You'll be able to click this link to join the hangout! Topic Unfortunately we had to skip an episode last week due to some objective matters, but, nonetheless, we're back, and boy, do we have a lot to talk about. A lot of things have happened over the past couple of weeks, and, specifically, this week. The world is now richer with a couple of Apple iPads and Nokia Lumias, and we can't wait to hear your thoughts! However, the other big, and anticipated, bit of the week, the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat event did not happen. Disappointed? Have predictions? Let's talk about that too! Join ...

The new iPads are here, and though they're not exactly what we were expecting (whatever happened to that Touch ID business?), they still deliver in all the big ways: more powerful processors, better cameras, slimmer and lighter designs, and that all-important Retina display upgrade for the new iPad mini. Ultimately, there's a lot to be happy about, and we're sure that Apple's going to see a lot of demand for this pair. But still, in many ways today's announcement was a conservative one; nothing about the iPad Air or iPad mini 2 is either wildly unexpected or even that innovative. Really, ...

Nokia's latest announcements may still be fresh on our minds, but it's already time to shift focus and check out the other big news of the day: Apple's iPad event. We've been looking forward to these new tablets for months now, and it's finally time to make them official. In California this morning, Tim Cook took to the stage to get things started, taking a moment to reflect on the success of the new iPhone 5S and 5C, describing the launch as Apple's biggest to date. Cook also had plenty of good things to say about iOS 7, claiming that Apple's users "love the bold new redesign" and ...

By this time tomorrow, Apple's event will have wrapped, and we should known everything we need to about both the full-sized iPad 5, as well as this year's new iPad mini 2. For the moment, however, there are still many questions remaining to be answered, especially when it comes to what's going on with the iPad mini. As we get our ducks in a row for Apple's announcement, let's take a look back on what we've heard so far. As there's much less controversy surrounding it, let's start things off with the iPad 5. Early on, we heard that Apple might not wait until the fall to introduce the ...

It's amazing how, a little over three years ago, nobody cared about tablets. They had existed for almost 8 years, and still, they were either too pricey, or simply not powerful enough to justify their purchase. Fast-forward to today, and it's amazing that all it would take was to bloat a smartphone to make people want them. Still, there's no denying that the market exists, it's huge, and Apple still dominates it. Tomorrow we expect more iPads to be announced, and unless Apple hasn't caught up with the recent reviews of Google's Nexus 7, there's a lot of great competition to worry about. ...

Nokia's not the only company with big news this week; far from it. Tomorrow, we're also looking forward to Apple letting loose with its own latest hardware, and all indications point to it announcing a new iPad and a new iPad mini. We've been back and forth with the hardware expected for these tablets more than a few times, and while we still have questions about hot that iPad mini 2 might arrive, the iPad 5, at least, has been seeming more certain. Well, that's as far as the tablet itself goes, but today a new rumor suggests that part of Apple's news could focus on accessories, as well, ...

Pocketnow Daily gets an average of 300 to 500 comments a day, and sometimes even a thousand. We’d like to thank you all for participating in our question of the day, and we love your feedback so much, that we decided that since we can’t respond to ever single one of your comments, we should at least feature a couple in a weekly video. This is the Pocketnow Daily Recap. Since we only have 3 minutes on every Daily video to go through the hottest news, the weekly recap will serve as a more extensive discussion where we also include your thoughts on the subject. Sadly, for the sake of ...

There comes a time when you just gotta do what the readers want. Particularly when their demands are awesome. You tweeted, you pleaded, you emailed, you told us in person at trade shows and during mildly creepy public run-ins: "have Marques Brownlee on the Weekly!" you demanded. And after weeks of dancing around schedules, overseas trips, and major product releases, we've finally managed to make it happen. For the first time in recorded history, MKBHD and Pocketnow have collaborated to bring you two full hours of audio-podcast goodness. That sounds a lot more grandiose than three guys ...

Yesterday morning – right around this same time, in fact – we brought you a hands-on image of the new iPad mini 2, with the photographer being so kind as to bring along a caliper and give us some physical confirmation of the tablet's thickness. For the iPad mini 2, that was especially useful, as it gave us a little bit of insight into the rumors that the tablet might not get the Retina-quality display, as so widely believed. We don't have anything else to help us with that question today, but it looks like that same source has been up to some more tricks, and now provides a similar ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about Microsoft's bash on their own Surface RT, and their hope that the Surface 2 can do better. Amazon and HTC are next as both companies are already hard at work at bringing us their first smartphone collaboration. Nokia is next as apparently the company is working on bringing us their first music player, dubbed the Nokia Guru. We then talk about the Nexus 4, which is rumored to stay alive for another year along the Google Nexus 5. We end today's show talking about Apple's October 22nd event, and some of our predictions that involve a lot of iPad. ...

Apple's invites for next Tuesday's event are out, and unless we've been totally reading this all wrong, a shiny new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 are likely to make their debuts. We won't deny that it's great to get that confirmation out of the way (so we're not sitting around through another no-show, as developed with today's Nexus 5 rumors), but there are still more iPad dates to uncover: even if these guys launch on October 22, when would Apple actually make the pair available for sale. We've heard one theory making the rounds today, but not everyone's so sure it's worth believing. According ...

How are we doing on October launch rumors so far? HTC showed up a day earlier than expected with the One Max, we're already drifting into afternoon and there's no sign of a Nexus 5 launch today, and next week's Nokia World event – well, that's been solidly confirmed for a while now. The one other biggie that's been hanging over our heads has been Apple, with word that it could finally be ready to introduce its new iPad tablets next week. We've been talking about our expectations that if that rumor really was accurate, we'd be seeing invitations go out about a week in advance – which ...

If the rumors haven't led us astray, Apple could be just one week away from announcing its new iPad models. Despite some last-minute questions about the new iPad mini, it's seemed like we've pretty much known what to expect from this pair – at least, with one big unknown: would Apple give its new tablets the same Touch ID fingerprint sensor seen on the iPhone 5S? There's been plenty of circumstantial evidence, as well as reports from industry sources, and though we've had an idea of what to expect, have lacked confirmation. That may just arrive today, upon the publication of an image ...

We then go through Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1, and the design limitations that Microsoft is imposing on OEMs. We end today's show by talking about how Microsoft is now encouraging OEMs to offer options to dual-boot Android in their Windows Phone and Windows RT products. How many chances have we had so far to get a look at the hardware going into Apple's next-generation iPad? The leaks have literally been going back months, but really took off in earnest back in August. While that certainly means that we've already checked out the iPad 5 from any number of angles, a new image gallery has come to our attention today, revealing the hardware in probably the best quality shots we've yet had the pleasure to flip through. Front panels, rear shells: while this still isn't a fully assembled tablet, it's got the big pieces in place, and it doesn't take much ...

The Google Nexus 5 is next as we get a very interesting pricing scheme that is sure to make a lot of users happy. Apple clearly has a new iPad and iPad mini waiting in the wings. It's coming up on a year since the last iterations of those tablets were launched, and all summer we've been fielding leak after leak of this new hardware. All that's remained is for Apple to finally pull back the curtain and make this pair official. We've been expecting that to happen this fall – and maybe even this month, in particular – but a hard date has been difficult to come by. We heard October 15 mentioned, but lacked confidence in the news, and failed to find any confirmation for it. Now, another slightly later ...

As we were just noting when bringing you word of those new pics, seemingly showing off an iPad mini 2 in gold, there's been no shortage of leaks of new iPad hardware. That's covered the iPad 5 as well as the mini 2, and both have been popping up in one form or another for months now. We expect the new full-sized iPad to pick up some of the look of the iPad mini, shrinking down its side bezels in the process, but we haven't been exactly sure just how big the new iPad 5 would be. Back in June, a schematic attempted to clue us in to the tablet's thickness, but left its face a guessing game. ...

Space Grey iPad 5 pictured above and below, at least according to this latest leak, that claims these images are legit, and depict the upcoming fifth-generation iPad. Apple replaced the Slate color option on the iPhone 5 with the Space Grey flavor on the iPhone 5S, and it makes sense to have the same pigment across its entire 2013 line-up. We can also see something which has been rumored or leaked plenty of times up till now: we are expecting an iPad-mini-like design, with narrower bezels, lighter overall weight, and the new color options, among which the Space Grey can allegedly be seen ...

Apple seems to have a growing appreciation for synthetic sapphire as a material for use in portable electronics. Its affinity has expanded from just using the material for the iPhone 5's camera covering to playing the role of the new home button for the iPhone 5S, concealing the TouchID fingerprint scanner. We've already heard that Apple might not want to go so far as to use full-on sapphire displays, having already experimented with the idea but ultimately passing, but we could very well see the material expand its presence in Apple's lineup a little, as a new rumor suggests that sapphire ...
