Once considered a niche device that held no true purpose, the tablet has beat all odds to become a thriving, mainstream product. It has come to be a choice item in many people's mobile arsenal, a common household item for many. For me, the tablet has become a staple in my workflow. Such is the case for many of the people I know – colleagues, friends, family and strangers. I can't go to the local coffee shop without seeing at least a couple people plop their iPad on the table. And just about all hours of the day, I have my iPad mini propped up, waiting to notify me of any incoming ...

If you're interested in how the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 stacks up against the most notable members of the competition, then this video is for you! We're comparing the newest member of the Galaxy Note family to the Apple iPad mini and the ASUS-made Google Nexus 7. All three devices have relatively similar screen sizes, ranging from seven to eight inches in diagonal. However, the screen resolutions used slightly differ - and as a consequence, PPI rating is also different. The Galaxy Note 8.0 runs Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top of Android while the Nexus 7 offers the vanilla Android ...

After initial rumors and leaks, Samsung went on record last month when an executive actually confirmed that the Galaxy Note 8.0 would be announced at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Last night, the South Korean manufacturer announced the next member of the Galaxy Note family via a press release. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 joins the Note II and the Note 10.1 in bringing the S-Pen to an eight-inch form-factor. The tablet is following Samsung's recent design language to the letter in both shapes and materials; it is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor (the same which is ...

The idea of a mid-sized Galaxy Note tablet has been kicking around for a while now, and last month we heard rumors that this Galaxy Note 8.0 might make its debut during the Mobile World Congress. That sentiment was later echoed by a Samsung exec, and after seeing some Note 8.0 signage up at Samsung's booth earlier today – well, the tablet was already feeling as good as launched. Sure enough, tonight Samsung followed-through on all those teases and has now officially announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 with S Pen stylus. Samsung says that the idea around the eight-inch version of this tablet is ...

We've seen pictures of devices purporting to be Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0. We've even seen something crop up in some Samsung-produced photos that looked a bit Note-8.0-ish, though just a bit wonky. What we haven't had yet is a full-on official look at the tablet, though that all changes today; while Samsung has yet to announce the Note 8.0, signage has already been spotted at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, as we've already heard a Samsung exec say that the Note 8.0 would be featured at the expo. The imagery up at the MWC ...

In the far-off reaches of Barcelona, two men fight for the right to party tell their tale. Battling narrow urban canyons, strange fast-food condiments, kielbasa-selling mobile-phone salesmen, and seagulls with voices only seagull mothers could love, they fight tooth and nail to share their story. The story of the wonders of mobile technology. You won't hear about all of the weird encounters that have greeted Anton D. Nagy and Michael Fisher since their arrival in Spain for the 2013 Mobile World Congress, but you'll definitely get a taste of what it's been like on the first harrowing day ...

Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the Galaxy Note 8.0 one more time, hoping this is actually the last because so many rumors without a device tend to bore. Then we move to the Galaxy S IV, which now has a new and earlier release date rumor. LG is next as we talk about their new Optimus G Pro and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor included. Nokia is next as apparently MWC 2013 will show us four smartphones to be released, and no tablet. We end today's show talking about the Ubuntu Tablet that'll be released tomorrow. All this and more after the break. Stories: - Galaxy ...

With the Mobile World Congress just around the corner, Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 should just be a matter of days away from going official. While we're obviously looking forward to getting the official full story on the tablet, we can't help but be drawn to all the rumors that continue to attempt giving us an early idea of just how the Note 8.0 will arrive. The latest to come our way concern the tablet's European retail launch, a subject we've covered before. Last time, the prices we heard were a little nuts, at least from a US perspective, but really weren't that odd considering what other ...

Thanked to some early pics, we already know what to expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to look like, and even though we've heard Samsung confirm that the tablet will debut at the MWC this month, we hadn't yet seen any official imagery of it. Well, it looks like either someone slipped up, or Samsung is just interested in giving us a little preview, as what could be the Note 8.0 has now been spotted in some new promo pics for the Galaxy Note 10.1. Samsung just introduced a new Garnet Red color option for the Note 10.1 LTE in South Korea, and while that model takes the foreground in the ...

Ever since the May 2012 launch of the Galaxy S III in London we've voiced our beliefs that the next iteration of the phone will follow a similar trend. Samsung's special event for unveiling key hardware is dubbed "Unpacked" and a recent report seems to confirm what a company executive hinted recently: there will be no Galaxy S IV at MWC in Barcelona. Apparently there will be no Unpacked event at MWC next month and, according to "people familiar with the matter" there will be no official unveiling at all at the show. However, Samsung will have a presence on the show-floor -- and quite a ...

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 is a lock for the Mobile World Congress next month, and while we've already started getting some opportunities to check out early pictures of the hardware, there's still plenty that's not known about the tablet, including just how affordably it might be priced. There are some new rumors going around this week suggesting that the tablet could end up being on the expensive side, but before that starts scaring you away from the Note 8.0, it's important to place the news in context. MobileGeeks.de ran the Note 8.0's model numbers through the systems of a couple ...

We've seen a couple of real-life images, the first ones, depicting the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, which slowly runs out of secrets as we are approaching MWC, but none of those photos were showing off the S-Pen. Though it's been almost a certainty, it's always good to have a confirmation, like the one above and below. Other than that, everything appears to be already old news, including the looks and the specs, which are expected to include an eight-inch screen with 800 x 1280 resolution - S-LCD - 1.6GHz quad-core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB internal storage options, microSD card slot, ...
