Sometimes, a smartphone update is simply a revelation, bringing with it new features and new ways of using your mobile device. Look at Mango, for instance, and the potential it has to reboot WP7. Of course, they can't all be so grand, but even the smallest update shows us that the smartphone's manufacturer is still watching out for you, keeping your phone's software as current as possible. With that mindset front-and-center, check out the latest OTA for HTC's Droid Incredible 2, increasing network stability in a couple unique cases. Specifically, Incredible 2 update 3.02.605.1 spruces up ...

Verizon published some support documents last week in anticipation of an upcoming software release for the HTC Droid Incredible 2, upgrading the smartphone to Gingerbread. Though the carrier had all the pieces in place, it had managed to avoid revealing just when the code would finally go live, and users would start receiving notifications that the update was ready for download and installation. Luckily for Incredible 2 owners, it's only been a short wait, as just a few days later, Verizon has begun distribution. System software 2.18.605.4 is a decent-sized 116MB download, including a host ...

When Verizon announced HTC's Droid Incredible 2 at the end of April, it confirmed that the smartphone would ship with Android 2.2 Froyo. Sure, that wasn't great news, but we expected a Gingerbread update to be waiting for the smartphone just around the corner. That must have been a heck of a big corner, as we're still waiting for the update to arrive, but at least now there are signs that it could very well be imminent, with Verizon hosting the update documentation on its site, in advance of the code's release. The update, when it finally arrives, will bring the Incredible 2 up to system ...

HTC's Droid Incredible 2 joins the ranks of fully modifiable Android devices today, receiving the trifecta of unlocks for HTC devices with S-OFF (security off), permanent root access, and CWM (ClockWorkMod) recovery. The hack is brought to us by the Netherlands-based team "AlphaRev" who have released similar hacks for other HTC devices in the past. These modifications enable the development of custom ROMs such as the popular CyanogenMod 7. S-ON (also known as @secuflag) is a security measure implemented by HTC that blocks the ability to write to the smartphone's flash memory, preventing ...

We all love source codes manufacturers publish because the community can take a look inside, report bugs for future version improvements, get inspiration and bits, extract stuff to make it available and all the good things a source can bring. HTC has released the sources for the Droid Incredible 2, Wildfire S and Desire HD. The Verizon Droid Incredible 2 is basically the HTC Incredible S -- which saw its own source made public already. The HTC Wildfire S is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 2.1 and the Desire HD already had its own source being published but this time it's the ...

The CDMA Verizon-destined version of the HTC Incredible S has just become official. The Droid Incredible 2 will be offered at the $199.99 price point starting on April 28. The device features a 4" Super LCD WVGA display powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU with 768MB of RAM. The rear camera takes 720p HD video and can take stills at 8MP. It'll ship with Android 2.2, but an upgrade to Android 2.3 shouldn't be too far off. It'll also ship with a front-facing camera, but don't expect to get good results video chatting because the Droid Incredible 2 isn't a 4G LTE device. Source: Verizon

Verizon's confirmed that Samsung's Droid Charge will be arriving this Thursday, April 28, and though we haven't gotten any official statement that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 will be joining it, all indications from leaked documents suggest that it, too, will be going up for sale. Just days away from their anticipated releases, both phones are making an appearance in Best Buy's Mobile Phone Buyer's Guide for May. We spotted a placeholder page Verizon's erected for the Incredible 2, and if that and the rumored release this week weren't enough, accessories for the new Droid have been arriving ...

Verizon has finally posted a landing page for the long-awaited Droid Incredible 2 from HTC, signifying that a launch and probable release are imminent. The page is not complete, however; right now the pricing stands at a whopping $99,999.99 on- or off-contract, and the flash imagery meant to illustrate the phone is not yet live (we added that picture ourselves to fill the white space). We've heard conflicting ship dates of April 21st and April 28th, although at least it seems like something will happen before the end of the month. The Incredible 2 is a CDMA version of the Incredible S, ...

Those preparing for the Verizon Incredible 2 as their first HTC-made Android smartphone can flip through the pages and learn the basics of the hardware and software along with HTC's Sense UI which will ship with version 2.1 (we hope to see Sense 3.0 though sometime ...

Pretty much like the previous Verizon roadmap leak that indicated an April 28 launch date for the Verizon Incredible 2, we get another confirmation from another leak pointing to the same date. As the date is coming closer and closer we've seen launch materials hitting stores as well as the full retail packaging for the upcoming smartphone. The Verizon Incredible 2 will be basically the carrier version of the HTC Incredible S, with 1GHz Snapdragon CPU supported by a plentiful 768MB of RAM, four-inch and WVGA 800x480 resolution display, eight-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, ...

All signs point to the HTC Droid Incredible 2 coming to Verizon in the very near future, despite not a peep confirming the phone coming out of Verizon. Pics of the phone bearing Verizon's logo have been available for weeks, and we've seen the phone in both Best Buy's computer system and in supposed leaked Verizon release schedules. It may nearly be time for big red to make its relationship with the Incredible 2 official, as a Verizon insider has snapped some new pics of Incredible 2 merchandising materials arriving now in stores, suggesting that the smartphone is nearly ready to launch. ...

The Verizon Droid Incredible 2, the Big Red version of the HTC Incredible S, is getting ready for its launch, which, according to the new Verizon leak and date, will hopefully happen on April 21. There's really no better way of getting ready for a launch than having your retail box pictured. With even this aspect being ticked out, the launch is really just one step away. As far as the packaging of the retail unit is concerned, well, that's your typical Droid-style box there, with no major changes. What's not typical are the Intelligent Buttons on this smartphone that change orientation ...

A little earlier today we were musing over the reliability of the Verizon roadmap we saw leak last week, noting how the Samsung Droid Charge should have been out yesterday, were it accurate. As if right on cue, a new document has leaked, showing revised dates for the Charge, as well as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and the HTC Incredible 2. The new Charge date makes sense, moving back a week from yesterday to April 14. As accessories often pop up just in advance of a smartphone's retail sales, the appearance of Charge gear today fits with this change-of-schedule. What's happened with the ...

The first pics of an HTC Incredible S sporting Verizon branding as the Droid Incredible 2 popped up over the weekend, and now there's some code to go along with the images we saw. A user on the Android Central forums has extracted the smartphone's files and just posted a system dump to the site. You'll find a standard assortment of Verizon apps, including Skype, as part of the default installation. Probably the most interesting bits are the media included in the dump, like the phone's bootup animation, wallpaper selection, and built-in ringtones. These files have all been extracted and are ...

The HTC Incredible S announced at this year's MWC got a 3 out of 5 in our review but that doesn't stop it from heading to Verizon as we previously saw in a leaked picture back in the middle of March. The Verizon version will be called Incredible 2 -- a real follow-up to the Droid Incredible -- and it's nothing more than your typical HTC Incredible S. Aside from the Verizon branding on the top, you still have the Intelligent buttons that rotate along with the phone, the 1GHz Snapdragon CPU supported by a plentiful 768MB of RAM, four-inch and WVGA 800x480 resolution display, eight-megapixel ...
