Even though Jailbreaking has become less and less popular with the launch of iOS 7, up to the point where even Cydia spent some time not being optimized for it, you could still do so with Evasi0n if you were running iOS 7.0.4. Sadly, if you're interested in keeping your Jailbreak for longer, things are about to get more complicated. We heard recently that Apple's iOS 7.1 beta 4 effectively patched the kernel in a way that would partially cripple Evasi0n, though there was still a way to do it. Sadly that ended today as the launch iOS 7.1 beta 5 shows us that aside from some Siri ...

While we haven't necessarily experienced it ourselves, iPhones running iOS 7 have been reportedly crashing and rebooting, generating a black/white screen of death; according to reports, it is basically the splash screen which is either black on white, or vice versa, depending on the hardware color of the phone itself. Talking about this with Mashable, Trudy Muller, an Apple spokesperson, said: "We have a fix in an upcoming software update for a bug that can occasionally cause a home screen crash". The fix is expected to be part of iOS 7.1, which is currently in beta version -- with its ...

As we saw yesterday with the release of the latest beta, Apple's work towards the release of iOS 7.1 continues in earnest. One of the more significant developments to arrive with the launch of 7.1 is expected to be iOS in the Car, as first revealed by Apple when announcing iOS 7 at WWDC last year. Overnight, one iOS developer posted a series of new screenshots to Twitter, and while their content hasn't been officially confirmed, speculation is rife that what we're looking at here is indeed the forthcoming iOS in the Car interface. At least – it may be. There's the possibility that we're ...

When will Apple be releasing the next update to iOS? We've been tracking progress of the various iOS 7.1 betas for months now, seeing Apple release beta 2 in December, and beta 3 just two weeks ago. Rumors have suggested that a final release could still be quite a way's off, with distribution not hitting the public until sometime in March. It remains to be seen if we'll really be waiting that long, but for the moment, Apple appears that it might be speeding up the timetable between these betas, with word that a new one is just about to drop. At least, developers may soon have the chance to ...

It's been a little over a month now since we first saw Apple release a beta version of iOS 7.1, with developers getting access in mid-November. At the time, we were optimistic that a public release would follow shortly thereafter, but that's yet to happen. In fact, if the latest rumor about Apple's progress is any indication, we could still be months and months away from seeing mass distribution of any 7.1 update get underway, with claims that the software won't arrive until March. Since that first beta last month, Apple delivered a second beta to devs earlier in December. Supposedly, ...

Last week saw Apple deliver the very latest iOS 7 update, iOS 7.0.4. Lacking any major improvements, it was a largely forgettable release, focusing mainly on a few bugfixes. What about something a little more impactful? Enough with this 7.0.x series – today we see Apple pushing its platform ever forwards with the distribution if iOS 7.1 beta to its developer community. And truth be told: we may be moving on up in build number, but it's still a lot of bug fixes. It's more than just that, though, and you'll also see some tweaks to the Notification Center display, some small branding ...
