Remember those rumors according to which Samsung was allegedly worried about the build quality and hence was reportedly planning on something different for the upcoming Note III? Ok, now forget them! However, get your skeptical suit on. According to more rumors, this time, based on insider info, Samsung will release the Note III with a design similar to the Galaxy S 4 (and Note II, and Galaxy S III). The flexible display rumors and the probable metal body hear-say have been debunked, by more rumors. The report continues with some specs we'll supposedly see on the next Note phablet, ...

At Pocketnow, we have a responsibility to try the new, the fresh, and the weird - and that latter swamp is exactly the one Managing Editor Anton D. Nagy waded into with his recent review of the ASUS Fonepad - the tablet with an earpiece. Or the phone with a tablet screen. Whatever you want to call it, we've covered it - and Tony has some thoughts about using a seven-inch smartphone in this edition of one of your favorite tech podcasts. After we clear the giant-phone convo, we've got more to say. Lots more. And, doubtless to the relief of thousands, very little of it involves Samsung's ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the Galaxy S 4 carrier availability and the irony that TecTiles no longer work for it. Later we go through some Galaxy Note III rumors and the fact that apparently it'll be a bigger and better phone. Some Sony Xperia phones are next as the company plans to apparently give the phablet category a try. Then we talk about Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and yes, that's not Android 5.0, we know. We end today's show talking about Google Now and what it means for it to only launch on iOS and not on legacy Android devices. All this and more after the break. ...

Just like Samsung's upcoming tablet designs, the last few months have been rife with rumors of the next Galaxy Note phablet. While we had heard plenty, that all got tossed a curve ball last month when Samsung announced its new Galaxy Mega models; were these the giants that some of those Note III rumors had actually been discussing? With those now public, we're back on the trail of the Note III, with new rumors about specs and a number of prototype designs. Now, there's one big caveat to make about these specs: the source which provided them also had a picture purporting to show off the new ...

Despite of how much we'd like this to become reality we should treat this with a large dose of skepticism right from the start. Now that we've got this out of the way, a recent report, based on "Samsung insider" information, talks about how the South Korean manufacturer is allegedly "worried" about its design and build quality after seeing the success of the HTC One. That same anonymous source claims knowledge of a revamped Galaxy Note III, to be made out of some sort of metal, probably aluminum, while also ditching the S III, Note II, and S 4 design guidelines. The refresh is expected to ...

What do we know about the Galaxy Note III? We've heard about some potential screen sizes (though we're now second-guessing that info upon learning about some other big non-Note Galaxy models), and we've looked into what the choices Samsung made with the Galaxy S 4 might tell us about its plans for the Note III. Now a new rumor is suggesting the Note III could debut some new Samsung camera software. Supposedly, The Note III will be used by Samsung to launch its "S Orb" software, the company's take on Google's Photo Sphere. We're hard-pressed to come up for a reason why Samsung feels ...

We love us some new technology, and we certainly give it its fair shake on today's episode of the Pocketnow Weekly. But every so often, you need to give a little lip-service to the tech of days gone by. The platforms and devices of yesteryear. That's right: I'm talking about dead technology. It makes sense, then, that a man going by the twitter handle DeadTechnology is here to help us dust off those fond memories. In his inaugural visit to the Pocketnow Weekly, our own Adam Doud pulls back the veil of public apathy secrecy surrounding the phenomenon of the "webOS meetup," a regular ...

Upcoming Samsung smartphones can never seem to shake rumors that they could be the models to premiere some of Samsung's flexible display technology. Samsung's been previewing its work on such flexible OLED components at trade shows over the years, and everyone's been wondering when the company will get around to finally commercializing them. One idea has been that Samsung would start small, and rather than introducing a full-on bendable phone, might market such display panels as being "unbreakable." That popped-up early on in the rumors for the Galaxy S 4, but didn't come to pass. The very ...

Here's the thing about new smartphone launches: no one's ever satisfied. And I don't just mean in terms of direct satisfaction; sure, some of us aren't exactly blown away by the Galaxy S 4 in terms of how it measures up to the competition, but most everyone agrees it's at least a worthy successor to the Galaxy S III. That uneasy consensus, though, doesn't keep us from daydreaming about the next flagship smartphone in the Galaxy pipeline: the rumored Galaxy Note III. Many will say this smartphone salivation is premature. After all, we just reviewed the current king of phablets, the Galaxy ...

After seeing the looks and specs of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 we made a bold prediction regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note III in our Pocketnow Live show: since the S 4 looks almost identical to the S III, we're betting Samsung will utilize these design guidelines to make the Note III look almost identical to the Note II (which is following the outer aspect of the S III). History also teaches us that the Note usually comes with a spec-bump from that year's S-Phone but what exactly does Samsung have in mind, or whether they'll prove us right or wrong, is yet unknown... to us. However, some ...

There's still plenty we don't know about Samsung's Galaxy Note III, but the sparse rumors that have arrived to date have been pretty split over the issue of the phone's display size. Now that the Galaxy S IV has moved up into the five-inch range, it only follows that the Note would grow in order to more cleanly differentiate itself from the GS4, but just how big will it be? So far, we've heard both 5.9 inches and 6.3 inches tossed around as potential sizes. While the former has been the number put forth most recently, today the latter is sounding a little more likely, thanks to the ...

Tomorrow's the big day. March 14. Now sure, if you're a math fan you're already excited about the opportunity to celebrate your favorite irrational constant, but this year in particular, the rest of us have reason to look forward to the fourteenth as well, with Samsung running its big Unpacked event. Short of out and saying it, the company's done pretty much everything it can to confirm that this will be the grand unveiling of the Galaxy S IV, the company's 2013 Android flagship. That's going to be great to hear, and we're itching for the opportunity to confirm the oh, so many details ...
