While HTC's standard-trim One M8 was one of the worst-kept secrets in smartphone history, its special-edition cousin managed to stay unseen almost right up until its unveiling last week. HTC and Sprint announced the device in a joint event held alongside Spotify executives in NYC, where our own Adam Lein got an informative if noisy hands-on. Shortly thereafter, HTC sent us a demo unit to try out for ourselves (alongside a Harman Karson Onyx Studio that we've yet to cover) and we've spent the last few days getting to know it. That proved more difficult than expected. The Harman/Kardon ...

Last week, we saw the Sprint exclusive Harman/Kardon edition of the HTC One M8. As we saw in Michael's unboxing and hands-on with the special edition One M8, it comes with a black and champagne paint job, a nice pair of Harman/Kardon earbuds, and special software which is said to improve audio quality. We can't quite confirm the latter just yet, as he is currently going ears-on the device. However, we can show you how you can "convert" your very own One M8 with this Harman/Kardon M8 mod. No, you won't get the fancy paint job or a snazzy set of earbuds, but, at the very least, you can take ...

Sprint announced its special Harman/Kardon edition HTC One M8 earlier this week, and while we were anticipating news of this Harman/Kardon connection after a leak a few weeks back, the news wasn't entirely what we had expected. Rather than activating the Harman/Kardon software enhancements via an update to Sprint's existing M8, the carrier instead introduced a whole separate model, bundled with H/K earbuds. Well what if you already bought the One M8? Are you out of luck? Far from it, and the enterprising minds over on the XDA-Developers forums have come up with a method to add these ...

Nimble hops between short subjects, or longform plumbing of deep depths? We don't like to make you choose with our podcast, so we occasionally hop across formats between episodes. This here is one of the deeper variety. This week's special guest is Myriam Joire (aka tnkgrl), Engadget alum and current product evangelist at Pebble. She brings her considerable expertise in optics and audio to a discussion ranging from the best high-end headphones to buy (to help replicate the "special" acoustic experience promised by the Harman/Kardon HTC One M8) to what camera settings to use for capturing ...

We checked out the Harman Kardon HTC One M8 at the Sprint launch event in NYC yesterday, but with all the hubbub on the show floor, conditions weren’t great for a proper hands-on. Thankfully, Sprint and HTC were good enough to send us our very own review unit for a second pass today, so we thought we'd take the opportunity to churn out a nice luxurious unboxing and hardware tour! You probably remember the HTC One M8 from our full review just a few weeks back (and, you know, because it's one of the biggest Android smartphones to launch this year). Out of the box, the Harman/Kardon variant ...

Earlier this month, back when sales of the HTC One M8 were just starting to expand to include non-Verizon carrier in-store availability, we checked out an interesting story about Sprint's version of the Android flagship. A rumor suggested that Sprint was going to get a special edition Harman/Kardon One M8, but then a close look at the currently available Sprint M8's software appeared to reveal that a number of Harman/Kardon-branded audio settings were already present, and simply hidden away from the user. Was the Sprint M8 already this Harman/Kardon edition, and the carrier was just ...

When an avalanche of reviews is rumbling its way down your mountain, it's rarely easy to assemble a podcast team – but as we frequently remind you, the Pocketnow Weekly has never missed a week, and we'll be damned if it'll do so now. So despite the forthcoming reviews of the Samsung Galaxy S 5, Gear Fit, Gear 2, Oppo Find 7a, Nokia X, and the just-completed reviews of the ZENS Qi line, BlackBerry 10.2.1, and the Verizon HTC One M8, we're banding together behind microphones in three separate cities on two continents to bring you the news and editorials of a very busy week in mobile. ...
