Samsung may not be the best company this year when it comes to updating any of their last-year smartphones with Android 4.2.2, and we're sure that many of you holding a Galaxy S III or a Galaxy Note II understand this level of frustration, but still, there's no denying that the company is doing a good job in launching each new smartphone with the latest version of Android. We've seen it with ever smartphone that they've launched since last year, and if they keep that trend, that should mean good news for the Galaxy Note III. Samsung's press event to launch their new iteration to the Galaxy ...

Back at the beginning of July, we caught wind of a rumor suggesting that Samsung's next phablet, the Galaxy Note III, would make its debut on September 4. Really, that was all sorts of not surprising, since we've been looking forward to the Android launching during this year's IFA in Berlin. Still, it was nice to have a precise date rather than the whole of the expo to anticipate the Note III. Then just a few days ago we heard that very same date mentioned again for the phablet's unveiling – while still nothing official, it was sounding more and more likely. Today we get all the ...

Every once in a while, reflections play a big part in bringing us some new smartphone news. Remember the big Lumia 920 scandal when a reflection revealed that its supposed optical stabilization demo was being faked? On certain rare occasions, we even manage to catch a glimpse of an unreleased smartphone thanks to a reflection in a sample pic. That's the very boat we find ourselves in today, with what sure seems to be a Galaxy Note III revealing itself on Google+. Samsung model SM-N9005 is one we've associated with the Note III before, checking out an earlier sample pic on Picasa last ...

A September 4 Samsung Galaxy Note III announcement date is not at all impossible, given the fact that previous iterations were all introduced at the August/September IFA, in Berlin. We are expecting the South Koreans to unveil the next Note phablet at the same trade show, this year. According to this latest report from Korea, we will not only see the new Samsung Galaxy Note III on September 4 -- two days before the official start of IFA 2013 -- but the manufacturer is also planning on unveiling a smartwatch on the same day. There were lots of leaks, reports, and rumors, surrounding the ...

We're not sure what to make of all the recent Samsung Galaxy Note III rumors and leaks, since the South Koreans are doing a great job, usually, at keeping things under wraps. Sure, we've seen some prototypes pictured in the past, but they might have nothing in common with the final product expected to be unveiled at IFA 2013, at the beginning of September. Now this pair of images, allegedly depicting prototype Samsung Galaxy Note III internals, seem to show, for the first time, the interior of the upcoming phablet. Not much can be seen, and what could be interesting is covered (like the ...

As we wait form Samsung to launch the Galaxy Note III, we've been trying to weed through the tangled mess that has become the rumors surrounding the phablet. There's just so much information going around, some of conflicting, that's it's been a real chore trying to get a solid read on the Android. Earlier today we were talking about disagreements over just how large the Note III will really be, a recurring theme in these rumors. Today we get to check out some new evidence that sure seems to imply that Samsung has been testing at least three different screen sizes for the Note III. This ...

As with LG's G2, the Samsung Galaxy Note III does a lousy job at hiding from the headlines (and from the camera). Of course, as we said with the occasion of the previous leak, these images might be the real deal, or they might have nothing in common with what we'll see at IFA; Samsung is known to conceal its products pretty well. On that note, the device above is claimed to be the Galaxy Note II follow-up. Furthermore, a recent Samsung Galaxy S III note leak report claims to have knowledge from Samsung insiders that the device will have a 5.7-inch screen, opposed to previous rumors of 5.99 ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about some more launch-date plans for the LG G2, which you already assumed after so many leaks. Then let's continue with Samsung as it seems that the Galaxy Note III won't have the fingerprint scanner after all. More rumors of a Nokia 6-inch phablet resurface and we hope it's great. We later talk about the Consumer Reports verdict on the camera of the Nokia Lumia 1020, which we don't agree with. We end today's show talking about the Samsung, HTC and Sony plans for upgrading their smartphone line-up to Android 4.3. All this and more after the break. ...

For some reason, the idea of giving smartphones fingerprint scanners has been all over rumors of upcoming hardware, and the bulk of that focus has been directed towards Apple and Samsung: a fingerprint scanner has long followed rumors of the iPhone 5S, and we saw some leaked software resources from Samsung back in May that sure seemed to imply that it was working to adopt the same technology. Recently, it's been sounding like all this fingerprint enthusiasm might have hit a snag, upon reports arriving that Apple was running into production issues that might ultimately impact handset ...

The idea of smartphones with not 1GB, not 2GB, but 3GB of RAM has been kicking around for the longest time. So far, we've yet to see any such beasts, but it finally may be time for that to change. Rumors have been back-and-forth on the possibility of the upcoming LG G2 arriving with 3GB of memory, while they've been a little more consistent for the idea of the Galaxy Note III getting the same. Of course, it's easy to talk about 3GB phones when we don't have to sweat all the details – even if you wanted to make a phone like this, how exactly would you go about doing it? Enter Samsung, ...

Last week we've seen a set of purported Samsung Galaxy Note III pictures but they weren't quite telling. Today, on that exact same note, we're seeing new Samsung Galaxy Note III alleged pictures, this time, while not very telling, nonetheless, better than the previous ones. First of all, this is claimed to be a prototype of the Note III. As we know pretty well, Samsung is doing a good job at concealing the actual design and aspect of its phones (from different designs to snap-on cases). That being said, the product which will be hopefully unveiled at IFA 2013 might not look like the one ...

There are a lot of reasons to be excited about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note III. We might end up seeing one of the first implementations of this next-gen Exynos 5 Octa Samsung's been teasing. And then there was all that talk about multiple hardware versions, giving users a choice of materials and display types – maybe even using some of that unbreakable screen tech developed for flexible OLED panels. But one thing we haven't really been too concerned with is the Note III's camera. Nevertheless, it's the focus of our latest GN3 leak, with what sure appears to be a shot it took turning ...

Samsung may still seem to be working on new versions of the Galaxy S 4, but when we're talking about what's next for its Android lineup, nothing's more anticipated than the Galaxy Note III. One thing we haven't had yet is a good look at a believable Note III candidate – sure, there have been a lot of attempts, but nothing really convincing. Today we get to see ...

Yesterday brought us an interesting new rumor about Samsung's Galaxy Note III, suggesting that the phablet might be available in a wide variety of hardware configurations – possibly with four key configurations of varying body materials, display types, and camera choices. Samsung's no stranger to releasing multiple versions of one device, so the idea didn't seem so far-fetched. Today we might already have some support for the idea, upon the discovery of a whole bunch of Galaxy Note III model numbers. This whole thing got started by the apparent discovery of some User Agent Profiles on ...

This might sound as a "me too" thing for many out there but in fact it's just natural evolution of smartphones. We've heard yesterday that the LG G2 might be the first smartphone to pack 3GB of RAM, for improved multi-tasking and performance, and we're now hearing it might be soon followed by another flagship. Design and build materials are more important than ever in the smartphone space. The vast majority of smartphones these days are of the same form factor, a svelte, rectangular slab. And they're generally made of one or a combination of standard materials: plastic (also referred to as polycarbonate) and aluminum. The Oppo Find 5 is also made of steel, and Motorola's RAZR series features a Kevlar backing. Years ago, we wouldn't have paid much attention to what each phone was made of. But no longer is there a huge difference in functionality or specifications between each flagship phone. And ...
