The Motorola Droid took home three awards from the 2009 Engadget Awards, winning in the category of best gadget, best smartphone, and best GPS. While the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone M10 will be running on Windows Mobile 6.5.3, its cousin will be sporting Android. The Nuvifone A50 was previewed by Mobile Tech World and shown with multi-touch implementation on Android 1.6.

Google Maps for Android has just reached version 4.0, and with it comes Google Buzz. What is Buzz? Buzz extends the functionilty of "Latitude" (which allows you to share your location with friends, and their location with you). Imagine a location-aware Twitter-like layer overlaid on the Map which allows you to see the locations of everybody using Buzz, thier location-aware messages, and an attached photo (optional). Google Maps for Windows Mobile has just reached version 4.0, and with it comes Google Buzz. While Google Maps already has "Latitude" which will allow you to see and share your location with friends, the Buzz layer allows you to see the locations of everybody using Buzz along with thier location-aware little messages. CoPilot is adding several new features to its Windows Mobile and Android GPS turn-by-turn navigation software, including local search and traffic and fuel price, the latter two are premium features available at an added cost. Local search will allow users to search the internet for local points of interests (POIs) and should offer more POIs than what is built into the app. Traffic and fuel search are premium add-ons. The largest phone maker in the world has announced Thursday that it has made available its Ovi Maps--Nokia's turn-by-turn GPS navigation solution--free for the company's smartphones. MobileNavigator has been one of the best GPS turn-by-turn, voice guidance software for the iPhone and now Navigon is bringing the software to Android and Windows Mobile in the US officially. The company has had its MobileNavigator GPS mapping software in other geographic areas, but this should be a welcomed addition for US users.
