HTC couldn’t let Nokia win it all with its free turn-by-turn offline navigation solution bundled with Lumia Windows Phones. Some HTC Locations users on Android had the opportunity to download maps but now there’s a new version available for Windows Phone users rocking Taiwanese phones.
Now the new version of HTC Locations allows you to download maps and use them for offline navigation. The new description reflects just that: “find your way with directions or voice guidance. You can download maps to your phone for offline use, or search and browse online maps [...]
We knew of AT&T’s upcoming Windows Phone Mango line-up since mid-September, featuring the Samsung Focus Flash, Focus S and HTC Titan. Thanks to the carrier we now also know that the two Samsung devices will arrive on November 6.
While new phones are added to the line-up, older devices are getting phased out reaching their end of life. As such, AT&T has put the Samsung Focus and the HTC HD7S on GoPhone Prepaid offers. It appears that the online-only offering was a huge success, coupled with the relatively low price of the Prepaid deal, as the Samsung Focus is [...]
Are you an HTC HD7S user on AT&T and have been suffering through the pains of Mango jealousy? An end to your plight is near, thanks to Microsoft announcing that Windows Phone 7.5 is now being distributed to those handsets.
A couple days earlier this week we heard that Mango for the HD7S was nearly ready to drop. That rumor supposedly came from an internal AT&T memo, but for whatever reason it seems that a few more days’ wait was in order. This is at least a preferable situation to separate rumors that suggested that the HD7S Mango update might not arrive until [...]
The Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update roll-out process is going very well according to Microsoft with a relatively quick spreading period over carriers and manufacturers.
According to recent reports users of the HTC HD7S on AT&T will be getting their Mango treat starting today. The information comes from an allegedly leaked internal memo to AT&T staff that states: “On October 11, 2011, Microsoft is scheduled to begin rolling out the new Mango 7720 update to AT&T customers with existing HTC HD7S Windows Phone 7 devices”. Make sure your Zune software is up [...]
The HTC HD7S, AT&T’s own HTC HD7 with an S-LCD screen, was going to receive its Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update mid-October, according to reports that were right on the rest of the Windows Phones on the carrier.
Turns out that AT&T is really proving to be the “premier” carrier for the Redmond platform as the Mango update for the HTC HD7S is reportedly rolling out and hitting devices. This is good news both for the carrier and for Microsoft as AT&T Windows Phones (Samsung Focus, LG Quantum, HTC HD7S and HTC Surround) are being updated starting day [...]
AT&T continuously tries to remain the “premier” carrier for Windows Phone and, after making its Mango line-up public recently, turns out that the carrier is planning to roll-out Mango updates starting September 27.
WPCentral obtained information about the roll-out process for Mango destined for the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, Samsung Focus and HTC HD7S. The first free will reportedly get the updates starting September 27 and the HD7S will get its Mango treat mid-October. As far as the Focus is concerned, depending on your model, you’ll get the updates on [...]
Been waiting patiently for Mango updates to arrive? If you’ve got an HTC-made Windows Phone 7 device, you may be in for quite the treat, as official Mango releases for many of its models have just been leaked.
ROMs are available for the Gold (Pro), Mozart, Spark (Trophy), and Schubert (HD7). The only one missing appears to be the Mondrian (Surround). Most of these ROMs are for the European versions of the handsets, though there is one for the Trophy on Verizon. All are Mango 7720.68, the final version released to manufacturers.
If you’re going to try your hand [...]
A month ago we saw how you could update your Windows Phone to the latest Windows Phone Mango Beta but since then Redmond updated the build and released the Beta 2 of Mango which brings quite a lot of changes.
In this video walkthrough we’ll show you how to update basically any Windows Phone to the latest build 7712 of Mango, the Beta 2. The prerequisites are quite the same: you have to have a NoDo-powered Windows Phone and make sure you’ve got plenty of battery juice left!
1. Download the tool found at step 1 at the link below, version 0.3.2. Download and [...]
We’ve only seen Windows Phone 7 Mango running on the Asus prototype as well as on the HTC Trophy-like Mazaa with both the occasion of our Mango hands-on videos as well as Eldar Murtazin’s twelve-megapixel Windows Phone leak.
A video has surfaced on YouTube showing Windows Phone Mango running on the HTC HD7 — or is it the HD7S? You won’t see anything out of the ordinary in this video that you haven’t already known about the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform refresh but oddly enough these build keep on popping up and we can’t help but wonder [...]
The HTC HD7S is very similar to the HD7 on T-Mobile USA and other networks in Europe. There are only a few differences and improvements from the older HD7, but the biggest difference is that this model is available on AT&T with AT&T 3G bands. There were a few other things about the older HD7 that we really didn’t like. For example, the hardware buttons were difficult to use, the screen’s color was a bit washed out, and the camera had some white balance issues that would make for pink-tinted photos. Read on for our full review to find out how the new HD7S has [...]
The HTC HD7S on AT&T is very similar to the older HD7 on T-Mobile, however there are some significant differences and improvements. As with most Windows Phone 7 devices, the HTC HD7S is running a 1Ghz Snapdragon QSD8250 processor with 576Mb RAM, 512MB ROM, and 16Gb of storage. The 4.3″ Super LCD screen has a 480×800 pixel resolution and 4 point multi-touch. You’ve also got the usual WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, Assisted GPS, 5Mp camera with dual LED flash, 1230mAh battery, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, and a Micro-USB 2.0 port. The device dimensions are 68 x 122 x [...]
Are you on AT&T and you fancy a Windows Phone 7 like the newly released HTC HD7S? Instead of paying the carrier $199.99 for the Windows Phone you might as well head over to Best Buy as they’ve got a great deal on the smartphone.
Best Buy goes $150 lower than AT&T on the HTC HD7S offering it at $49.99. The price is valid of course with a two-year contract and they even throw in free shipping. Make sure to check out our unboxing video, the hardware tour and comparison with the HTC HD7 (sans S) available on T-Mobile as well as the software tour.

The HD7S is running the NoDo version of Windows Phone 7 right out of the box and of course it comes with some AT&T branded bundled apps. They’re all the same ones that you’d find on any other AT&T branded Windows Phone 7, and include things like Uverse Mobile, AT&T Navigator, AT&T Family Map, AT&T Radio and AT&T MyWireless. The AT&T Code scanner was not included by default, but that’s an easy download from the AT&T app store within the Marketplace. You’ve also got the HTC Hub preloaded, but that’s about it from [...]
This is our unboxing video of the newest Windows Phone for AT&T; the HTC HD7S. That’s AT&T’s fourth Windows Phone! It’s a minor upgrade from the HD7 that we’ve already seen on T-Mobile, but there are still some interesting differences. Inside the box, we’ve got the usual headphones, MicroUSB cable, and charging adapter… nothing special like a case or coupon codes or anything like that. The box is heavily AT&T branded and it was nice to see some significant hardware changes to the device compared to the T-Mobile version. Stay tuned for [...]
When we first reviewed HTC’s HD7, we were more or less pleased with the smartphone. We loved the big screen, the only of its kind for Windows Phone 7, but at the time we still weren’t completely sold on the software. Since then, NoDo’s arrived finally giving us the copy-and-paste we were hoping for, and that nice, big screen is about to get even better, upgrading to a Super LCD model with the release of the HD7S on AT&T. Announced two months ago, the carrier is now ready to set a release date, revealing that HD7S sales will begin on June 5, with the phone costing [...]
While Microsoft has yet to open Windows Phone 7’s compass API to app developers, handset manufacturers have access to more open programming tools. This allows HTC to release the first WP7 magnetic compass app with the HTC Arrive. The app was simultaneously introduced to the marketplace and it was quickly discovered to be compatible with other HTC WP7 devices.
The app prompts you to wave your phone in a figure-eight to calibrate the sensor, then overlays a compass on a map of your current location. The map allows you to select a destination for walking directions, and [...]
The HTC HD7 was available on T-Mobile for about $199 with a new contract — we gave it a 3.5 out of 5 — but looks like AT&T has got it up its sleeve with the carrier announcing the HTC HD7S.
AT&T is announcing the HD7S as the largest screened Windows Phone 7 to be available on the carrier as it will be joining the HTC Surround, Samsung Focus and LG Quantum. It will be shipping with the latest version of Windows Phone 7 — that is the NoDo update already applied — pretty much like the HTC Arrive on Sprint. As usual with AT&T Windows Phones, it [...]
HTC has submitted a Windows Phone 7 handset for FCC approval whose model number, label, and 3G band support suggest that it is a version of the HD7 suitable for use on AT&T. Packing the WCDMA Band V and II radios required for AT&T HSPA connectivity, this device goes by the model number PD29130 — just one digit off from the PD29110, a WCDMA Band IV-compliant Windows Phone from HTC which passed the FCC on October 4th and is almost certainly T-Mobile’s HD7. What’s more, the two devices sport FCC ID labels which are the exact same size and shape, highly [...]
