The 7nm-based Apple A12 processor expected to power those three next-gen iPhones in the fall has reportedly entered mass production at TSMC. Meanwhile, Samsung is getting close to manufacturing its own 7nm chip for 2019 flagship Androids.
Codenamed "Valley" for many years, Samsung's foldable smartphone project now carries a pompous "Winner" alias, reportedly eyeing a February 2019 public announcement. The more conventional Galaxy S10 could see daylight in January.
A refined design, reimagined camera and aggressive marketing campaigns should help the Galaxy S9 and S9+ sell better than their predecessors. As for their successors, a Galaxy X name is very much on the table.
Keep in mind that as Samsung approaches the tenth iteration of its flagship smartphone series next year that there's the potential of the foldable phone concept materializing that same year. Coincidence?
