The world of mobile technology is one of the fiercest competitive markets ever. In the quest to stand out from the pack, some companies make bold moves and succeed brilliantly. Others are more meek and fade into the unexceptional background. Still others fill the space between, innovating once, then endlessly iterating over and over again. Then there are those that just screw it all up. Thanks to choices that are either too bold, too meek, or just plain-old absolutely insane, these are the products that fall flat on their face. They’re not to be mocked, but the lessons they teach should ...

The original LG Optimus Vu only came to the States this month, with Verizon introducing the LG Intuition for its 4G network. Even though US audiences are still acquainting themselves with the five-incher, LG's already looking to the future, and a leaked spec sheet gives us an early look at what hardware to expect for the Optimus Vu II. From what we can see here, the Vu II looks to be a relatively minor upgrade over the original Vu. It moves from a Qualcomm S3 to an S4, still at 1.5GHz, and doubles its RAM to 2GB. Screen size and resolution remain untouched, as does the inclusion of an ...

Samsung has been mostly uncontested in the phablet space that it invented with the Galaxy Note. We haven't seen a competing device from Motorola or HTC, though there are rumors of a 5" 1080p Android from HTC heading to Verizon. LG, though, is going up against the Note with the Optimus Vu, now available stateside as the LG Intuition on Verizon Wireless for $199.99. The Intuition has a smaller, but wider screen than the Note at 5.0" (versus 5.3" on the Note and 5.5" on the Note II) thanks to its 4:3 aspect ratio afforded by the 1024x768 resolution (making for a pixel density of 256). Inside, ...

The LG Optimus VU is coming to Verizon; nothing out of the ordinary here, we've been hearing that for quite some time. According to the latest rumors however the carrier is planning on renaming the phone which will soon land on its line-up wearing the LG Intuition name. The press render above appears to show off the Optimus VU/Intuition with Verizon branding, pretty much matching the live pictures we've already seen. We also know that press renders are usually containing hints towards a certain date which is believed to be related to the announcement (of nothing, in extreme cases). The ...

Ever since we saw the FCC filing and adjacent documents it became pretty clear that Verizon is planning on carrying LG's response to the initial Samsung Galaxy Note, the LG Optimus VU. We've seen it pictured earlier, before LG announced that the global version will receive a spec bump. It looks like Verizon will change the name of the LG Optimus VU to LG Intuition when it will announce the phone in the coming weeks. The price will be a rather attractive one:  $199 given you sign a new two-year contract or $549 without an agreement. If you remember our MWC hands-on with the phone, we told ...
