Stuff comes up, folks. Sometimes you've got a pressing appointment in Romania, or a meeting scheduled in Media, PA. Sometimes you're at the day job, other times you're off the grid somewhere in the country. Other times you're buying a car. These things happen. Fortunately for us, these things don't usually happen all at once, which means the Pocketnow Weekly podcast usually features more than two people on the air. But today, listeners, Lady Luck was not with us. Today, Sam the Scheduler was out sick, because every member of the Pocketnow team was otherwise engaged when it came time to ...

With close to 2,000 stores in the US and Canada, Staples is one large office supply chain store which definitely needs no introduction if you live in one of the 26 countries worldwide in which it is present, including the USA. In Canada you are already able to purchase Apple products from Staples and it looks like the US is not far away with that either. Apple might be expanding its US distribution with the addition of Staples, even though neither company officially confirmed the report. However, Staples employees took the news to their Twitter accounts: Regis Mulot, SVP of Global Human ...

So you jailbroke your iPhone or iPad after the evasi0n jailbreak process was released last week, but you discovered that it just wasn't for you. You prefer the stock feel of iOS over the seemingly never-ending sea of mods and tweaks. There's nothing to be ashamed of, and there's no reason to fret, even if you didn't backup before jailbreaking … like you should have. The unjailbreaking method is relatively quick and very easy. All you need is iTunes, your Lightning or 30-pin cable and your iDevice. A couple clicks and no more than a half-hour later, and you will be back ...

We've all been there. You pull your phone out of your pocket and notice something is off. Slide past the lock screen and you notice that, for whatever reason, your phone is back to factory settings. (For the record, I have had this happen with every mobile OS I have used to date.) Or maybe you have lost a phone. Having to go through the motions to get your phone back to how it should be is never a fun process. It's time consuming, and sometimes important information is gone forever, irrecoverable. Fortunately, there is a solution – precautionary steps that prevent sensitive or important ...

To Jailbreak or not to Jailbreak, that's the question we've received everywhere for the last 24 hours since Evasi0n was released, and we do understand the concerns of many of you. The fact of the matter is that it's really a matter of personal preference, and while some may be extremely inclined to do it because of their daily needs of their iPhone or iPad, some users don't really use their iOS products in a way that would warrant it. Jailbreaking an iPhone is very different to rooting an Android device. On Android, rooting allows you to load custom ROMs that enable you to really push the ...

For those of you fans of the Jailbreak underworld, the time has come. Evasi0n was finally released today for all iOS 6 compatible devices, and it's as easy and stable as the most popular Jailbreaks we've seen in the past. Jailbreaking will allow you to side-load applications and services to iOS 6 that Apple has either not intended or not considered for your device. And as we historically know, many of these solutions have served to make iOS what it currently is since Apple has hired a couple of the developers behind some of the apps being offered. It's hard to answer the question: Why ...

It sure sounded like the evad3rs team was aiming to launch its evasi0n iOS 6.x jailbreak yesterday, on Super Bowl Sunday, but if you managed to sneak away from the game to check out the release's status, you'd have found that it still wasn't quite ready. Luckily, the extra wait has been minimal, and just a few moments ago the evasi0n jailbreak finally went live. There are installer programs available for Mac, Windows, and Linux computers, supporting Apple devices running iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, and the most recent, 6.1. Unlike previous tethered iOS 6 jailbreak solutions, evasi0n is not ...

Apple has confirmed recent reports regarding the departure of its vice president of Retail, Jerry McDougal. While we're still waiting for official numbers as far as activations are concerned for this Holiday season both from Google and Apple (and, why not, Microsoft too), analytics company Flurry has published its own figures which talk about a whopping 17.4 million devices, up 332% from the average December baseline. You can also compare this number with Christmas 2011 when 6.8 million devices were activated. The interesting bit here is that tablets seem to have overtaken smartphones on December 25th, 51% to 49%. Leading the pack are Apple and its iPad, iPad mini, joined by Amazon and ...

One of the key disappointments for many when seeing Apple unveil the iPad mini was its relatively small resolution. While it is on par with the iPad 2 (and on an even smaller screen), competing products like the Nexus 7 offer somewhat higher resolutions (and on screens almost one inch smaller). According to the rumor mill Apple is planning on bringing the Retina display to the iPad mini (not that this would be a surprising move, also something we've continuously heard in the comments). Taiwan-based backlighting industry sources also claim that -- aside from a possible 2048 x 1536 ...

When Apple released iOS 6 we knew that YouTube will go missing -- and it's been removed since Beta 4 -- alongside Google Maps, but Mountain View was quick to react and released a dedicated application which only supported the iPhone and not the iPad. Then then iPhone 5 came along and the app was displaying black bars at the top and bottom of the larger screen with larger resolution but all of these are sorted out now. The new version of YouTube not only adds support for the iPhone 5 -- getting rid of the black bars and displaying nice, full-screen videos -- but it now also supports Apple's ...
