Wow, the morning has just begun and we're already flocked with a ton of pre-orders and now even a device that's already being sold. Such is the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, which now reaches Samsung's Experience Store in London, and this time it's not just for you to order it. You can either go to the London store and give it a try, or pick one up if your mind is made. Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 marks the sweet spot for pen input. The Galaxy Note II is not a small phone at all, but it is rather big for most people, and the Galaxy Note 10.1 is simply too big to take notes ...

Last week, following the introduction of the Galaxy S 4, we talked a little about Samsung's promises to bring some of the GS4's features to existing Samsung models. Today, we're back to looking at what the future holds for updates to a number of Samsung devices, this time concerning the possibility of them seeing get Android 5.0. This info is supposedly a "pre-list" from a Samsung insider, and the data may change between now and when Samsung makes its final decisions. Basically, of all Samsung Androids currently announced, only the Galaxy S 4, the GS3, the Note II, Note 8.0, and Note 10.1 ...

The big problem with Android on full-scale tablets, as we've pointed out time and time again, is that there's no significant Android app ecosystem at that screen size. Google Play apps written for smartphones automatically scale up and work well enough, sure, but it's certainly not an ideal experience at anything over 7 inches - a fact Apple harped on during its iPad mini launch event. That's an old conversation, and we along with others have spent the better part of a year speculating on possible solutions to this problem. Of course, the short answer is "Android devs need to code more ...

Mobile World Congress 2013 was, as promised, a boatload of fun and a bucket of hot tech-geek action. While we didn't see everything we wanted to, we were treated to an avalanche of smartphones and tablets running everything from Android to Windows Phone to Sailfish to FirefoxOS. We got a gander at some really impressive form factors too, at sizes ranging from the conventional to the fantastic. If you were off the internet for the duration of last week, or if you simply couldn't deal with the cavalcade of content gushing forth from the tech-news spigot, that's okay. We understand. And we've ...

Samsung smartphones and tablets may not offer quite the same bold assortment of colors you'd get with a company like Nokia, but there's usually at least a handful of options available for any given model. While Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 a little over a week ago, so far we've only seen the tablet in white, and the official press release doesn't mention a thing about other colors. Well, now it looks like there could be one other Note 8.0 option, upon the discovery of some renders of the tablet in charcoal black. These pics arrive alone, without any new info on just when this ...

Technically, the Mobile World Congress may finish-up tomorrow, but with all the big smartphone and tablet events over, we're calling it a wrap. We've had a great time the past several days bringing you news of all the new hardware and software companies came to the event to promote, and as we now begin to recuperate and get back to business as usual, we wanted to take a look back on MWC 2013 and everything it brought us. The week leading up to the MWC was filled with rumors, as we should expect, and while some played out, others fell flat on their faces. LG really got things started early, ...

We think it's pretty fair to say that MWC 2013 was one part IFA and one part CES: a few stark disappointments peppered among some really amazing stuff. We've seen technology this week ranging from the incredible to the absurd - from the third iteration of ASUS's wild Padfone concept to the improbable debut of a Kyocera Echo lookalike. The big guys have come out to play, too, but they're a little shy this time around: neither Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 nor Nokia's midrange Lumias blew the roof off the joint. Even a few has-beens came out to confuse us with their wares, some of which will be ...

Once considered a niche device that held no true purpose, the tablet has beat all odds to become a thriving, mainstream product. It has come to be a choice item in many people's mobile arsenal, a common household item for many. For me, the tablet has become a staple in my workflow. Such is the case for many of the people I know – colleagues, friends, family and strangers. I can't go to the local coffee shop without seeing at least a couple people plop their iPad on the table. And just about all hours of the day, I have my iPad mini propped up, waiting to notify me of any incoming ...

If you're interested in how the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 stacks up against the most notable members of the competition, then this video is for you! We're comparing the newest member of the Galaxy Note family to the Apple iPad mini and the ASUS-made Google Nexus 7. All three devices have relatively similar screen sizes, ranging from seven to eight inches in diagonal. However, the screen resolutions used slightly differ - and as a consequence, PPI rating is also different. The Galaxy Note 8.0 runs Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top of Android while the Nexus 7 offers the vanilla Android ...

After initial rumors and leaks, Samsung went on record last month when an executive actually confirmed that the Galaxy Note 8.0 would be announced at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Last night, the South Korean manufacturer announced the next member of the Galaxy Note family via a press release. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 joins the Note II and the Note 10.1 in bringing the S-Pen to an eight-inch form-factor. The tablet is following Samsung's recent design language to the letter in both shapes and materials; it is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor (the same which is ...

The idea of a mid-sized Galaxy Note tablet has been kicking around for a while now, and last month we heard rumors that this Galaxy Note 8.0 might make its debut during the Mobile World Congress. That sentiment was later echoed by a Samsung exec, and after seeing some Note 8.0 signage up at Samsung's booth earlier today – well, the tablet was already feeling as good as launched. Sure enough, tonight Samsung followed-through on all those teases and has now officially announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 with S Pen stylus. Samsung says that the idea around the eight-inch version of this tablet is ...

We've seen pictures of devices purporting to be Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0. We've even seen something crop up in some Samsung-produced photos that looked a bit Note-8.0-ish, though just a bit wonky. What we haven't had yet is a full-on official look at the tablet, though that all changes today; while Samsung has yet to announce the Note 8.0, signage has already been spotted at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, as we've already heard a Samsung exec say that the Note 8.0 would be featured at the expo. The imagery up at the MWC ...

We've been on-site for a full day in Barcelona, making preparations to cover one of the year's biggest mobile technology shows. Last night, we let you in on the fun and frustration of our pre-show planning on a special episode of the Pocketnow Weekly podcast. Later today, we're hosting a special MWC-focused episode of the Pocketnow Live broadcast. But right now, we'd like briefly to share our predictions, hopes, and dreams for MWC 2013. You know we're serious about this, because we stood out in the rain next to a major Barcelona landmark, and Tony wore his leather jacket. So quit yer ...
