The Slide to Unlock gesture implemented on the original iPhone was very popular at that time and there were initial Windows Mobile, and later on, Android applications and even official implementations that applied the concept to the other platforms too.
Now Apple has been granted a patent by the United States Patent And Trademark Office for the Slide to Unlock gesture. The patent abstract describes: “A device with a touch-sensitive display may be unlocked via gestures performed on the touch-sensitive display. The device is unlocked if contact with the display corresponds [...]
Ever since Apple introduced iCloud back in June you are able to see a list on your device of all your downloaded and/or purchased Music, TV Shows, Apps and Books in the Updates tab of your App Store or Purchased tab of your iTunes. This is all thanks to iTunes in the Cloud.
The principle is very easy: everything purchased get into the list for easy re-downloading. How about when your list becomes cluttered with all the apps you once downloaded, tried and no longer use? And when you don’t want other people having access to your device to see your purchase history? Or maybe [...]
The Dev-Team has updated the well-known redsn0w package to version 0.9.9b7 and it brings a major improvement: instead of waiting 210 seconds for the jailbreak to happen, the time needed has been reduced by 60 percent.
You will only have to wait 80 seconds or so in order to jailbreak your iPhone (iOS device) using Redsn0w 0.9.9b7. This is now possible due to the fact that the tool is “no longer “stashing” the applications by default during the redsn0w run”. However, on the downside, you’ll have to wait a little bit more when you launch Cydia so the [...]

Just as the speculations indicated last week that Apple would release an AirPort Utility for iOS devices, Cupertino has made the application available in the iTunes for everyone to download.
The AirPort Utility for iPhone enables you to manage your Wi-Fi network and AirPort base stations, including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule from your iPhone. Apple chose to release it as a stand-alone app rather than cook it in iOS 5 for easier maintenance and not to clutter the OS for those who don’t have the above hardware. If you’re in the target audience [...]
This could very well go hand in hand with the recent rumors of Apple working on a cloud offering for streaming videos or not… Apple has released an iTunes Movie Trailers application for iPhone after the recent roll-out of the iOS 5 platform.
The Trailers app gives you access to movie trailers, clips, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and images, available in HD or SD while you’re on the go using your iPhone. Apple’s recently launched iCloud might give you a backup solution and sync between devices for documents, pictures, mail, contacts and more but it appears that Cupertino is planning on bringing movie streaming to iCloud.
There were rumors circulating of Apple trying and preparing to compete with Netflix but according to a recent Los Angeles Times report, Apple people “have been meeting with studios to finalize deals that would allow consumers to buy movies through iTunes and access them on any Apple device”.
The service which would eventually allow [...]
Following the recent release of Apple’s latest mobile platform, iOS 5, applications are getting updated and this time it’s Foursquare that gets a version bump all the way up to 4.0.

If you haven’t installed iOS 5 yet, you will still enjoy new sharing features as well as an updated [...]
Looks like it’s becoming a habit nowadays to get a jailbreak solution for new iOS releases just a couple of hours after they have been pushed out (or even simultaneously). If you’ve updated to the recently released iOS 5 you can now jailbreak it.
It’s a tethered jailbreak solution at the moment which means that you will have to reapply every time you run out of power or power cycle your phone. Redsn0w has been updated to version 0.9.9b5 and can allow you to unlock your phone to apply all the hacks you want. Check out the source link for details of the update. [...]

iOS 5 is expected to land today as promised with the occasion of the iPhone 4S launch. We already had our share of iTunes 10.5 which should be ready to update phones and take advantage of the online offerings and now iCloud has gone live!

Just as a reminder, the service which allows you to sync images, documents, data and more between your iOS, your Mac and the cloud, with back-up and restore capabilities for your “i” devices, is free at launch if you go for the included [...]

Apple is going to release the next generation of its mobile platform, iOS 5, on October 12. It will bring all the new features to your iPhone (except for the Siri assistant bit) and bring it in line with the newly announced iPhone 4S.
According to recent reports, Apple will release iTunes 10.5 (and an update for its Mac OS X Lion operating system for that matter) prior to releasing iOS 5. Developers are already using betas of iTunes 10.5 together with iCloud but the new software update will bring iCloud integration to the masses.

When the European Union decided that microUSB should be the standard when it comes to phone charging, they set out a date up to which manufacturers have to comply: beginning of 2012. Apple adhered and has now made an adaptor available.
If you go to the Apple U.K. website you will be able to find the above adaptor/connector. It’s the standard Apple 30-pin connector that will take a microUSB plug on one end. This way, without modifying the design, Apple is following the requirements set forth by the E.U.; goes for £8.00 (around $12) should you ever need one.
