A couple days back, we had the chance to go hands-on with Samsung's newest tablet, the big, high-res Galaxy Note 10.1. From the S-pen support, to the choice of processors, to the new faux-leather-texture back panel (complete with that darling fake stitchwork), the new 10.1 shares more than just a name with the also-brand-new Note 3. Samsung may be the king of smartphones, but every single time they've launched a tablet in the past, I cringe. You can bet they've made me cringe continuously as well, since I've lost count of the amount of Galaxy tablets in the market. Some people argue that the only reason why Samsung sells so many smartphones is because of their marketing, and even though there's a high level of accuracy to that remark, that's not as easy as you think. If the product is not good, customers have a window of return, and we do know a ton of cases of people that have returned products because of that. ...

Yes, it's still 2013 - you don't need to double check your calendar. Nevertheless, Samsung's already introducing us to its 2014 tablet lineup, and today announced its new Galaxy Note 10.1. While the Note 3 and Galaxy Gear were the obvious stars of the company's Unpacked event, the 2014 Note 10.1's improvements over last year's model are arguably even more significant than the changes we see from Note II to 3, especially in that jump up to the new WQXGA 2560 X 1600 resolution.
