Apple's next iPad has found itself the subject of a growing number of leaks over the past couple weeks, revealing both a possible front panel for the iPad 5, showing off a shrunken-down bezel, as well as a potential case design, confirming a narrower build. Today we've got a new leak to gawk at, and while it's a bit hard to appreciate all by its lonesome, it's still something new, appearing to show the new iPad's rear panel. Without a sense of scale or an older component in the shot to compare against, it's a little more difficult to appreciate this image than, say, the look at the old and ...

We've had a lot of reasons so far to think that Apple might be planning to seriously revamp the design of its iconic tablet for the release of the iPad 5, chopping away at the previously big bezel to end up with a face that more closely resembles the iPad mini than any earlier full-size iPads. Indeed, last week we got to check out a leaked image purporting to show just such an iPad 5 bezel. Today we get a little more support for this change, upon some images showing off a new case shape to accommodate the new design. Early third-party case designs for Apple products can be a little ...

One of the consistent threads in the rumors we've been following regarding Apple's next iPad – beyond it just being more like a jumbo-sized iPad mini – was that we should look for a thinner, lighter design. That's easy enough to say, but what could Apple actually do in order to implement such changes? A new report focuses on the idea of Apple trying out some new backlighting in order to shave precious millimeters off the tablet's cross-section. According to analysts at NPD DisplaySearch, there are a couple things Apple could do with the iPad 5's display, and beyond just using a thinner ...

Stuff comes up, folks. Sometimes you've got a pressing appointment in Romania, or a meeting scheduled in Media, PA. Sometimes you're at the day job, other times you're off the grid somewhere in the country. Other times you're buying a car. These things happen. Fortunately for us, these things don't usually happen all at once, which means the Pocketnow Weekly podcast usually features more than two people on the air. But today, listeners, Lady Luck was not with us. Today, Sam the Scheduler was out sick, because every member of the Pocketnow team was otherwise engaged when it came time to ...

Most of the next full-sized iPad rumors seem to agree on the fact that the 9.7-incher will take a lot of design cues from Apple's iPad mini, as it should. If the two images we're seeing today (below and above) turn out to be the real deal than this will become a reality. We're allegedly seeing the front panel of a (possibly next) iPad and the side bezels appear to me narrower than what we've seen over the years on previous models. The iPad mini has a narrower bezel and a similar design for the iPad 5 (or whatever the name will be) will allow Apple to reduce the physical dimensions of the ...

Apple's releases of each major version of iOS have all concentrated on WWDC, which makes a lot of sense since this is the World Wide Developers Conference that happens every year in June. As is obvious, iOS 7 was planned to be released on those dates, but that's actually only two months away if you think of it. Sources very close to Apple have begun the rumor that Apple is running behind on the development of the OS. Apparently the company is even using resources from OS X in their future 10.9 update (which sometimes varies in its release between WWDC and the fall) in order to reach the ...

There's a whole bunch of new Apple hardware we're expecting to see arrive sometime this year. We've got a new iPhone – probably the iPhone 5S, but maybe the 6 – along with a new iPad and iPad mini, and maybe even some budget version of the iPhone. A number of timetables have been tossed around for when each of these products might be announced, and while the spring claims are sounding less likely, both this summer and later in October have been suggested as possibilities. Now rumors are attempting to narrow things down to a specific date. According to what Gizmorati calls an Apple ...

We're a bit skeptical when it comes to rumors, regardless of the make or model they try to anticipate, but with all the Galaxy S4 buzz it would have been at least weird not to have some Apple hear-say making the headlines. On that exact note, reports are claiming knowledge of Apple's plans for its next iPhone and iPad models. The iPhone 5 will be followed by the iPhone 5S, claim said rumors, which will basically maintain the new design introduced by the iPhone 5, but pack better internals. As with the 4 vs 4S, the 5S will allegedly have a faster processor as well as a better camera (or ...

Apple managed to make the iPad mini extremely thin and lightweight and this was possible also because the company has used a new touch screen technology, compared to previous iPad tablets, G/F2 (DITO) thin-film type touch screen structure. According to recent reports the Cupertino-based company might employ the same technology for its future full-sized iPad -- currently employing G/G touch screen type -- in order to make it thinner and lighter. Sources in the supply chain revealed that the suppliers for the next 9.7-inch iPad will mainly be the same as those for the iPad mini; Japanese ...

We've seen some possible iPhone 5S and 6 leaks yesterday as Apple was rolling out its iOS 6.1 and as far as rumors and speculation are concerned everybody seems to agree on the fact that the next full-sized iPad, the fifth generation, will get its design clues from the iPad mini (which borrowed main aspect features from the iPhone 5). If the above and below images are legit, and they definitely appear to be, then the iPad 5 will look exactly like the iPad mini, and we're not only referring to the black and slate color but also at the reduced thickness and overall footprint. The images ...

Here's a new twist on the dozens and dozens of Apple hardware rumors that have come our way: while the chatter lately has seemed to point to models like the iPad mini 2 arriving sooner rather than later, some new rumors about Apple's timetable for this next wave of devices has the company releasing them quite a bit farther out, with new iPad models not launching until the fall. According to what iLounge calls a "trusted source", instead of a new iPads this spring, Apple could instead be planning to deliver both the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 in October. The next-gen mini is supposedly being ...

Everyone seems to think that Apple is on a seriously accelerated product schedule when it comes to its tablets, and after last year's arrival of two separate iterations of the full-sized iPad, they might just have point. We've already heard about the idea of the next iPad showing up sometime in March, and that timeframe is once again getting some attention thanks to a recent analyst report, also suggesting that the second-generation iPad mini could arrive around the same time. Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets credits info uncovered from sources at the Consumer Electronics Show as ...

Alongside recent rumors of a possible Retina-display-enabled iPad mini we've also heard reports of a probably lighter full-sized iPad to arrive in the future. On that very same note comes another report that tries to outline such a new iPad, the fifth generation, believed to land in March 2013. March/April seems to be the timeframe for Apple's 9.7-inch iPad releases, except the 4th generation iPad which brought some spec bumps and a lightning connector to the previous, third generation model. The next iPad, claims the report, will be a thinner, lighter iPad. Some numbers are mentioned ...

One of the key disappointments for many when seeing Apple unveil the iPad mini was its relatively small resolution. While it is on par with the iPad 2 (and on an even smaller screen), competing products like the Nexus 7 offer somewhat higher resolutions (and on screens almost one inch smaller). According to the rumor mill Apple is planning on bringing the Retina display to the iPad mini (not that this would be a surprising move, also something we've continuously heard in the comments). Taiwan-based backlighting industry sources also claim that -- aside from a possible 2048 x 1536 ...

Apple really opened a can of worms when it announced the iPad 4 last month, only eight months after the company debuted the iPad 3. Clearly, users could no longer count on having a year's worth of novelty before Apple stepped in with something bigger, better, shinier, and capable of instantly turning your proud new toy into yesterday's news. Right on cue, rumors have already started looking to the idea of an accelerated iPhone release timetable, as well, with claims that Apple would start early trial production runs of an iPhone 5S sometime next month, with plans for a launch sometime in ...
