Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about Apple's September 10th event, where we expect to see the official launch of the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS 7. Then we go through Google's silent announcement of Android's next version name, which will be Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Then we go through the Sony Xperia Z1 leaked press information, aside from more details on the Cybershot X. We then talk about the Motorola DVX, which is the affordable companion of the Moto X. We end today's show ...

Sony's big IFA event takes place tomorrow, and with the teasers the company's been publishing, there's been little doubt that it would launch the phone we've been following as codename Honami. While there's still plenty to look forward to from tomorrow's event, including the details on those Smart Short lens camera accessories, the cat may already be out of the bag when it comes to Honami, as the official Sony press release announcing the phone seems to have leaked a day early. Assuming this is legitimate – and it certainly has the trappings of a Sony press release – Honami will see ...

One of these new and emerging categories is the smart watch, and we know the Samsung Galaxy Gear will be a device we'll be covering extensively. Sony may have yet to go official with Honami, expected to be launched as the Xperia Z1, but that hasn't gotten in the way of the numerous opportunities we've had to get a look at the smartphone. Between the official teaser images Sony itself has released, the shots of hardware components, and full-on imagery of the completed, functional handset, it sure can seem like we really have already seen it all. As we look forward to Sony's IFA event this Wednesday, where Honami will presumably be the star of the show, we've got one more glimpse at the phone to check out, with what sure appear to be ...

Pocketnow Daily gets an average of 3 to 500 comments a day, and sometimes even a thousand. We'd like to thank you all for participating in our question of the day, and we love your feedback so much, that we decided that since we can't respond to ever single one of your comments, we should at least feature a couple in a weekly video. This is the Pocketnow Daily Recap. Since we only have 3 minutes on every Daily video to go through the hottest news, the weekly recap will serve as a more extensive discussion where we also include your thoughts on the subject. Sadly, for the sake of time, we ...

The Samsung Galaxy Note III will be announced on September 4 in Berlin; that's a certainty! Also certain are some of its upcoming specifications, judging by previous models, their relationships with the S-line, and Samsung's general policy on devices. We've already seen the purported white face of the phablet but what nobody seems to know at the moment is when exactly will the Note III become available? According to the image above, a purported still snapped off of a Three UK internal document that seems to hint that Samsung's 2013 phablet will land, at least on the British carrier, on ...

The upcoming Sony Honami, which the company will almost certainly unveil at its September 4 pre-IFA Berlin special event, has been subject to numerous leaks and rumors in the recent past. We've seen pictures from Mr. Blurrycam and his friends but today's Sony Honami leaked pictures seem to be a clear and sharp representation of what the phone might end up to be. Whether we're looking at a dummy unit, a prototype, or the real deal, is unknown. However, the back of the phone, where the camera is, has labels attached, which are missing from the official Sony teasers. Sony might have ...

In one week, Sony's almost certainly going to launch the phone we've been following as codename Honami. Maybe it will arrive as the Xperia i1, or maybe as the Z1, but however it does, it's going to be the most significant Sony smartphone to launch in a while. After all, we're months removed from phones like the Xperia Z and ZL, and this summer's Z Ultra has yet to really resonate with shoppers. Honami should find a middle ground between the regular-sized Zs and the 6.4-inch giant Z Ultra, while keeping the Snapdragon 800 that gives the Ultra its performance. Add to that rumored features ...

Notification lights are one of those great little features that can go seriously underappreciated. If your phone never had one, you don't know what you're missing, and if it does have one, you probably take it for granted; it's only after getting used to those unobtrusive, gentle reminders of messages on your phone you need to attend to that their absence really starts becoming palpable. While so far there's been no sign of any such light on the upcoming Sony Honami, a newly leaked image sure seems to suggest that there is, indeed, a notification light hidden away. While we've seen that ...

Yesterday, we saw Sony post a little teaser to Twitter. Between its talk about an upcoming launch and what we could make out from the image, it seemed pretty darn clear we were talking about Honami, rumored to go official at the company's September 4 event. Today, Sony continues with more of the same, and we also get a chance to look at a new leaked image of the phone, showing off its color options. We all know how Sony loves waterproofing its smartphones, and if today's pic is any indication, Honami will be continuing with that tradition. The company is once again using language that ...

Sony's IFA 2013 press event is less than two weeks away; on September 4, we're going to get the official story on the company's latest devices, and unless the rumor mill has seriously misled us, that's likely to include both the unusual "lens camera" accessories that recently leaked, as well as the long-anticipated Honami. Whether the latter arrives as the Xperia i1 or the Z1 – or something else entirely – it aims to really push boundaries so far as what kind of camera performance we can expect from Xperia handsets. As we wait for the phone to go official, Sony's posted a little teaser ...

Sony has been all about Z-series Android this year: starting with the Xperia Z and ZL, and most recently with the Z Ultra, Z's been the name of the game. Now the company's next big Android is nearly ready to launch, and rumors have suggested that it might break from tradition: that the device we've been following as codename Honami could arrive as the Xperia i1. A new theory now suggests that won't be the case at all, and Honami will continue the Z lineage as the Xperia Z1. That actually makes sense from a number of angles. Besides just going with brand consistency (like's been so big this ...

Sony's been putting out some pretty nice smartphone and tablet hardware this year, getting an early start with the Xperia Z/ZL, releasing the very attractive Xperia Tablet Z, and most recently, debuting the Xperia Z Ultra. What's coming next, though, could be the company's biggest Android model to arrive in all of 2013, the model codenamed Honami, which looks like it could launch as the Xperia i1. Honami's big hook should end up being its imaging capabilities, like we've been seeing elevated to the forefront of recent phone designs from a growing number of manufacturers. The latest rumor ...

Sony's Honami (aka the Xperia i1) is going to have a pretty nice camera – that much seems a given. After all, we've seen plenty of leaks seeming to confirm the presence of a 20.7 -megapixel shooter. While we've been expecting Honami to produce great still shots, a new rumor suggests that the phone could have some exceptional video capabilities, as well, possibly even recording 4K video for playback on the next generation of HD screens. Just a few weeks left until Sony will most probably unveil the device which we've seen leaked all over the internet lately, referred to as the Honami. Despite all the images that were posted and captured by Mr. Blurrycam, we haven't seen color options of the upcoming device. That is, until today; we're most probably looking at a white Sony Honami C690X. There are different angles to inspect and the phone is even pictured side-by-side with an iPhone, to get a sense of its dimensions. The 20.7MP camera seems to be a go and the battery is expected to be one of 3,000mAh. Let the pictures above ...

This year's IFA in Berlin is just a few weeks away, and like any other year, we're expecting to see a whole lot of smartphones unveiled All the big names will be holding press conferences of their own, and we've already begun to get invitations to some – earlier this month, for instance, we learned of Samsung's plans to have an event on September 4. Today we get confirmation of another OEM with similar plans, seeing Sony's invite to its own IFA event. One of the more unusual smartphone rumors to come our way this summer has been one about Sony and plans for an external add-on phone camera accessory. More than just a lens, the product was supposed to be some sort of all-in-one camera that affixed to the rear of an existing phone and wirelessly communicated with the handset. We were very much skeptical at the time, but today a new leak sure seems to confirm those claims, and gives us a nice, clear look at how this product could launch. Supposedly, there will be at least two of these camera accessories, Sony's models DSC-QX10 and ...
