Update: We're live now! Join in below! We've got a Windows Phone 8.1 review video live and on the wire, a Windows Phone 8.1 written review coming down the pipe, an in-depth feature article on Cortana on the front page, and a ton of Windows Phone 8.1 impressions coming at you in a Pocketnow Weekly podcast going under the mic in a couple days. But we know you, and that's not enough: you need live, off-the-cuff impressions from the team you've come to trust for such things – and you'd like to see us on camera as we do it. Fair enough. At Pocketnow, we think we’ve assembled one of the best teams in mobile tech reporting. But mobile is a huge space to cover, and the list of outlets covering it is equally massive. Making up that techno-blogosphere is a long list of personalities – some eccentric, some conventional, but all interesting.  With the Pocketnow VIP (based on the popular Pocketnow Live), we aim to get to know some of these outstanding personalities – where they’re at, where they’re going, and what circumstances conspired to make them the people they are today. Because in a nuts-and-bolts world like ...

Update 3: Annnnd there we have it. VIP is complete and video is embedded below. Thanks to all who tuned in, and especially to those who contributed questions. See you on the next VIP! Update 2: All right folks, here we go! Wish us luck on our second attempt, now that Google's services are (hopefully) fully restored. See below for embed. Update: Sorry folks, but a global Google services disruption struck literally seconds before we hit the "Broadcast" button. Until Google gets this worked out, we'll be unable to kick off the VIP. Please stand by. At Pocketnow, we think we’ve assembled ...

For a while now, the mobile-tech review landscape has looked much the same. Reviewers like us craft lengthy written pieces packed with charts, photos, and videos, and readers like you ... read them. Sure, you have the opportunity to respond in the comments, and most good editors will answer questions there, but there's precious little real-time interaction between reader and reviewer. There's not much chance to ask questions, seek clarifications, or take a quick look at that one little detail. For a while, we've been trying to break down the wall between reviewer and reader - to allow you ...

Topic Pocketnow Live kicked off twenty Fridays ago. We can't even believe it ourselves that we're at the twentieth installment of a show that is highly popular not only among our viewers, readers, audience in general, but also among members of the team. Episode 20 is also the Season Finale. We're wrapping up Season One with the team that kicked it off. Worry not, we're not only planning on Season Two, but thinking way ahead. So, before we take a break from the Live, let's have a great casual conversation one more time. Plenty of things going on, from the Galaxy Mega and HP TouchPad Go ...

Topic Today is the day Apple will make it or break it. We're giving our Apple WWDC 2013 first impressions, live, as things happen, in a special episode of Pocketnow Live. You can tune in to watch us comment on news in real time, as usual, in a live, public (but closed) hangout. Apple is expected to unveil it's next generation of iOS today: iOS 7. Whether there will be mobile hardware (aside from laptops) is yet unknown but we wouldn't count on it. However, rumors of an iRadio streaming service are rather frequent and there has to be, as usual, "one more thing". The keynote will start at ...

Update: Due to technical difficulties, Stephen Schenck will not be able to join the Hangout today. Topic Next up on the list of major players to hold an event is the iPhone-maker. Apple WWDC 2013 is happening on Monday, June 10, and there have been lots of rumors, some even conflicting, regarding the event. Tim Cook almost confirmed iOS 7 for Apple WWDC 2013 and we know for quite some time that Johnny Ive is working on the project. Will it be something completely new or just a flatter version of iOS 6 is yet unknown. Then there are rumors of Apple's upcoming, alleged, streaming radio ...

Topic Google Edition smartphones seem to no only be the trending topic, but also the next big thing. Those preferring a vanilla Android experience, a Nexus experience, if you will, will definitely prefer the Google Edition Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One devices. Without TouchWiz or Sense, and with the latest vanilla version of stock Android, you can basically choose your own Nexus device. Is this the new trend for the future? Will we see more manufacturers adopt this dualist system of offering a device with two different user experiences? Will this mean that OEM personalization will slowly ...

Topic Jolla unveiled their first phone this week, together with "the other half", which brings an interesting concept to the mobile world. HTC's executives are leaving the company which makes us wonder whether this is a good or a bad things. Samsung officially sold 10 million Galaxy S 4 units through its global channels and unofficial sources talk about 5 million HTC One devices being sold. All this in a context in which Microsoft downgrades its YouTube app for Windows Phone in order to comply with Google's requirements. If any of the above is not an interesting enough topic for you then ...

Last Friday we were excited about the week ahead, this week, as it contained two days circled with very promising events: Nokia's Lumia 925 event in London and Google's I/O. Both came and passed, leaving us with a phone (or two), and ecosystem improvements. Depending on your expectations and standards your excitement probably either turned into delight or disappointment. Of course we'll talk about Nokia and Google I/O reactions, since they're the most recent (and probably among the last until the next big event of the year bringing us the next iPhone), and you can tell us why you're happy ...
