Since AT&T is about to do away with 2G forever at the end of the year and T-Mobile, amazingly enough, won't be until 2021, the Un-carrier thought of maybe roping in a few extra subscribers with new Internet of Things technology with its old, old wireless standard. It is offering AT&T customers with IoT data services free SIMs as needed to switch their devices to T-Mobile's "new spectrum-efficient" GSM network and a complimentary 50MB of data for each device per month until January. After that, a specialized T-Mobile One plan would kick in, though we don't know the cost as of yet. ...

With more LTE coverage comes more power. And T-Mobile isn't afraid of showing users what that power holds for them. A random selection of accounts are getting data plan upgrades. Those who have the 10GB data bucket (possibly on a four-line account) are getting unlimited data for two years. 2.5GB and 5GB bucket holders will get 1GB extra every month, which can be used for Wi-Fi hotspot and tethering purposes or put in their Data Stash for up to a year. Customers will continue to be charged their normal bills through March 2019, when upgraded accounts will be placed back on their original ...

The iPhone 7 goes on pre-sale tomorrow from most every corner of the commercialized world. Heck, maybe even McDonald's will be offering you a little Jet Black machine with some fries. But if you're in the United States, you're more likely to look to your carriers as your sales channel and Sprint wants to be your sales channel and your cellular service provider. Starting tomorrow*, current or new customers can head to Sprint, trade in a Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, iPhone 6s or iPhone 6, and sign up or recommit to its service plans (including, but not limited to the new Unlimited Freedom ...

As rumors have it, Verizon has decided to make free a feature that cost an extra $5 per month for its more data-conservative subscribers. "Safety Mode," which throttles account holders' data speeds to 128kbps if they reach their LTE data cap, was originally introduced as free to those on the new Verizon Plan at the 16GB (XL) and 24GB (XXL) tiers. Other plan holders had to pay the extra fee for the privilege of being able to escape overage fees for almost unusable internet speeds. But even the 2GB (S), 4GB (M) and 8GB (L) tiers can opt-in for Safety Mode for free now, so long as they ...

The Lumia 950 started life at the Microsoft Store in the UK at £449.99. Even with Brexit killing the Pound Sterling's buying power, discounts have been cascading upon the phone as its popular reception chilled from cool to freezing. After dropping to £289 last month, the SIM-free Lumia 950 is now some 45 percent off its original price at an even £249. The price looks to be a permanent one, at least as permanent as the price justification. Over in the states, the Lumia 950 has seen a temporary 10 percent chop in cost to $359.10. If you buy either the 950 or the 950 XL from the ...

It's been three months of T-Mobile Tuesdays. In that time, we saw the program set Domino's Pizza up for a fall, servers taking a tumble, but — and this is where CEO John Legere would come bursting through a wall to point at us — it has made many people happy by giving them some 14 million free perks just for being cellular services customers who like to think pink and #GetThanked. Well, the revolving door of partner perk providers has brought in some interesting characters today. T-Mobile announced that Buffalo Wild Wings, PetSmart, sandwich chain Subway and gas company Shell are in ...

Verizon's preferences have overtaken Samsung's plans for a uniform customer experience on the Galaxy Note 7. It's not a newly-found habit for the Checkmark, but this time around, it seems really cheap. If you're still considering getting a Galaxy Note 7, let this piece be a guide as to what you'll miss out when chewing Big Red. Let's start with Samsung Cloud. If you're a big company with servers, you've got to offer a cloud service, right? It's kicking up dust by offering every Note 7 buyer 15GB of free space for backups, media, Internet settings and other things for your Samsung device. ...

The date is August 19 and that means it's time for Samsung and its retail and carrier partners to move units and win hearts over the Galaxy Note 7. First shipments should be moving to mailboxes today, if not already and the chaebol is reminding us that you should probably buy some accessories for that new $800+ phablet you're getting. If you have not taken advantage of the company's offer of a free Gear Fit 2 wearable or a 256GB microSD, you still have up until August 28 to do so. Buy a Galaxy Note 7 from any participating carrier and then head on over to Samsung's promotions site for ...

Miami-based BLU usually flies under the radar when compared to the bigger names, but you'll see them on Amazon if you're looking for cheap, good value smartphones and you'll hear about a new phone or two every so often. This one's a little different. The company's publicizing a giveaway on its social media channels for the Pure XR, a phone that has 4GB of RAM and... not much else. At least, not much BLU's willing to tell us before it officially launches on August 29 for $299 — though there's a chance as with prior BLU releases that an early bird discount may come into play. You may infer ...

Huawei MateBook sales have kicked off in the UK at a slight premium from the scheduled US pricing. Now, the Microsoft Store is moving to up the ante stateside. In addition to selling the Huawei MateBook at its suggested prices with a free Portfolio Keyboard in either black or a tan (brown) color — a $129 value. That and — this is probably the most important part — you get three months of Hulu for free. It's interesting to note that the tan Portfolio Keyboard is in the box with the UK units. Update: Huawei is taking $100 off Amazon purchases of MateBooks and keyboards. Both promotions ...

Family plans — the bane of offsprings' existence. Usually, it comes to those children who nudge their mother or father to have to move plans or just break away from an agreement to go their own way, especially when there's a promo going on. Well, check Verizon out and see if your family's willing to make the switch: it's offering a four line plan with 16GB of shared data for $150 per month. The actual mechanics of the deal is that if you enroll on an 8GB or better Verizon Plan with up to 10 lines, you'll get an extra 2GB per line per month for your account to use. The "L" plan has a $70 ...

Spotify has never made money, but it has to in order to survive. And the service will be under more pressure to make more money from its free users if Apple's proposed new flat-rate royalties model takes effect. So, the Swedish company has launched programmatic buying that lets advertisers target their 15-second or 30-second clips to over 70 million users by age, gender, — here's where it gets rich — genres and even playlists. Yes, Spotify's selling you out based on your music preferences. And every vendor has access to that data. Does the line get drawn there? Are you keeping private ...

Just because you're saving money as best you can doesn't mean you don't deserve some extra help in doing so. If you and someone else are on an AT&T's prepaid GoPhone plan or you're thinking of getting on one, heed this bit of news before GoPhoning for it. Sorry. Anyways, you can get two smartphones for the price of one starting Friday, July 22, so long as they're valued above $59.99. Both phones have to be on a $45 or $60 monthly plan. Also, be prepared to talk it out with a customer service rep: you must redeem the offer at an AT&T or Authorized Retail store. You can learn more ...

The base rate for an unlimited data plan on T-Mobile is $95 per month. On Sprint, it's $75. Spread that difference over two years and you've got enough money for another good phone if you wanted it. The Now Network feels it's important to point that out in this micro-age of Pokémon GO madness, even as the Un-carrier is offering unlimited high-speed data to all of its customers for a year while on the app. "Unlike some of the other carriers, Sprint offers unlimited data at a fair price so you don't have to worry about using data while Playing Pokémon Go," Sprint stated in a press ...

First and foremost of the perks is unlimited high-speed data for Pokémon GO use — that means that even if you dump the game next week, you can pick it back up in October and not have to worry about using up your data bucket. In fact, the offer lasts through the end of next August as long as you claim it on any given Tuesday through ...

Sprint was the first to be out and about with a monthly version of Amazon Prime before Amazon itself put it out there. The option for it to be billed on top of your other monthly service fees made it convenient in its own way. And if you really doubt that, why not sign up this month and take a free spin at it, huh? The $10.99 monthly charge will be waived for the first 60 days of your use and you can feel free to cancel at anytime. And sure, there's the whole argument to be made about a slightly cheaper lump sum versus a more convenient and digestible financing option, but as consumers who ...

It's midday on another Tuesday which means another T-Mobile Tuesdays event going to the dogs. Specifically, the dogs at the T-Mobile servers. Users are taking to Twitter to tweet tempestuously about how for the fourth week in the #GetThanked campaign they weren't able to access their stash of free perks. Some users were told by the app to come back on Tuesday, even though today is a Tuesday. I sure wish this T-Mobile Tuesdays app was working, @TMobile getting a bit ridiculous that every Tuesday I can't access my rewards. — David V (@The0DD1) June 28, 2016 Is T-Mobile Tuesdays a joke that ...

Have you got travel plans to Europe this summer? Want to stay connected? Do you fear of the consequences that may take place after the Brexit vote? T-Mobile's helping to allay most of these anxieties by amping up its Simple Global program in Europe. Sure, you have free data in over 140 territories around the world (including Belize now), but 2G speeds can get pretty impractical. The Un-carrier is letting those speeds rise up to 4G standards from July 1 to August 31 in the 58 countries it serves in Europe. That's for free, along with SMS. Calls are still 20¢ a minute. You can tell that ...

If Best Buy can pull of an iPhone-Apple Watch bundle like it has, then maybe Motorola can work its magic with one of its periodic savings blast. The Moto 360 Sport can be yours for free with the purchase of a Moto X Pure Edition. Well, you'll need to bump up the storage to 64GB, but even then, we're talking about what the Moto X was originally priced at when it was released — $399.99. You have up through June 28 at noon Eastern ...
