It's sure seemed like Samsung was planning a whole series of Galaxy S 4 models, from the original smartphone to variants like the GS4 Mini, Zoom, and the Active we just got a chance to look at. Over the weekend, some new evidence arrived that just might point to another GS4 family member, taking its name from the manufacturer's new Mega line. A screenshot purporting to show the update details for the latest version of the Samsung WatchON app, arriving yesterday, notes that it "added support for upcoming S4 Mega, S4 mini, and S4 Active." That same line is missing from the "what's new" text ...

Taking a break from the Google I/O news for a moment, some new leaked pics have arrived of a phone we were talking about just a little bit earlier this morning, Samsung's Galaxy S 4 Mini. The GS4 Mini has appeared on-camera a number of times in recent days, and while all the sightings may only add up to circumstantial evidence, they sure all do seem in line with rumors that the phone could get a formal announcement before the month's out. As for specs, there have been some mentioned in various leaks, but we're still not 100% on what to expect. It would be great if rumors of an Exynos 5 ...

One of my biggest pet peeves with smartphones has been their branding. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it's all a bit like a car showroom: some models have lovely, flowery names without the slightest hint of a descriptive element, where others bog their names down with overly-descriptive initialisms - instead of GT and 4WD we have HD and LTE. In recent years, I've had the feeling that things were slowly getting better, with phone names trending towards a happy medium between those extremes. Most recently, some of Samsung's models caught my eye as a prime example of really ...

In the time leading up to the launch of the Galaxy S 4, we sure heard plenty of rumors about just what sort of hardware we'd end up seeing. You might remember that a "Project J" was mentioned more than once. Supposedly, the GS4 itself was the main Project J model, but a number of others were mentioned. Specifically, we heard about both a J Mini and a J Active. A GS4 Mini sounded about right, but at the time we didn't quite know what to make of the Active; recently, evidence of a waterproof GS4 Active has finally turned up to answer our questions. Today, we add to the Project J story with a ...

The Galaxy S 4 may be the Samsung Android getting the bulk of the market's attention, but it's far from alone as a 2013 addition to the company's lineup. Lately, we've been talking about a whole bunch of new Samsung devices, from those that have already gone official, like the two Galaxy Mega models, to ones that remain the stuff of rumors, like the Galaxy S 4 Active and S 4 Zoom, which we just heard of yesterday. Now we get some idea of when many of these models could arrive, thanks to a leaked list of launch dates. This data may be specific to European releases, but at least it might ...

An unusual bit of Galaxy S 4 news ended up on our desk earlier this week, when a Samsung exec claimed that, despite the regular GS4 only now just starting to go up for sale, Samsung was already preparing to follow it up with a ruggedized edition, offering a dust and waterproof construction. Was this guy getting a little confused about the company line, or could such a thing really be in our future? It's actually starting to sound pretty likely, now that The Wall Street Journal has chimed-in with reports that the phone could arrive as the Galaxy S 4 Active. While the GS4 Active would offer ...

Both 2012 and 2013 have been great years for mobile technology, but we have a feature called "Worst Gadgets Ever" for a reason. We thought we'd help you with the Top 5 devices that we would all skip out of everything ...
