Samsung has spent the last couple of years improving some existing ideas, like in the case of smartphones, or defying the existing trends with others, like phablets. In both of these cases, Samsung has succeeded, but where the company has failed terribly is in its attempt to give us all a content consumption alternative. Apple currently owns the content consumption business with services like iTunes and the App Store, but Samsung hasn't seen the same success, even if there are more Galaxy smartphones in the market. As a result, we've seen Samsung brush off its Media Hub earlier this year, ...

Last night in New York City, Samsung launched their new Samsung Galaxy Tab S series of Android tablets and after the presentation, we got to try them out for the first time.  You can read more about all the specs and special bundles in our announcement post. The big thing about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S is the new Super Amoled screen. We've known about the advantages of AMOLED screens for a long time on smart phones, but this is the first time we've seen them on tablets. Samsung's Super AMOLED screens look amazing on smartphones and they still look amazing on their tablets. Colors are ...

Counterpoint Research just shared its numbers and Apple's iPhone sales grew from 31% to a staggering 43% during the month of December. Samsung on the other hand actually lost marketshare, going from a 34% to just 30% during the same month. Analysts predict that this ...

"Hey, is that the new Galaxy?" No, it's a Android-powered Galaxy Nexus. "Yeah? I love Droids!" Those are from Verizon, and they're primarily made my Motorola, this one's on T-Mobile and made by Samsung. "Oh! So it is a Galaxy!" - #FACEPALM - ARGH! Face it, you're either on the frustrated side of that conversation, or you're the one doing the frustrating. But it's not your fault: Android-powered smartphones and tablets are suffering from an identity crisis. I love that Android is as successful as it is! We have 53.4% of the market share. I've got co-workers that have a Note II, a ...

I'm looking at a press release that flashed into my inbox this morning, a notice from AT&T that the company will soon be launching three new smartphones and a tablet. Surveying the list, it quickly becomes apparent that all of these newcomers have two things in common: they're all built by Samsung, and they all bear the word "Galaxy" in their names. That should come as a surprise to absolutely no one; Samsung has been using the celestial surname to denote its Android smartphone and tablet products for years. But as the South Korean OEM continues to flood the market with more and more ...
