen above, while the champagne gold can be seen below. ...
