If you asked me last year if I would have ever considered using a ZTE smartphone as my daily driver, I probably would have chuckled, realized you might actually be serious, then answered with a solid, "No." It's not that ZTE is a bad manufacturer. But it has never been known for high-end flagship smartphones, something I'm admittedly a sucker for. Instead, ZTE is globally known for its prepaid and budget smartphone offerings. In fact, as recent as one year ago, ZTE was in a close fight for the position as third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. It has since been surpassed by ...

ZTE's new Grand Memo II LTE is one crazy thin smartphone. Is it the thinnest ever? Not by a long shot (well, in a crazy world where "long shots" measure in the millimeters); even back last year we were already hearing about phones coming in short of the six millimeter mark, and the Grand Memo II LTE is more like 7.2mm thick. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 400 chipset (MSM8926, the quad-core version with the Adreno 305) backed up by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, with a 13MP Sony BSI camera around back and a 5MP unit up front. That hardware is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat with version 2.3 of ZTE's MiFavor UI running on top. According to ZTE, ...

ZTE showed up to CES 2014 with a nice selection of devices in tow, including the Grand S II and Iconic Phablet (which we later looked at as the Boost MAX). We knew a lot about what to expect back then, thanks to the company announcing much of its hardware the week before CES got started. With MWC getting underway next week, ZTE is back to its old habits, and today reveals just what sort of spread it intends to put out for us. The highlight sounds like it might be the Grand Memo II LTE, another six-inch phablet with an “ultra slim” design; you might recall that we got to check out the ...
