Update: Due to technical difficulties, Stephen Schenck will not be able to join the Hangout today. Topic Next up on the list of major players to hold an event is the iPhone-maker. Apple WWDC 2013 is happening on Monday, June 10, and there have been lots of rumors, some even conflicting, regarding the event. Will it be something completely new or just a flatter version of iOS 6 is yet unknown. Then there are rumors of Apple's upcoming, alleged, streaming radio ...

What's going to happen at WWDC 2013? Sure, iOS 7 is a given, but beyond that there's a whole lot less certainty. One case maker sounds pretty convinced that a new iPad will be on the menu, and has some new cases ready to ship next week. Hard Candy Cases has two protective shells for the "iPad 5" up ...

It's about that time for Apple to show us the ropes with their next batch of products. WWDC, or World Wide Developers Conference, happens on June 10th and has always been about software enhancements to current software and services. That said, we've seen Apple launch a couple of iPhones and even Macs at this event, so there's no reason why we shouldn't get excited about this event. The biggest question we have is what'll we get and what'll we miss from this event. We do know that iOS 7 will take the spotlight, as Tim Cook confirmed at D11, but could WWDC be all about software this time ...

This time we get to hit all the big players, with details showing up that concern the flagship iPhone 5S, the rumored cheaper iPhone, as well as the next iPad. Some if this is minor stuff, like a tweaked shape for the rear microphone near the iPhone 5S's camera. The 5S could also get a bigger dual-LED flash and be available in three or more colors. The idea of new colors continues for the budget iPhone, with white, pink, green, blue, yellow, orange, navy, gold, and gray all mentioned as options Apple will be testing. ...

With the major announcements behind us from Android- and Windows Phone-land, it's time for the rumor-mill to focus on Apple's upcoming devices, at least until the fall when we'll hear new rumors about Samsung, HTC, Nokia, and the others, as we get closer to IFA 2013. For now, the hear-say is mentioning the next Apple iPad. Your usual "sources with Taiwan's supply chain" have it on good authority that the next Apple iPad trial production will begin soon for the full-sized 9.7-inch slate. Volume production is claimed to start in July "with monthly shipments ramping up to 2-3 million units ...

As we recently talked in our previous episode of Pocketnow Live, the iPad rules the world because of one simple fact in its favor - Timing. When Apple decided to bring it to the market, Tablet PCs were expensive, bulky, slow and simply not better than your typical laptop. Those who debate that pen-input made them better most likely just assumes it, and has clearly never used one. Steve Jobs was right when he said that competitors were flummoxed by the iPad because they were simply not ready to compete. The question left on the table if the conditions remain the same for Apple's future iPad ...

With a new iPhone, a new iPad, and the debut of the iPad mini, Apple pretty much refreshed its whole mobile iOS product lineup last fall. While that normally might have us thinking that we'd have another full year to wait before getting word of new products, Apple had already exhibited signs of wanting to speed up device cycles, dropping two brand new iPads just a matter of months apart. This year, rumors have similarly looked to the idea of Apple announcing new iOS devices sooner rather than later, but so far nothing like that's come to pass. With summer just around the corner, we've ...

Apple's next iPad has found itself the subject of a growing number of leaks over the past couple weeks, revealing both a possible front panel for the iPad 5, showing off a shrunken-down bezel, as well as a potential case design, confirming a narrower build. Today we've got a new leak to gawk at, and while it's a bit hard to appreciate all by its lonesome, it's still something new, appearing to show the new iPad's rear panel. Without a sense of scale or an older component in the shot to compare against, it's a little more difficult to appreciate this image than, say, the look at the old and ...

We've had a lot of reasons so far to think that Apple might be planning to seriously revamp the design of its iconic tablet for the release of the iPad 5, chopping away at the previously big bezel to end up with a face that more closely resembles the iPad mini than any earlier full-size iPads. Indeed, last week we got to check out a leaked image purporting to show just such an iPad 5 bezel. Today we get a little more support for this change, upon some images showing off a new case shape to accommodate the new design. Early third-party case designs for Apple products can be a little ...

One of the consistent threads in the rumors we've been following regarding Apple's next iPad – beyond it just being more like a jumbo-sized iPad mini – was that we should look for a thinner, lighter design. That's easy enough to say, but what could Apple actually do in order to implement such changes? A new report focuses on the idea of Apple trying out some new backlighting in order to shave precious millimeters off the tablet's cross-section. According to analysts at NPD DisplaySearch, there are a couple things Apple could do with the iPad 5's display, and beyond just using a thinner ...

Stuff comes up, folks. Sometimes you've got a pressing appointment in Romania, or a meeting scheduled in Media, PA. Sometimes you're at the day job, other times you're off the grid somewhere in the country. Other times you're buying a car. These things happen. But today, listeners, Lady Luck was not with us. Today, Sam the Scheduler was out sick, because every member of the Pocketnow team was otherwise engaged when it came time to ...
